      The Stryker is the best for reasons not listed. It has full digital capabilities, while also having degraded capabilities, more round placement on a self sustained vehicle, it also carries a smaller 81mm so you can send a dismount team. The ease of maintaining the system and the abilities for a simple crew member to get the weapon system back online is why the stryker should be at the top in my opinion.

    I like all of these mortar systems. Was a mortar crewman on the M-30, 4.2-inch mortar in the US Army. Sometimes ground mounted. That mortar weighed 672.2 pounds or 345-kg. Was also using the M-106 mortar carrier. That mortar system was back breaking labor. Used old fashioned plotting boards to get aiming data.
    These mortars have mechanical loaders and computerized firing data for sending mortar shells to the target.
    No more back breaking labor. Plus, these mortars must be using GPS aiming. Didn't see any aiming stakes being used. Aiming stakes were used as a reference point for proper alignment to target.
    The new mortars are faster with less crew fatigue. This alone makes a vast improvement over the older mortars.

    missing the 2S23 "Nona-SVK and 2S34 Hosta (chosta) both 120mm mortar systems and good systems, and another system worthy of a mention is the 2B9 Vasilek these are normally mounted on MT-LB chassis and comes with anti armour rounds as well, a 82mm automatic mortar with clips of 4x 82mm mortar rounds, they fire off rounds very fast 100-120 rpm, i believe Russia is developing a newer system mounted on various wheeled armoured platforms.

    • @DominicTaddei
      @DominicTaddei 2 года назад +3

      @@visegradi but still in use, and should be included. In fact more Soviet systems are still in service than AMOS etc. More modern Russian systems are also in service. Mortars haven't changed much over the years, and adding an extra barrel (AMOS) is hardly a big step forward. The 2B9 vaselisk is an automatic mortar with four round clips including anti armour rounds for direct fire, been around for decades, so yet again a automatic mortar system is new, so the Amos is basically a double barrelled automatic mortar system stuck on top of an armoured vehicle not a massive leap into the future.. Russia could have made that type of system decades ago. But with the addition of Lazer guided mortar rounds (not sure if Amos has them) but the Soviets and Russia have had them for decades means they can drop fewer rounds because they are more accurate. So no need for double barrel system to lay down more fire, also increases weight. You also have to look at export sales of Amos nobody is queuing up to buy it, goes to show you what other militaries think of it. Yet other militaries are still using older systems, why? Because they still get the job done.

    They failed to mention the most crucial aspect of the NEMO. The Patria NEMO system can be used to execute Multiple Rounds Simultaneous Impact (MRSI) fire missions, wherein a maximum of six rounds impacts the target simultaneously. NEMO can accurately fire projectiles along different trajectories with distinct charges to ensure all of them hit the target at the same time, causing significant destruction. Just imagine, with five of these systems concentrating fire on a specific area... It can also be fired accurately on the move. 😅

    • @Ho_Lii_Fuk
      @Ho_Lii_Fuk 2 года назад

      Not at all. The turret part of the vehicle is called AMOS while the platform is Patria AMV. AMOS has a range of around 10 kilometres and it has the capability to shoot 10 shells that'll hit the target at the same time (this feature is called MRSI). For some reason the creator decided to put here only it's direct fire range and not the in direct mortar range. Direct fire is only there for self-protection though and not the primary use of the system. AMOS can be mounted on pretty much anything that can carry it. Swedish navy even considered mounting them to small troop carrying boats.

    I like how the utilitarian and simple the russian one is. All these guys are designing mortar trucks that do your laundry but the russian ones are "tanks that shoot up"

    • @ribbitgoesthedoglastnamehe4681
      @ribbitgoesthedoglastnamehe4681 4 года назад

      The utility is different.
      Something like 80% of casualties are caused in the first 5 seconds of a bombardment.
      Thus, a bombardment lasting longer than 5 seconds is waste of ammunition. One of these laundromats can put up to 12 rounds on target in that 5 second window and scoot before counterbattery fire arrives. In few more minutes it is ready to strike a different location.
      For same effect, you need at least half a dozen of these older vehicles which pick up targets slower, prepare and move more sluggishly because there are more vehicles.
      I understand, they ARE, well, romantic, with blood and steel feeling and everything. But wars are not won by the ones with bravest soldiers, or best trained ones, or even best technology.
      Wars are won by those with the best mathematicians.

      Stats need to be taking in context
      Not all use of indirect fire is to take casualties. It's frequently used to deny areas or route the enemy. Think of artillery softening a target, then when the assault force moves in, the fire is shifted away but continued to deny escape or supporting units from advancing.
