I'm curious why you used the weber equivalent of a P10Q with a Jensen P10R for comparison? The Weber 10A100 would have a 1 inch voice coil, like the Jensen P10R has. (125 is code for 1.25 inch voice coil, 100 is for 1 inch). Magnet size is also substantially different. It is always good to hear any kind of real world comparison, so thanks for that!
Perdona .... me puedes hablar un poco o darme tu impresión sobre el Weber 12F150? Lo he pedido fuera porque en España es difícil de encontrar y tengo poca información, me para igual con un Júpiter 12LC que he pedido para pintar en un SUPERSONIC !!
This vid demonstrates that Jensen RI are just as good as Weber’s. I don’t get it... Lots of Weber user dump on Jensen RI ... but 90% of the vids out there actually comparing the two... there is never a clear winner (because both are really good )
@@justinpaquette224 @Justin Paquette When Sica bought the rights to Jensen, (early 2000s) they told Weber to stop using Jensen speaker names (like C12N, Etc.) Shortly after that he started saying Italian Jensen on not "real" Chicago Jensen's... that his speakers were the real Jensen's. I believe some of his staff also frequented The Gear Forum and TDPRI & have contributed to confusion. (that's where all this stems from)
As an example to demonstrate ... Jensen are the real deal (I know this a vid on P12Ns) I'll cite Jensen Ri C12Ns and Weber's 12F150 Here are some Vintage Chicago Jensen facts about the C12N: Chicago made 4 variants each with a different cone. All of them had 35oz magnets/drivers all of them at 1.5 voice coils. they are C6969, C8220, C8774, C8827 (**and a C7878... I think was for Hammond Organs... not sure on this) Weber offers the 4 cones, plus a Hemp cone in their 12F150 (Their C12N variant) **Weber makes a great speaker... let me be clear on this. (Taken from a conversation I had with a Sica Italian Sales rep who was there when they launched the Jensen line) Sica Jensen's goal from the start was not to make a clone that mimicked a 60 yrs old speaker with 60yrs of cone fatigue. They wanted to make an original Jensen as if you time traveled to 1964. He stated, Sica got lucky and found about a dozen NOS Jensen C12Ns still in their original boxes, mint. They recorded the TSPs frequency parameters of all of them and designed the Reissued TSPs around those. They then reversed engineered the NOS Jensens and came up with their specs. Looking at the reissue's driver, voice coil windings, depth to include the cone... Sica Jensen must have used the Chicago C6969 C12N as their model. They are almost identical in specifications (those that don't believe this.. go measure them) about the only true difference that Sica Jensen changed was they use a Kapton (resin) voice coil... (most say that doesn't change the voicing of the speaker... also kapton releases heat better than cardboard. Sica Jensen focused on one speaker from the Chicago vintage line rather than offer 4 different cones. I suspect that's what was done with all the rest of the reissues Example: C12Qs and Alnico line etc.... they also changed the designations.. vintage C10Q is now a C10R etc (makes sense when you have multiple speaker lines (Mod series, Jet series etc) The problem is the internet.. Too many people armed with bogus opinions, who don't know that they don't know, repeating old bogus opinions, or too many Noobs trying to use a vintage spec'ed speaker in a modern amp with a sup'ed up tone stack and heavy gain stomp box. Weber's 12F150s (no matter the cone) will do the same. If you're astute. You will notice the same complaints on the internet of both speakers. Why I like the Jensen Ri C12Ns is because the period correct driver, gives a period correct feel.. (and of course the classic American paper cone tone : loose bottom, aggressive mids and a bright top end) Weber's have a 40oz driver and tighter tolerance in the voice coil, which makes for a modern efficiency (around 100dbs) I prefer low efficient speakers allowing me to crank the amp, hence getting to the amps sweet spot at a lower volume. And I will add... Jensen speakers record well (evidenced by the too numerous demos on here on youtube)
I'm got a Vibro King with the P10R reissues. I've got another amp with a 10A125 that I'm planning to sell so I swapped the Weber into the VK (replacing one of the P10R's). I can't decide whether to keep it that way. Did you notice much volume difference between the P10R and the 10A125?
+NYC LP Player I did notice a big bump in the lows and low mids when I added the 10A125. FYI, if you've ever got a 410, try putting two 10A125's and two 10F150's. It's an unreal combo!
I plan to replace the speakers in my Kendrick KEN0105. They market it as a harp amp but it's essentially a Tweed Bassman 5F6 clone with power bumped up to 100 watts and with a reverb. I don't like the OEM Fane Ceramic speakers which come stock on that amp. I'm unable to decide whether I should go for the 50-watt Weber 10A150T or the 75-watt WGS G10A. @@nycLPplayer Yep, it's a 4x10 combo amp. Yeah, you're right, I think I should buy both. I've quite good experience with the Weber 10A150T so I'll buy them new, but as of the WGS G10A I've never tried them before, so I will buy them used. In worst case if I don't like the WGS G10A speakers I can always switch back to the 10A150T.
@@nycLPplayer Tried them both finally. I bought a pair of used WGS G10A and I didn't like their tone. On other hand the Weber 10A150T made the amp sound like a Bassman on steroids. Needless to say I'm keeping the Weber speakers in them.

I like the Jensen, it sounds bigger, the treble is not harsh and it breaks up nicely for dynamic playing. Sounds like a 1950's amp should.

Is it the 20 or 30 watt 10a125? Great demo!
30 I think
More 'cut' with the Jensen nice 'plummy' mids on the Weber.. Tricky choice
