It was indeed a challenging and invigorating experience to make this tutorial. To quantify a creative exercise and to place the concepts correctly , was the challenge and of course the new things I learnt from making this video was indeed worth the hard work.. As I post this video, my humble request to my subscribers, students and well wishers is , please go through the video carefully many times over and understand the concepts that I am trying to emphasize. This knowledge can be applied to other kritis as well. Also do use the comments section to clear your doubts

Meaning for the krithi
English translation
Pallavi
I sing the praises of Ganapathi of Vatapi,
Who has a face of an elephant and showers boons.
Anupallavi
He whose feet are worshipped by all elements,
Who rules over the material earth and its beings,
Madhyama Kala Sahithyam
Who is beyond desires , who is praised by Yogis,
Who is the cause of the world and
Who is the one who removes obstacles.
Charanam
He who was worshipped by Agasthya from early times,
Who is in the center of the triangle in Srichakra,
Who is worshipped by great ones like Lord Vishnu,
Who is in the mooladhara Chakra of the body,
Who is in all the four sounds starting from Para.
Who is of the form of Om with his curly trunk,
Who permanently has a piece of moon on his head,
And who has in his left hand a stick of Sugar cane.
Madhyama Kala Sahithyam
He who holds in his lotus like hands a noose ,goad and fruits,
He who drives away all evils and has a giant form,
He who is adored by Lord Shiva and Lord Subrahmanya,
And He who is close to Shiva and is adorned by Raga Hamsadwani.

This exhaustive video on how to build Sangathi s or complex variations in the pallavi of Vathapi Ganapathim Bhaje is a good exercise for students to understand how Manodharma works in advanced lessons. Do watch and absorb the concepts I have laid down , such that your musical knowledge and creativity will get enhanced. Such understanding is very necessary to get stronger in the art of pallavi playing as well as other aspects of manodharma.
What a beautiful teaching mam.I am big fan of you. I learn more gamakas from your tutorial. At present i practice vathapi in this type

Thanks a tonne ma'am... This is my favourite krithi... Even though I tried playing it wasn't getting the bhava of it... This tutorial is of immense help... Can't thank you enough ma'am... My humble namaskarams🙏 😊
Best wishes Nagendra
What a deep knowledge of this song, i am learning to sing this song from you mam
You got the talam idea ? Best wishes
This video gives a clear understanding of how we can apply the techniques to bring out the bhavam of the composition. The various sangathis that we can be woven in that raga is an example of how much creativity can be enhanced. This is what you always expect from us that is to explore the raga to the fullest. Try phrasing again and again to get the bhavam of not only raga but also the composition. This video is indeed a treasure trove to me. This is my favourite krithi since childhood. Thank you for such an elaborate explanation.
Thanks Akshata
Tnk u so much mam..
Appreciate ur dedication...dear mam..
God bless dear mam🥰🙏
Thanks Renuka
Namaskaram mam.. I've watched this videos thrice!! for two reasons.. Firstly, your involvement in creating the sangathis with overwhelming bhavams pouring out of the raga..-complete manodharma!! ..leaves me spellbound! The foremost reason to enjoy the sahithyam flowing from the instrument, as a rasika!..One needs to repeatedly phrase the swarams until we get the bhavam..you've reinforced this so well..Placing the kalpanaswarams at the right place of the krithi to enhance the sangthi and the flavours of different swara combinations..Unless we meditate and engross ourselves on the sahityam to appreciate the meaning this would not be possible..this is simply awesome!..The other reason being the emphasize on the basics-talams, matras and gamakams. You've explained it all so well. This tutorial is like Lord Ganesha/Sarawati themselves have taught the nuances of playing and meditating on the kriti. We are immensely blessed to learn from you! Thank you so very much for making this video.
Thanks Kousalya. Appreciate the effort you put in, to understand the concepts. Great going and best wishes

Thanks Vijayakumari
So beautifully played with crystal clear explanations of the notations!! You have demystified the art of Kalpana Swaras. It is so intriguing and intimidating for students of music to even think they can analyze or even understand how to approach it. Your teaching opens each layer of music like the blossoming of a flower bud!! Such a profound experience!!
Thank you so much !!

I just finished watching the whole tutorial and found it to be a real treasure trove. Your explanation of bringing out the sahithyam while playing, sangathi making and kalpana swaram development are so clearly done. I am also excited to apply the gamakams you have taught us here to other Hamsadvani pieces. Thank you so much for taking the time to provide us with such a detailed tutorial. I thank Lord Ganesha for connecting both of us.

Teaching techniques borne out of years of practising the craft and now sharing the knowledge for aspiring musicians, my humble namaskaram to you. I don’t even play veena and I have subscribed and follow the teachings as these techniques are transferable to Carnatic guitar playing.
Thanks and best wishes.
Mam very clearly explained about phrases, creativity, manodharma all in the Pallavi. Even i know the keerthana learnt so much in this video. 🙏for your efforts mam.
Thank you
I just finished seeing the complete video and I must say that what a incredible explanation of the advance lesson like the kalpanaswaram and the pallavi representations you have given. Any student who really absorbs the complete nuances would definitely hv a good understanding of kalpanaswaram and the sangathees. One has to be patient and go on over and over this video and learn each and everything and then play this krithi at any place.
Thanks Alok
