Hey great vid man! Good for u sticking it out and getting her done! I have never made a lam bow or a take down. But I'm curious.. I wonder if the riser would have been better off as one solid piece of wood rather than lams? Also maybe on next one if u went a lil lighter on the limbs might b able to get away with more on the riser without it breaking. I'm def looking forward to seeing your next tho this is pretty cool! I've only done one board bow and a few self bows. If I ever get the courage to buy a good bandsaw I'd def like to give a take down lam bow a try! Thanks for sharing.
After breaking a solid riser 2 times and then breaking 3 ply lamination on the 3rd try, I mostly just wanted a low risk solution to finish the project. Lighter limbs would obviously lower the stress on the riser, but they were already made up. No need for a bandsaw, You can rough cut the riser with a handsaw or coping saw and chisel then shape with a heavy rasp. It won't take as long as you might think
Great video. Seems like you would do well with a self bow
I may yet try making a self bow, although I prefer the consistency of working with laminated wood
Great video. I had no idea the riser could be so problematic. I'll try a stainless steel pipe and hopefully it works. Thanks. Great upload!
I think one of the issues is that hickory splits well. maybe make it out of sycamore or some other split resistant wood

You might find BackyardBowyer's channel interesting if you've never seen it before. It's mostly PVC bows.... still lots of good information.
I have seen it, and he makes nice bows. I am really only interested in making laminated wood bows right now. Still have a lot to learn though.
