A boss battle where it's the boss who's on a time limit rather than the player is a refreshingly unique concept.
Yeah, imagine if Solis hits hard, and has a very good defensive profile, so you have to survive a certain number of turns.

I think there's will be some point in the game, the secret bosses will start to be less rewarding. And they just maybe gonna have the Armor Item, not more a Weapon. Or maybe they gonna have...
I think now probably the secrets bosses weapons gonna be weapons with differents functions for Ralsei or Susie. And for some reason, Kris is gonna be the one who never gain a boss weapon
or potentially go to other party members such as Noelle@@P3dr0m4n03l
I love the sound of clock ticking in the background, because this entire battle needs to be quick if Solis wants to live, he needs to get Kris's soul before his time runs out and he collapses.
And it also fits the entire idea of Solis being a sundial i guess

gotta love how being a sundial keeps up with the theme of secret bosses being "outdated" as sundials went out of common use around 600 years ago.
hold on, i sorta understand how spamton is outdated but.... how is jevil considered outdated
@@waterlessant5355most competitive (and even casual) card players neglect the joker for two reasons.
1) sometimes it's considered a wild card, and since many people consider that unfair, the joker commonly stays out of the deck.
2) other times the card is simply used as a stand-in for a card that's missing from the deck (probably because someone lost it) and thus it isn't used much.
@@NailsnTape Jevil is also, like, locked up since years, has a design that looks old, is probably one of the oldest person in car kingdom.. and spamton's wealth is outdated.
@MatheoZ14 that’s the point - along with everything else about their light world equivalents, their outdatedness is personified in the dark world as them having outdated roles/professions/legacies to match their outdated use irl.
In Solis’ case, while they’re outdated in the light world because better forms of TIMEKEEPING exist, they’re outdated in their dark world because better forms of ENTERTAINMENT exist.
Similarly with Spamton, he’s outdated in the light world because other forms of scamming/business work better, and he’s outdated in the dark world because his own talents as a businessman no longer work, reflecting how people rarely fall for internet scam mail anymore.
What I’m trying to say is, the secret boss’ downfalls in the dark world are analogous to their disuse in the light world.
The joker card being kept out of the deck and kept in the box = Jevil believing he’s “outside” while quite literally being trapped in a cage (the card box)
People don’t fall for scam mail anymore = Spamton’s sales tactics stop working
People stop using sundials because better clocks exist = People stop attending Solis’ performances anymore because better entertainment is available

I’m not a musical person at all so I can’t really describe it, but the Solis leitmotif (the one used at 0:52, it was also used in the Backstory and the cutscene videos) is so unbelievably good and fitting for this character. It’s a very simple melody but it conveys the characters tragedy and also adds a sense of regality, whilst still being a Toby Fox style motif. It reminds me of how Toby did “A Real boy” with the “canon in D” backing, but here it’s way more prominent.
Amazing work. Amazing character. This is easily one of my favourite Deltarune AU characters/concepts period.
I like to think in 1:54, it tells us that just like Spamton, Solis doesn't want to be like them. Being Loved by people only to end up insane. Jevil tried to say the truth to other people, Spamton tried to break free and I think that Solis tried to ignore it by staying in the garden and live in denial

The flash between jevil, spamton, and solis defining face features or faces in general has got to be my favorite part. Also would like to see the actual battle between kris, Susie, ralsei, solis in the style of other deltarune battles since it be interesting to see all of Solis’s attacks. Comment edit, just realized that a good amount of bits in this song are from spider dance. Second comment edit, it happens very fast, but you can see the annoying dog go flying up when the ground starts floating in the background

Okay I just found about this character like an hour ago but I just wanna say that the dance Solis does at 1:32 along with the more isolated sound of the violin gives such a grandiose feel that probably encapsulates how the audience at their performances felt. The lack of features, getting lost in their craft, only to be destroyed and reduced to a weak form by what they learned, no longer able to do what they love and make others happy as well, perfectly encapsulates what trauma can do to someone. Even in that weakened state they do all they can to continue dancing, but just can’t anymore. Idk what my real point is, just as someone who used to make art a lot and no longer can really due to my declining mental health it resonates with me.
I hope you can do art again sometime :(

Assuming Solis uses the purple soul, here are some ideas for attacks:
1. Flower-like cannons appear along the lines, switching between shooting in a + and x pattern
2. A ballet-like figure twirls inbetween lines, attracting crystal shards to loosely orbit it
3. A sundial appears on the middle, with a laser hitting it (motion resembles an analog clock). Shields will appear on the lines to shield your soul. In later phases, it can rewind
Ultimate: Solis freezes time, shooting the soul and throwing crystal shards, before pulling the cave's ceiling down (either by whips or by aging the pillars until they erode). Time then moves
Also because Solis used a save point, I can see Omega Flowey shenanigans happening

I gotta say I absolutely love the imagery of that intro, with the sundial shifting perspective into Solis' hat is fucking CLEVER.
The ticking clock as a beat is really cool also, I remember coming up with that for my own Secret boss character's theme a couple months ago, and I think its a really neat bit of synchronicity.
Also, only realized this now, but MY GOD THE CANNONS ARE SHAPED LIKE THE SAVE STAR. Hell ALL the little visual details with the save star are really fuckin neat!
Its clear that you and the people you work with put a LOT of work into these, and I always look foreward to seeing more. To an extent, you inspire me to work on my own stuff.
1:32 one of my favourite things in the secret boss theme songs i hear is looking for the freedom (jevil) leitmotiff, it's such a good detail.
This actually looks like this could be a part of Deltarune, so creative, groovy and funny.

Solis is definitely my favourite deltarune fanmade character right now, you do such an incredible job bringing him to life and making him really feel like part of the game. I just love this guy!!
There's some things i wanted to point out and speculations i have.
1- I know this seems a bit obvious but i really think this fight would be very similar to muffet fight in undertale, Considering the motifs/ references that can be heard on Solis theme. I personally think that the fight would have pretty much the same idea of muffets boss fight, but instead of moving through webs you'd move through vines.
2- i want to Focus on character desing for a bit, Solis desing is clearly based on plants, roses and those kind of stuff. Considering that made me look/think a bit about the fragmented and broken pieces on his desing.
Maybe im looking a bit too much into it, but its curious how after defeating the two secret bosses you receive a dark crystal that makes you see through the "dark" into the "reality". My theory is, the "present" that Solis received on his final show was a dark crystal that, quite literally, shattered his reality, thus giving him this broken and shattered
look.
3- if im somehow right on my second theory, i believe that receiving the dark crystal was the principal reason Solis left and never came back, maybe the burden of knowing the truth was just too much for him to bare, what made him a lot more distracted and shattered his purpose and will. So after all of it, he just gave up and ran away.
Not sure if its on purpose or not,but i love how this form of solis's arms look like single flower bouquets

JGGKGKGKF I LOVE IT, the art is incredible and that dance is very well animated it's as if you can see his desperateness and desire to go back despite not even seeing his face, the tweening is also really smooth and I absolutely love the spider dance motif.
I also love that silly annoying dog (the foam guy right?) you sneaked in there :)

Solis a wonderful dance in the dark world loved by darkners and lightners but at the last performance a sertin person gave solis a give of flowers and a crystal solis lost everything when he looked through the crystal. Now solis hide in the garden trying to get a new audience and found 3 lightners he found an opportunity to be free and redo so he tricked kris to gain kris' power to reset but the only thing he need to go back is a soul, but kris' frainds saved him and they start the battle solis is braking over time and if don't save him in time he won't be free but if you save him in ti.e he will be free.
This is ABSOLTELY AMAZING! I can tell that so much effort went into this! And how underrated it is. Most people scream 'Underated!!!' under every comment section, but I truly believe that this is devastatingly underrated. I believe this deserves waaay more attention that it has already recieved. Please keep up the great work!!

Also now I regret not including Solis instead of Sq//mp's Secret Boss in the Secret Boss tournament but it was Chapter 3 bosses mostly and idk if the garden world he's from would be in Chapter 3 or not.
if you look at the middle of the screen when the song enters the last part of the song, you can see gaster's face appear for a fraction o f a seconds!
OH YEAH, I didn't notice that before. Good find. That's a pretty nice touch to the song.
(for a bit clarification at to where/when it appears, it's between [1:55] and [1:56], when it fades from black to the last phase of the fight, it's very faint but visible, though it's easier to see if you slow the video down to 0.25x)
