I would also like to suggest the Tolsta tee. It has MANY modifications and has two yarn weights. It also has short rows. I have made two, each taking just a week and I only knit at night. She also mentions in her podcasts how she snugs up the collar, by casting on fewer stitches and then the row after the ribbing is done, adding back the number of stitches equally in that row. You’re doing great. My first sweater took a year!
Agree with the Tolsta tee! Working on my second one now. ❤ Great directions, it has short row shaping, and sizes up to 67.5 inch bust.

This was the first time watching your video and I want to say a huge thank you for this particular video.
I am a very new knitter so with every stitch I knit, I am learning something new. What discourages me as a new knitter is when watching a video and the video ends with a beautiful perfect project at the end. Especially videos that claim it is for beginner knitters. Then I try to knit and it is never as easy( or as perfect) as the person in the video can do. Then frustration and disappointment on my part cames in.
You show that mistakes are okay to make( & at times accepted) and even to frog a project that is almost complete is fine to frog!!!

I had the same thing happen to me with the barber cords!! I was so mad and now will not use them to try on my sweater because I'm so paranoid they will pop off. Recently I watched something that used the barber cords instead of waste yarn to do a provisional cast-on for a hat and that worked perfectly. So, I am happy to have found a use for them other than their original intent!

Thanks for the video Nicole. And while I'm sorry the sweater didn't work out for you, the things you learned from it (mainly the short row necessity) was really helpful to me. I'm on my 3rd sweater myself so there is so much I don't know yet. I know now, when selecting a pattern, paid or free, to look for short row shaping at the neck. That yarn does look lovely and your stitches are so pretty! You are a very good knitter!

Great video! There are so many ups and downs during the making…. My first sweater I mixed up the sizing, knit half of it and then ended up frogging… it sat for months before I could actually start pulling it apart! 29:53 My second sweater was the Autumn League Pullover by Two of Wands - great basic raglan with a sweatshirt fit, absolutely love it!! I have compared all my other sweaters to it! There is so much to learn in knitting sweaters but I love the challenge!

Hi Nikol, very sweet podcast, I used a RUclips video on how to knit a sweater and it turned out to small, I haven't tried again, I think I just might be a sock knitter, I have heard on petit knits website is a lot of free sweater patterns, haven't had the courage to try again, have fun camping my friend, hugs
Brilliant episode! Please do carry on with this kind of thing. Re the short row problem: I am exactly the same. It has taken me more than one knitting experience to admit finally that I really hate sweaters that are identical front and back. So uncomfortable and frustrating - and makes no sense at all when you think about it.

It is good to see some ‘misses’. The world of RUclips shows a lot of perfect knitters that knit patterns that work perfectly. 😅 IRL we all have sweaters that are complete fails or minor misses that we need to try to learn from so we can incorporate the learnings into the next attempt. It is good to see someone honestly address and work through challenges.

I’m sorry the sweater didn’t turn out the way you wanted. I’ve been knitting for a few years and I’m still learning. Each pattern teaches us something new.

I have been knitting for over 50 years and i still make mistakes and frog. Sometimes i throw the project on the floor and stomp on it 😅 and later i go back and can't find the mistake. We are using our hands, not machines.

Can I suggest the Creabea Tolsta T. It’s is a paid for pattern but offers so many options including finding ring & DK weight. I have made 5 of them now altering them with different fibres and also adding stripes, pattern stitch, longer sleeve etc. The pattern offers different pattern stitch alternatives.

I think the cotton/bamboo has a different weight. I think it’s much heavier🤷♀️🤷♀️
Cocoon is cotton and bamboo that is.
Coboo is a very different yarn than virgin wool in every way. Drape, elasticity, gauge, and weight. If the designer was using plant fibers, knitting it in wool is going to create a very different sweater.
Are you making your tee all in 1 day? I knit way slower than you. I would love you to video your fingers holding yarn and knitting. I need to learn to speed this up.

I HAVE HAD A DOUBLE MASECTOMY. LION BRAND COOBOO IS CLOSE TO 300 YDS I THINK. I HEARD YOU AT JUST THE MOMENT MY QUESTION WAS COMING OUT...I HAVE HAD A DOUBLE MASECTOMY AND IM FLAT AS A FLITTER! BUT I HAVE A 3XL BODY WHAT DO I DO? KNIT LIKE I HAVE 3XL BOOBS? NEEDLESS TO SAY MY BOOBS DO NOT LOOK LIKE GIRL ON PATTERN.
Hi Charlene! I think if you measure the circumference of the largest part of your upper body, that should give you an accurate starting point. I always measure the largest part of my stomach in addition to my busy size because I don’t like garments to hug my middle. 😬
