I’ve listened to Ms. Battle almost daily for the past 30 years. With RUclips I have the pleasure of watching her, as well. One of my favorite voices of all time. It’s interesting that her technical mannerisms became increasingly pronounced over time. I don’t know the reason(s), but the sound she achieved, continues to achieve, was/is never short of sublime. Most important is the fact that the voice is unique, and instantly recognizable, so that any piece she sings becomes, in a way, hers.
In this very performance Madam Battle defies the stratosphere. Absolutely sublime of depth emotion and poetry. THIS VERY PERFORMANCE MADE OF O QUANTE VOLTE My favorite Aria!😄
She is one of the most beautiful coloratura voices of the last 50 years. It has so amazing chiffon lightness, yet weight and exelent unique technique ever.
For the many classical music enthusiasts, certainly Mrs Kathleen Battle, who is extraordinary and lovely while in concert, gives a performance that soothes the troubled soul or gives credence to concert goers across the globe.
This is sush a beautiful area.when he dismissed her not only from the opera house. but all Opera lovers from hearing perfection in ery performance she gives. We all still love her dearly..Blessings to you Kathleen Battle!!!.
I think to be fighting over the breath taken at 8:13 is really being overly critical. I have heard about ten sopranos here sing this aria and few if any sound as beautiful. to me as she does. this is 2016, not 1916! We have few if any Golden Age singers around today and many were not even singing these arias then. Most were getting into Verdi and Puccini a completely different singing style. She is not a belcanto singer period but she does a great job on this work, in my opinion. We can't have Patti or Melba come back from the dead or Lind either. They might have taken a few extra breaths when they were in their 40's too!
One of the greatest singers of the last 50 years. Not a large voice but so beautifully place with little effort and great musicianship. The new group of singers should learn from her and be half as good.
Only the fucking opera purists would hate on Kathleen, the undisputed best singer of all time. Her insight into phrases put her clearly at the top of the profession, and she makes us all jealous. Also, that horn solo in the beginning was perfect too. Man, you opera folks are so spoiled...
Undisputed!#? ... I believe VERY disputed, where have you been!? - The woman was gorgeous, the voice was gorgeous. . . But something tells me you're too young to have "experienced" her - the total package is what was spoiled, not the listener! (*and her over indulgent phrases, not insight, grew stale with each role*)
I think her Italian pronunciation, her the way she bends and stretches her neck is really strange and unusual. She sounds very "unitalian", but her voice and expression is beautiful.
@@zenkiea9663 - Horrendous behavior, inexcusable ... I witnessed it often and eventually the Metropolitan Opera and every other major opera house in the world said "Enough is enough". It went on for far too long though .. when other artists refused to accept engagements if she was in the cast too many houses found trouble (and their own choruses tramatized). Shame, the voice was lovely and she was beautiful ... Superficial only unfortunately
Ronizetti I knew her personally and sang with her in Cincinnati and she was always charming, kind, and delightful. A wondrous human being. When did she go off the rails? I still adore her.
The singing is very good but I am afraid she does not have the very voice for Giulietta. Her soprano is too light and there is too much affect in her phrasing. Bellini requiers a lot of abillity and vocalizing but also sincerity and natural attitude. Too much moving and gestures
She has a beautiful sound and I do not think she would sing this opera either. But can't one enjoy the beauty of her voice? I think today, that is about as good as it gets. The golden age singers are gone but for one or two every 50 years. She hits all the notes and sounds beautiful. She is very pretty as well. I like the one that Sylvia Schwartz a few years ago too. I think just to be able to sing this aria and hit most of the notes is just great. She never had a huge voice and will not sing a lot of dramatic parts.
Today, with so few singers having even beautiful voices, one can not be too critical of hand gestures and movements. In the Golden Age, they just stood on stage and sang. Most of the healdliners today would not be selected to sing in the shadows. She was also not on stage and in an opera would be moving quite differently. Sylvia Schwartz has a great voice too but would never undertake this opera. Many sing Casta Diva from Norma but how many will take the part in the opera and sing it? Not many and fewer still sound good doing so.
No one sings this like Beverly Sills. No one. Battle is truly one of the great voices of our time. Her Mozart and Strauss are unsurpassed. But not this.
Alex what an idiotic thing to say. I mean, really? You have no idea what any of them felt. When you assume, you make an ass out of yourself. You, sir, are an ass.
Kathleen Battle is one of the best voices of our time.

Какая нежность , легкость, медовый голос! Очень люблю Кэтлин Бэтл. ❤❤❤
One of the most beautiful voices of the last 50 years. So rare in its chiffon lightness, yet weight and technique never absent.

I miss her. Her disappearance from the opera scene/stage was a tremendous loss.
she is coming back.
+djyunglot Can you tell me where. Thank you.
Why was she blacklisted from the Opera world?

MUY BIEN CANTADA, PERO NO LLEGA NI SIQUIERA IGUALAR LA VERSION DE SILLS

Why?
캐틀린 내마음의 최고의디바
8:13-33
8:13-31 is not bel canto.
Beautiful voice however her facial and body expressions making me very nervous. She seems to be in so much pain. It is uncomfortable to watch..! : (
Totalmente desafinada en parte de su interpretación. Me extraña en ella pues su sonido es de una pureza exquisita.
explicame en donde estan las desafinaciones plisss
Indeed she is many times flat here. But any other things are amazing
Elle perd beaucoup d’énergie en remuant sans arrêts ses bras 😮😮😮
Those musicians behind her hate her so much. She was likely mean, rude, and disrespectful to them in rehearsals.
Alex what an idiotic thing to say. I mean, really? You have no idea what any of them felt. When you assume, you make an ass out of yourself. You, sir, are an ass.
Alex yes you are an ass plus hole 💩🕳🤣
Your soooo STUPID 🇫🇷🙏 ARNOLD Bourbon Amaral
poor breath control. I'm NOT an expert, but what I say here is true. Period.
Some days you sing better than others. Battle usually sings with good support and breath control.
WcTM,you always talks bullshit like this?
