My first ever trip to Thailand a Thai friend took me to a floating market. She bought two bags of what I thought were some sort of exotic nuts and handed me one. Once on the boat I thought I'll try these nuts so popped a couple in my mouth. Turned to her and went "these nuts are not very nice." Yes, it was fish food.

We were there about 20 years ago, there was a very annoying very loud very present australian lady that everyone on the market disliked.....till she got off the boat but not on the ramp! Hilarious splash and she had a crowd laughing their socks off.😂😂😂

Thanks for the great video. It's nice to watch. For me, there are so many other and more peaceful floating markets near Bangkok center that I have no desire to go there personally.

Thanks Jeroen! Always good seeing you and Mirela.
It felt as if we were there sitting next to you on the boat. Really enjoyed this video, and it brought back some nice memories of when I took my mother there in 2015. Thank you for that.

Traveling through this floating market during peak hours it made me feel like driving a car in crazy Bangkok road traffic but the better mood. 😎😎Thanks for sharing.

Hi Jeroen. Nice video. Well done. Another amazing floating market is the Don Wai. It is more popular among Thai. It is also closer to Bangkok. It is more authentic.

I visited for the first and last time in the 80s. Even then it was a tourist trap.
My impression of the place can best be described by paraphrasing Julius Ceasar: I came, I saw, I left. 😅

"Damnoen Saduak __loating Market!"........I love the name!........lol
Why is (motor) long-tail boat allowed in traffic area????????........it causes smell and pollution.

I was there a few years ago which was great, but these new motorboats completely ruin the vibe, the motor is literally in your face so dealing with the noise and the fumes is incredibly rude, it turns this tranquil nature tour into Bangkok traffic, they need get rid of them. Btw the coconut sugar I bought there lasted me years.

Think it’s too touristic. Better avoid and visit the smaler local markets on the Thonburi side like the Khlong Lat Mayom floating market.

Damnoen is indeed the most visited floating market for a first visit to Thailand but for me it is not "a real Thai floating market", it is just for tourists whereas less than 20 km from Damnoen there is has some still typical floating markets. On the other hand, they are still very little visited by tourists because they are more difficult to access and you have to get by a little in the Thai language to communicate, but on the other hand on these markets there are no "made in China" trinkets 😁but you can buy there fruits and vegetables as well as noodle soups and Thai desserts
