Don't we ALL have a thing for Carmelita?
No, because not all of us are furries.
JRPGPirate WELL WHO GIVES 2 SHITS!?
MIAaaaaaahcrap Non-furries.
JRPGPirate
You don't have to be a furry to have a crush on a furry character. I never want to be a mix-human-mix-animal creature, and I'm not a big fan of furry art. But there are some furry characters I admit are pretty atractive, like Carmelita, but to be fair, she is very well drawn.
Marcel Sman
yeah, these too. ;P
Thanks for the kind words about the drumming joke, haha! If you're interested to see more - go to my second channel. I've blocked links on my comments so I can't link it here, but just search for Caddy's Conundrums and you'll find some there! :-D
You're really good, ya know.
dude - bro - Your reviews are awesome, keep it up - always funny and informative!
YEEEEAH that was brilliant
Caddy you should of put spyro in the poll. it would make me happy enough to fap................TWICE
actually sonic boom shattered crystal wasn't that bad of a game it was WII U one that sucked
but i'm sure you might have known that.
I was wondering why I recognised the voice of Dr. M - turns out he's voiced by Rick May, the Soldier in Team Fortress 2. Wow.
What?! really?!
Nice find! It sounds so weird to hear Solly say something intelligent for a change.
M7MAD520 Yep. He was also the voice of Peppy and Andross in Star Fox 64.
I was thinking of commenting that when I read this comment.
Lucas Tuckwood "Can't let you do that... maggot"
My biggest question about Bentley's wheelchair is, he's added so many cool gadgets to it, like rocket boosters so he can double jump, integration with his binocucom and sleep darts, a pickpocketing fishing pole...so why does he still have to use his HANDS to move it? Couldn't he just add a motor and joystick?
Some people prefer to use there arms than a joystick
Gotta get that excersize in somehow
Tricep gains bro do you even lift?
No wonder Carmelita could never hit anything, the sights on her scope are absurdly broad. 17:12
It just looks like a little nub on the top of the gun.
FUN FACT: DID YOU KNOW that in Sly 2, in the first world when you play as Bentley and go to Dimitri's nightclub, you can hit the jukebox and the remix of Dimitri's song will play
Who else thinks Caddy should do a God of War restrospective?
Ya he should
That be pretty good
Along with a jak and daxter and ratchet and clank
Good idea! But I think the Spyro-Trilogy would be more awesome! :D
Max Selenin Ape Escape? Anyone? No? I mean, all the others would be truly awesome, but APE ESCAPE!
You did the pause menu beat thing too, I thought I was crazy!
VenetianTemper LOL
11:52 for those curious.
I have to agree with Caddicarus and say Sly 3 is better than Sly 2 because of the better villains, pacing, character interactions, and focus.
Also - I've already done a Sly 4 video on my channel! Look for it under the Current Quickies playlist - there's no need to redo what's already been done :-D
Tell that to the Call Of Duty community
Kell Sennett said it like a true gent
Kell Sennett
Lol
Can't wait the movie release!!!!!
Ive shown you to my bro, its pretty cool to see someone who grew up with a ton of the games we also grew up with. Also i have to agree with you on your opinion of this series.
I guess this game suffered from something I call "third game syndrome". The thing that happens when you get a trilogy where the second is a big improvement over the first, but the third isn't so much over the second. People tend to be underwhelmed with the third game because it's not as much of an improvement, and end up giving it an unfairly harsh reception. It can also happen with games which aren't from a trilogy. Just with the game after the big leap of quality happens. It's a shame, since a lot of great games fall in to the shadow of their arguably inferior predecessors, or at least way better than they often get credit for.
I know what you mean Donkeykong country 3 for the snes has the same thing
Tell that to Ratchet & Clank 3.
It even can happen to part 3 games who are better. Sonic 3 andknuckles, a lot of great levels, great music, 3 playable characters who change the game difficulty, great boss fights, an absolute epic ending, better bonus games and f**king Hyper sonic. All that AND still Sonic 2 is the most favourite of all, which I never understood. And don't tell me it's because of Tails, I actually hate Tails because of that game. he was allways a annoying little stalker fanboy to me, and as a kid I never knew you could turn him off.... And than there are even cases where part 2 of a game is absolute shit and is still praised as a master piece like sonic adventure 2
with a trilogy, 3 things can happen: first is the best, the other two sequels aren't so great... OR second is the best, great improvement over the first, but the third can't really top the second, so it's maybe just as good as the second one, but not really better... OR the third is the best...
also, they should stop making more after 3 parts (I hate you Uncharted 4! Y U EVEN have to exist?! Whyyy?!!!)
Like Fallout: New Vegas always being overshadowed by the inferior Fallout 3 by the critics
I think that Caddy should do a Ractchet and Clank Retrospective. What do you guys think?
I don't think he'll ever get around to it.
@@Benjamillion why not?
@@ajpewding4058 He hasn't made any retrospectives in the span of the years since you first posted.
Sly 3 honestly gets too much hate.
I think the main reason why that is is because a large portion of the game is just mini games. Don't get me wrong, they're still tons of fun, but it definitely does not live up to the gameplay of Sly 2. Sly 3 does have more variety though, so I'll give it that.
I think that variety made the game a lot worse. Having variety usually it's good for a game but in this case it seems like they tried to make the game so varied that some of the new elements weren't very well implemented.
Straight White Christian Male same.
@@colemanstraight5766 Sly 3 had more replayability in my opinion because of the mini games. Once you 100% Sly 2 there is nothing for you to do. Also because you replay missions in Sly 3 as many times as you want. In Sly 2 you can only replay a certain mission chain if you performed a certain glitch.
11:52
Can we... Can we get a full cover of that? Like a ten hour version or something? I need it! I need it framed!!
Am I the only one who wants to see a vid on Caddy's game and Blu-Ray collection? Dat shelf is glorious!
Especially after seeing the Disney episodes! Dang he must have a lot of Disney blu rays,
Sassy Nick Disney episodes?
When he did the Jungle Book episode, and some others, he showed the Blu ray.
CoolEric258 I'm kind of late for this, since this was a few months ago, but he does have a video showing off his video game and blu-ray collection as part of a room tour. It's the first video he made on his second channel, Caddy's Conundrums.
From what I heard Sanzaru will not be making Sly 5, which is like a slap in the face since it ended on a cliffhanger
Soundwave they're making a movie about the first game though, so we can look forward to that
Soundwave well sly 4 took really long time before they started even making it so there is still some hope...
Soundwave OR WILL THEY?!... eh
They dropped it for fucking Sonic Boom. Fair trade if you ask me. Sanzaru games are a steaming pile of shit. Disrespectful as hell.
@@jokku9016 oops
JUICE! WHO'S GOT DE JUICE?! Oh and I'll have you know that I was ACTUALLY on 88% when you reached 100% when we were kids! But what mattered was that this game was MINE AND MINE ALONE! AH HA!
You, Rosie, still have DE JUICCE to this day on Playstation Access! THE JUICEMASTER
11:58 caddy. stop reminding me that your fucking awesome with drums
Woah. That was epic!
Timothy Reeve Hah. yeah
I really liked that drum solo.
That last level where you have to platform through the vault is probably one of my favorite moments in any game ever.
i used to fuck around with the menu, too
I think everyone did XD
You kind of have to. It's like....an unwritten rule
Any game that has a musical menu needs to be fucked with
It's like making Naked Snake and Eva puke in Snake Eater. Just gotta do it
Couldn't help but fuck with the menu:D
That fucking drum solo with the pause menu sounds was amazing.
Also, for people who praise assassin's creed for the pirate ships? I just laugh and say "Sly 3 did it first" while wearing my hipster glasses.
I don't think there's anyone who praises Assassin's Creed for the pirate ships, (even though it is the only thing it could receive praise for) but it was one of the first to have a semi-complex ship system that actually worked. Sly 3's is far too basic and just boils down to holding down R2 and L2.
***** Sid Meier's Pirates! NES
Kinda like saying "Mario Kart 8 had anti-gravity, but Crash Nitro Kart did it nearly a decade earlier"
I know. I was doing a faux-hipster comment.
***** You wouldn't be wearing hipster glasses. You'd be wearing the 3D Sly mask that came with the game. :D
6:53
Bentley's sass levels are over 9000
Caddy you don't know how happy i am that you covered my favorite game series of all time on here :)
I grew up on Sly, oddly enough like you i played the 3rd game first too then worked my way backwards. Sly 3 is probably my favorite of the bunch too, and it was also the very first game i completed all the way through.
Weird how a raccoon with a hippo and turtle could have such a huge impact on me even now :)
I always loved Le Fwee's pose when he said "The smartest man on the seven seas!"
I will never get enough of Bentley screaming: "SLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!"
After watching this video, I better understand why Caddicarus among many others consider Sly 3 the best in the series. The more personal story, greater variety, improvements to gameplay, dialogue, mini-games, and sheer effort definitely make for a phenomenal end to the original trilogy! The only aspects I didn't like were that some of the levels and villains weren't my favorites. Plus, Clockwerk was just too big an act for Dr. M to follow. Overall, I still prefer Sly 2 myself (partially because it was my first), but I'll play 3 for a good time any day. Sucker Punch showed fantastic love here, something other developers could learn from :)
Memory’s of CADDYS RETROSPECTIVE
10:01 I remember playing this on my Vita again, and just laughing my ass off at Bentley's robotic singing. xD
The vote is for the next game he will cover.
The options are:
Croc 2
Crash Team Racing
GEEZ I WONDER WHO WILL WIN.
Shame too, since I've already heard great things about CTR but had no idea that Croc 2 even existed.
JRPGPirate I actually wanted Croc 2 as well. I voted for it, but let's face it, there is no hope it will win.
nekusakuraba01 He really could've done some obscure game for the PS1 as a substitute for CTR. Hell, he could've done a Persona game as a vote, since people have no idea of what he thinks of the series.
I've played the hell out of Croc 2 and I would love to see an episode about it, but on the other hand, CTR made my childhood and it's more special to me.
JRPGPirate I have a feeling that caddy wouldn't enjoy persona just based on what he's said about FFVII, But I could be wrong.
I would love to watch these retrospectives :
Silent Hill
Resident Evil
God of War
Ratchet and Clank
Spyro
Uncharted
Rayman
Mortal Kombat
GTA
:)
Ratchet And Clank i would most like to see.
But.....what about Jak?
Jak can go bone himself in a corner with a bone
Brandon Robertson Well now I'm depressed....
SleepyHound Rikuverse srry.
Ratchet & Clank next?
Yep
Thank you so much for doing a series over Sly Cooper! I absolutely love this series, and I grew up with it. You are awesome!
*patiently waits for the Spyro Retrospective* Continue with your awesome videos Caddy!
I'm in a wheelchair and I'll be honest, Bentley's badassitude in this game helped me through High School. The fact that this guy(well, turtle) in a chair could not only still be a functional member of the world around him but actually OUTSMART MOST EVERYONE IN IT made me realize how many prospects I had for my future.
Bently's bit with that pilot.
I don't know why I laughed so hard at someone that didn't say a word. XD
9:40 Oh, man... I used to mess that up intentionally to hear this hilarious slow-mo sound effect that plays if you screw the song up.
I remember playing this game as a kid & playing the duet laughing hard missing so many beats from laughter, & the General Tsao moment was confusing.
Sly 3 is my favorite as well. Thanks for this retrospective Caddy! :D
So when I was little, I basically made a head canon discussion before Bentley's duet with Octavio where Sly says "Wait, what?! Dude, you can't sing, how are you gonna pull this off?"
"Don't worry Sly, I've made a program that will sing PERFECTLY for me!"
And thus we get the robotic "La"s
Sly: "Uhhhh... Yeah, Bentley. That some "perfect" singing. Octavio will never be able to tell that it's not you."
Octavio: (somehow actually can't fucking tell)
I just finished all episodes about Sly Cooper and it brought back so many memories back and it brought to light some of my problems i had with each of the games.
That opera duet only proved one thing to me: BENTLEY CAN'T SING!!!
Maybe it WAS slightly amusing.
This game was just fun to explore. I remember loving any of the hub worlds that had roofs you could run across, especially during the night. All of these games had wonderful atmospheres.
I'd always like to compare this franchise with the Spyro the Dragon PS1 Trilogy.
First Game: A new and innovative game that established the franchise so well that people consider the titular character the mascot of its console.
Second Game: A game that took everything from the first game and expanded upon it to the point where people regard it as the best.
Third Game: Took the second game and cleaned up its content. While people regard it as a good game, most people prefer the second game a little more while I still consider the third one to be my favorite.
The fourth game is more complicated. While Sly 4 isn't "bad", I think it's the weakest in the series despite the time-travel plot. Spyro 4... sigh... my inner child died a little that Christmas.
Sly 3 was one of my favorite games from my childhood along with Kingdom Hearts 2 and Ratchet and Clank.
As much as I loved this game, the thing that dragged it down for me were the extra characters. I liked it at 1st, but I get so bored playing as them now. I just want Sly, Bentley and Murray, ya know? Sly 2 was great, but it was a lot more repetitive than it should be. This one had more variety, but again, I woulda liked it better if they didn't use the extra characters so much. I just didn't have as much fun playing as them after a while.
And I agree about the comedy in this game. It was a lot better than the previous titles. =3 I personally loved the pasta sauce talk during the 1st area you go to. Heehee
GamingGoddess32
Sly 2 didn't over do it with the extra playable characters.
***** I know. I played all of them. No worries. =)
GamingGoddess32
I think the perfect Sly game should have 2's character roster and 3's length.
*****
Story wise yes but not so much gameplay wise.
*****
The story and villian was better. That much I can agree with Caddy on.
Great retrospective. Thank you Mr Caddick. You are a gentleman and a scholar. I do hope you will have enough time on your hands to make more of these.
I declare that *I-Ninja* for the PS2 should be Caddy's next Retrospective.
Fuck yeah, please! Even though I had the pc version that game was part of my childhood.
I remember it being extremely fun.
***** Same, though I played on the PS2. I used to go up to my friends house, we used to play it, taking turns, almost everyday until we beat the game.
Thank god I still have I-Ninja and my PS2.
I remember I had a demo for that game and it was really fun.
Wait...THERE WAS A 2 AND 3?!?
I-ninja had sequels?
I LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCH! The Panda King and The Guru were the greatest teammates ever (not counting the original Sly, Bentley and Murray because they are still awesome!), Dimitri and Penelope were pretty cool, too!
Awesome retrospective, Caddy, thank you! I'm gonna go play Sly III now :3
Funny thing, the reason I find the second game to be superior is only because of the bottles. The bottles made such a difference to me...
I LOVED The Demitri sections in this game, They were really funny just to toy around and see what kind of reactions you could get from him!
Also, I always found all of the disguises hilarious for when they travel to a new area in the cutscenes.
people hated Thieves in Time? :/
some yes some no
Why must people hate a fantastic game :(
Stephen Aderanti well it does have lot of issues especially in story and upgrades
Nah I think it's fine
Stephen Aderanti true but it still makes free roaming less fun
im so happy now that Caddy's Retrospectives is back hopefully throughout the year more of these show up every now and then and hopefully more interesting retrospectives take place, i would have loved to see a resident evil retrospective or a silent hill retrospective or even a tomb raider retrospective but anything new is something ill still be waiting for, keep up the good work Caddy You rock!
9:06 This guy sounds very similar to the Soldier from Team Fortress 2.
Believe it or not, they are both actually voiced by the same person.
Guys, look at the first reply. I saw, and I was amazed that I noticed and got that right!
"Time to keep it smooth...GREASY SWEET" that's my senior quote right there
This game is Greasy Sweet
It just keep it smooth
General Tso is a chicken...
General Tso... IS A CHICKEN!!!
This is single-handedly the greatest pun in any video game ever!
sly vs zao was just too epic o_o
***** yep!
I did the over an hour because it was just so exciting. Absolutely LOVED sly as a kid and I am replaying them now. Thanks Caddy!
You literally died laughing? Wow, no way!
11:51 Im glad i have actually found someone who dicked around in the pause menu making music
Great! Now do the Ty The Tasmanian Tiger series. Please?
Thank you Caddy for giving me something to watch while everyone else watches the Superbowl :)
Waitwaitwaitwaitwait.....
*_Is that Dr. Eggman's voice I hear??_*
yup
Whaaaaa
Hehe xD
Cam and Nega the Lopunnys What? Where? When?
These videos are insane nostalgia trips for me. Next to Kingdom Hearts, the Sly Cooper games were my childhood.
One thing that you forgot to mention is that: The game is multi-languaged. I mean: Really multi-languaged. It has been dubbed in about every single language available, and I can rerember playing it with Norwegian voices. And trust me: It's really uncommon to have a game with a Norwegian dub. The only games that are being dubbed to Norwegian or any other language now is the "Skylanders" games.
Sly 3 is in fact (in my opinion) the best one of the original trilogy. Great to see a popular RUclipsr bringing this often looked-over series to the eyes of many gamers around.
from I look back I agree Sly 3 is better than Sly 2 in term of gameplay and structure but the minigame can be overstay welcome tbh especially Pirate and Treasure Hunting and I like extra character but they really missed opportunity on Panda King because I barely play as him even on his chapter.
11:57 HOLY SHIT that is some AWESOME drumming Caddy! As a drummer myself I'm really impressed. Never thought I'd see you play in your videos, I approve. You need to show us more of your drumming skills!
Ps vita: Most underrated console ever.
The PS vita just doesn't have much game variety to appeal to a larger audience. There's some great games on it, sure, but they are all very similar genre-wise with only a few exceptions. That's why the people who have the Vita really love it, but it hasn't done nearly as well as the 3ds.
*****
Don't know about Dreamcast... The thing never interested me
WH250398 But it's still the most underrated console, whether or not it interested you.
CrewOfGaming Adam
i do not like the games.
WH250398 You don't like Sonic? Or Jet Set? Or Shenmue? Or Soul Calibur? Or Shoot 'em ups? Samba de Amigo? Space Channel? Resident Evil? Street fighter? Crazy Taxi? Skies of Arcadia? Ikaruga? Racing games? Typing of the dead? Grandia? SERIOUSLY? ALL THOSE? NONE OF THOSE?
I also loved this game as a kid man! You are not alone! I'm actually surprise that people don't think that way about honor among thieves!
2021 here.
Sadly, no Sly 5. Nor a Sly 4 port to PS4.
For some reason, this retrospective reminded me of 2 things from when I played through the Sly games. The first one was one of Bentley's taunts, "Up your nose with a rubber hose!" The second one was the time when I realized that I could infinitely throw down smoke bombs in Sly 4.
Oh no Caddicarus, I agree with you 100%. This game is fucking amazing! You got every single point I loved about this game, down to messing with the main menu screen. It feels great to see someone else who loves Sly 3 the most out of the series.
Though I didn't like how the new members of the Cooper Gang were not independently playable, as in you couldn't walk around Blood Bath Bay as the Panda King or become random objects in Venice as the Guru. Even if it didn't do much, it would still be a nice touch, and allow you to learn more of how each character plays. Like, I didn't feel like I got enough time to play with the Panda King, you got one mission where you could move freely and that was it.
Also, I feel like I have to ask (even though I'm sure you won't respond because you're too busy making other great videos to listen to one person, which I am completely fine with), what was you're opinion of the plot twist in Sly 4? If you played the game, you know _exactly_ what I'm talking about. I thought it was the absolute worst thing in the game. They ruined such a kind and lovable character, for a twist that wasn't really all that good and didn't make any sense.
One of the best things about the sly franchise is that damn grapple cam 'hey you with the low self-esteem'
That is extremely ironic at 1:33 because i too got Sly 3 for my Birthday (my 6th birthday) and my sister played Sly 3 more than me and claims that Sly 3 is way better than Sly 2. i think i'm going to have to check on my sister to see if she is Caddicarus LOL
So now I know where Rosie's theme music comes from for Professor Juice.
sly 3 is my fav too
For someone that is terrified of being underwater in video games the dimitri levels were super unpleasant, but even then this is one of my favorite games ever.
14:50 A Raccoon stealing someones prosthetic leg ? ............ Rocket Raccoon much xD
Holy shit Caddy that drum solo! I know you've got a schedule and stuff but please do more videos like this, they're incredible!!
Caddy don't you think that Sly Cooper: Thevies in Time deserves a video along with Caddy's Retrospectives, it is still part of the Sly Cooper series. (Sanzaru Games didn't do a bad job on making another Sly game, its like Sucker Punch made it themselves)
Holy crap, Caddy! You've gotten so much better with your drumming! I'm bloody impressed!
Three is the best over the entire series.
I agree
SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO true
This video made me almost cry. The nostalgia just hit me like a fucking truck.
You're not alone Caddy! Sly 3 is also my favorite of the game series! Well, I haven't played Thieves in Time yet, but so far Sly 3 is the best :D
The part that got me laughing the most in Sly 3 is probably the dialouge when Murray tries to make one of the pilots laugh. I also love Bentley's taunting/distractions when using the grapple cam xD
can i just say.....I TELEPORTED BREEAAD!
I've done nothing but teleport bread for 3 days.
You gotta love the opera duet between Octavio and Microsoft Sam
what the hell? The time-of-day was fixed, it was one time for the first part of a chapter and another time for the second half and there was no way to go between them far as I could tell. I hated that honestly, I wanted to make it night in the italian and german levels but it wouldn't fucking let me, it had to stay day and that didn't feel very stealthy.
I've been playing drums all my life, and you sir, are fantastic! Also, you're not the only one who liked this one over Sly 2, for sure.
When I grow up...I want you to have half my children. LOL JK
I thought you liked pewdiepie
kanchomerocks12 Ha, pop culture references.
OK Ike. KICK THE BABY!
kanchomerocks12 who do you think will get the other half?
you want him to cut them in half?
I went and delayed watching this so I could watch it on my birthday! I really love sly 3 a whole lot.
Wait a minute, Sly Cooper 3:Honour Among Theives AND Uncharted 2:Among Theives. I see what you did there Naughty Dog. And you thought you got away with it.
bro sucker punch developed this game not naughty dog
Kstun
I mean Naughty Dog took the Among Theives from Sly3. I did some research atleast.
11:51 the best part of this video is just HIM going through the menu playing on the DRUMS.....just....FUCKING GLORIOUS!!!!
Well, I'm here early.
Today I found the Sly Collection for PS3 at Walmart for like $13. Never got around to playing these as a teenager, but after watching Caddy's Retrospective, I knew it was a definite buy.
Like if he should review the first 3 jak and daxter games!!!!
batmancomic87
When he does a vid on Jak 2, it's going to anger a lot of people.
Why do you say that?
batmancomic87
He said he disliked Jak 2 in his Sly 2 video.
Oh ya I forgot about that
"this is a video game...not a beeeeeeewwwwwwwwwk"
I SHIT MYSELF LAUGHING AT THAT PART
I found Sly 2 better than Sly 3 because Sly 2 felt a bit more dark and serious, and because I played these games as a teenager, I found Sly 2 better.
+DJ Atomic Same here.
Trust me, you're not alone in feeling that Sly 3 is the best of the trilogy. It is much more replayable than any other game in the series, utilized the playable characters better, removed the chore of clue bottle hunting, added traps that you could spring on guards and had tons more gameplay mechanics that worked extremely well. This certainly was everything the series had been building up to.
