About 25 years ago, I finished a king size quilt for some dear missionary friends of mine. His mother had made it years prior, but never quilted it.
Fast forward to about a week ago and their house completely burnt down and lost everything. One of their greatest treasures was that quilt. I’m too old to start from the beginning, nor do I have the time to hand quilt it once again… But what I’m hoping to do is a replica of the quilt… But do it lap quilt size.
With searching for this pattern, I came across your lovely channel. I should be sewing by now, but instead, I am enjoying drinking a 2nd cup of hot coffee on this cold morning… And watching a few of your videos! Thank you once again.

Lovely flowers Beth! I used to glue, but have gone back to sewing. I find it’s easier and quicker for me, and less messy. I always take my hexies camping with me. Happy Camping. Cheers 💐

Me too. I have a hexagon bag...take along on camping and road trip. And I agree with still sewing as glue too messy.

hint! if you add a hole to the cardboard hexi it makes them so much easier to remove ! I use a small crochet hook to grab them out

    • @zhinka1
      @zhinka1 Год назад +4

@@leannemori9688 makes it easier to get the template out without wrecking it if your fabric is stiff! you can use your fine croche t hook to poke thru and grab the inside edge of the paper and pull it out, is also nice if you are using vintage delicate fabrics so you do not distort it if it is cut on the bias!

I’m new to EPP too, but I learned that if you give your block a good hot press from both sides BEFORE you start taking the papers out, as well as after, the whole block will lie flatter. 😊 🌷

Elmer's does make a glue stick which is more the size of a pen - sold at Dollar Tree in a two pack for $1.25, usually up near the registers. Definitely less expensive than the Sewline glue pen (which I also have) - and you probably can find the skinny Elmer's at Walmart but I have never looked.

I used half my hexies with both these glues. The pen is easier to be more precise and to stay away from the tip of the paper. My main complaint was the glue dried out over time. I did over 1500 and by the time I began sewing alot of them had to be re pasted. The pasting was so much faster and if you have arthritis in the hands this method helped me so repasting wasn't a big problem. I enjoyed securing the material. I used a dot of glue to hold the material in place. I also used 2 1/2 wide squares saving the trimming.i didn't see that it made it more bulky. Love your sewing room on the road and this video was great. Thanks

    Hello Beth- questions!!!
Can those papers be reused or are they one time use?
Is there another option for a reusable hexi OR a way to make them reusable?
    Thank you ❤️😀

I watched a video (can't remember which channel now), where they cut out the forms first from a thin plastic. (Avery 3 ring binder dividers). I bought some but haven't tried it yet. And I don't know if it would work with the glue method or not. I also don't know if it would cause the thread to fray more. But I'm going to try it.
I've heard the papers (cardstock) can usually be re-used several times.
As you can probably tell, I haven't tried any EPP yet. But I'm anxious to start! 😊

@@redeemedvintageseamstress4728 If you want to give it a try, I bought a cute little kit from Etsy that had a whole bunch of stuff: precut papers, fabrics, a template, thread conditioner, needle, several pins, a thimble, a bobbin of thread.
I added a sew tite magnet and a small pair of scissors ✂️ and had a nice little kit to get started and see if I like it. I do! 😂 I’ll see if I can find the name of the store and post it here. 😊

Here’s a little hack. Once you have all of the petals attached take out the middle paper and it folds back so much easier than trying to fold it with the paper inside.
