I can't tell if LS network is so bad because it's meant to mimic US transit or if the devs don't know how a good transit network should look like because they're from US

I could imagine it as a movie - dramatic jump cuts from the squad robbing a bank, and the last guy waiting for the train, hoping it comes soon (kind of like how waiting hard makes you think the elevator doors will close faster). Thank you for the support!
I love how Rockstar put so much effort into designing and implementing a public transit system that's just a shitty as LA's in the real world. Great dedication. They even got the unbearable slowness of it down, and you can't even skip the ride unlike GTA IV's subway. 10/10
@@TheTransitDiaries same and I wish we could ride the taxi as a passenger and take the San Fierro tram normally that way we have full access to public transport
As the whole point of GTA is to parody American culture, perhaps the metro system was designed poorly on purpose to make fun of how crap public transport is in the US, at least outside of NYC. You'd have a better time living car-free in GTA IV (reflecting the lower car ownership in NYC compared to the rest of the States) as the subway there is at least somewhat useful and taxis are far more abdundant and easier to find to reach places not on the subway.
Yk what’s funny. Public transit was so good in gta 4 I found it easier to get on the trains than steal a car, escape the police, and then also hopefully drive carefully enough the cops don’t get called onto me. So much easier to take the train
@@TheTransitDiaries To be honest I’ve never been to New York City. I’ve never in real life had the opportunity to take trains due to being a country bumpkin but always been fascinated by them. Personally, I would've also touched on the Los Santos Taxi service, especially since they are the most convenient and useful in the game. The buses unfortunately can't be boarded as a passenger, the tram system has limited use only running through the city, however the taxis can be found all across the map, are nearly always usable, can be requested via your phone, and can fast travel to any destination you want.
I've played 2500 hours of it and I don't think I ever used public transport. I mean look at it. The dude got attacked because he was going to give a negative review for the public transit system.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks the metro is underrated, I only remember using it once in storymode because I was curious and as for the bus they could've used it as an alternative way to fast travel similar to a taxi
The bus could really have been a good opportunity for fast travel. It would have been cool if it dropped you off at the end of the bus route as well, not just exactly where you want to go to. Thank you for your support!

I really enjoy using transit in GTA games. I rode the subway a lot in GTA 4. But it's hard to justify using transit in GTA 5 when it is so inconvenient, and cars are essentially free and abundant, and you don't have to worry about traffic as long as you are willing to ignore traffic laws, which I assume most players are.
Which is true for Los Angeles anyway because it is a very car-centric city while its transit systems are lagging compared to NYC or even the rest of the world.
