“Man in jean shirt” lol that’s what I will call Jim from now on
I saw Slipknot during The All Hope is Gone tour. I remember they did the (sic) test or whatever it's called (not the biggest Slipknot fan). So everyone got down on the ground, I was literally the only person standing in the front. Jim Root pointed to me signaling me to get down, I shook my head no, and he just put his arms out and shrugged. It's a funny memory that I have.
Jay Dude dare your disrespect the root haha

@@FloodExterminator
Yeah, a telecaster, stratocaster and the first edition jazz master, making this his 4th
The least jazzmaster like jazzmaster in existence, and yet that’s what makes it so amazing. Fender letting him take their design this far out is dope
This guitar is pure class, absolutely love it.
My boyfriend taught me metal music and I loved it and I am new to this but I enjoy music in fact I am learning to use the electric guitar seriously this message goes to Jim Root I wish you the best and thanks to your videos I am learning more about how play electric guitar thank you jim root for the way you are handsome
Would love to see a Fender Session with Jim Root (Similar to Tom Morello's session)
I always love listening to crazy metal that makes me headbang like there's no tomorrow, and then seeing how nice, chill, and fun most of the people that play that stuff are. It really makes me connect more with the music and gives me confidence that one day people could look up to me the same way that I look up to them. Keep inspiring Jim. :)
I don’t know how many times I’ve watched this video. I love this guitar.
Jim is by far one of my favorite guitarists ever, and definitely one of my main heroes.
Even though I'm not a huge fan of active pickups, or the minimalism of just having one single knob, the looks/aesthetics of this guitar model completely sold me, it's just a too big turn on.
I really wish that Fender/Squier comes up with a HH Jazzmaster back in the line for 2021, (like you did for the Modern Player Series) with looks similar to these (maybe a regular C chape 9.5" radius, but keep the block inlays, some cheaper wood for the body like Basswood, and I don't even mind if you change the type of bridge, or the humbuckers).
Love it when Matt Sweeney is doing the interviews. Dude seems chill.
2:12 the famous "twelve degree radius".

God, I love this man. His talent is undeniable.
Jim Root é o tio que todos querem ter, esse cara é muito humilde; além de tocar pra caralho, ele e o Mick Thonsom. Desejo todo sucesso do mundo 🇧🇷🔥🤘🏻🇧🇷🔥
Matt Sweeney just appears in my life with a dope interview with Josh Homme to playing with Homme and Iggy Pop to now this. This man is a legend.
Class interview from Freddie Mercury 10/10
Oh my gosh, this man is my guitar idol. He's the only reason I even picked the guitar back up.
I dig his guitar just don’t love the volume knobs position.
The reason it has minimal electronics (and probably weird volume pot position) is because they kept shorting out the instruments' electronics during sweaty shows.
@@omgvague and bumping them. The knob position is good for him since he uses it a lot live, right at his pinkie
That position is great if you do volume swell. Way more expressive than a volume pedal.
It's his guitar.
I would love a tone knob. Wonder how expensive it'd be to add one.
I love when jim does these vids with Fender. Reminds me of when i saw the tele one for the first time. One of my heroes
This guitar is just gorgeous 😍
Since my son was 5, I’ve been telling him you can hear words/emotions/a story from guitars. Jim is one of those guys that can make a guitar talk… ❤️ him and ❤️ Slipknot
Most heavy bands use Jackson's, ESP, Ibanez, etc.. Jim is over here playing dropped B on a Jazzmaster 🤯
It's a baritone I think correct me if I'm wrong
@@KenaiTobin It is not. It has a 25.5" scale length.
@@BillPinkNye nice
The sound is all to do with the pickups. The jazz master that he uses has open coil active EMG pickups
Wish Fender had these guy sit down and talk for an hour or two, love both of them.
I hope he gets signed to a band he has so much potential!!! Good luck.

Hearing All Out Life with this guitar made me love the song even more.

Fender, please post a video of just Jim jamming on this Jazzmaster! I'm sure there's more of what we see here in this video!
Jim Root is the kind of dude I would love to have as a mate. The kind of mate you could Not see or talk to for 9 years cause you left the country for a fucking random swedish girl, have a kid, get stuck, lose your mind, catch up randomly on facebook, go back home and meet up and NOTHING has changed, no judgement, no nothing, just back to mates... like a comfort zone of dependability and friendship.. guys a fucking legend

I’ve always wanted to know micks opinions on Jim’s guitars, mick likes a practical minimalist design as well. I wonder if they’ve fucked around on each other‘s guitars
They’ve definitely tried each other’s guitars. No way they haven’t
I think in the Rig Rundown they did with Premier Guitar like five years ago they talk a little bit about each others guitars. Long story short: they can't play them because of how different they feel.
But now that I think about it, back then Mick was with Ibanez. Now they are under the same parent company, they could do some marketing together.
What band members have never tried out each other's instruments lol
@YoStefan i feel like I remember years ago Jim saying that he used to play a dinky that he absolutely hated but I could be mistaken
Mick plays Jacksons and used to do Ibanez. Superstrats are a bit easier to go between brands, Jim's guitars look cool but I personally prefer the feel of a superstrat to a metal modded Fender
I cant get into bands without live instruments specifically because of the voice of an instrument. It's not telling u how it feels with words but u can still feel its feelings. Words aren't necessary.
Will the blood red one he used a lot during the .5 era tours ever be available?
Maybe as a limited custom shop or the Sandblasted one
Probably not because it's hard to make them in bulk quantities
After they trace the blood splatter with Luminol.
That one is BEAUTIFUL
I think Fender made only two of that guitar, and Jim owns both!
such an humble person, love from indonesia ❤️
Would be cool to see a squier version of his jazzmaster
Can we appreciate the clean playing in this video for a moment?
Wow he is so talented, he should play in a band!
Jim root is my guitar idol. I picked up the guitar before I got into slipknot and I had no idea what to play, but then I found slipknot and Jim root he has so much range, from nu-metal to jazz. Before I got into his music I was very bored with my guitar
Lol in the subtitles when jim was talking it said "Man in jean shirt"
The captions describe root as, "The man in jean shirt"
Speaks volumes
The subtitles said “[guy is denim jacket]”😂
He is one of the best guitar player that exists today and his Fender guitars are one of the best Jim Root the best
Right on! 🔥🙌
He’s just so chill and so cool can he just be my dad
Those open-coil EMGs are just the fucking coolest, so nice to see some more retro looking metal humbuckers after seeing the same black covers for so long
He's always sounded like a well spoken and distinguished stoner to me. And that's awesome. I mean just admit it you were blown away when you met the man behind the mask and he spoke.
Whatever he starts playing around 1:44 sounds pretty rad and eerie. I love it.
Yup, still love Jim.
He’s so amazing not to mention mick! And they just feed off each other and always have
Badass "You Know" Hipster Guitar Player!!
Mr.Root is a very underrated guitarist,he is awesome guitar player.
They really over complicated the tuning, it’s just Drop B.
even tho what jim says is correct yeah they coulda just said drop b
Drop B could be misunderstood as standard with a drop b.
@ By people who don't understand guitar tunings lol. Most guitarists know that Drop B is C# standard with the low E tuned down a full step to B.
While I get your point, there are artists like Zakk Wylde who sometimes use really strange tunings (like AADGBE, which is could be called drop A). Probably just said what he said to clarify and be extra specific.
I think he usually says that
one of the most well thought out artist guitars I’ve seen

"Easier to play chords and things like that." 🤔😄🎸
Can't imagine a world without Slipknot!
2:30 I don't think he knows what Luminol is, but he's been watching Forensic Files.
I think he meant Luminor. The correct name is Radiomir, it's a composite of phosphorus and radioactive materials made by an italian watchmaker (Panerai) back in the '20. It was used to light up watch indicators of scuba divers and scopes sights of the cannons of the italian Regia Marina. It should light itself up without using sun or light sources.
Jim is a very underrated guitarist in my opinion. Dude can shred.
I still hope they'll bring out a Squier version so that I can afford one

I got my Jazzmaster in a few days ago. Trust me...you won’t be disappointed. I have Chapmans, Gibsons, Ibanez (love them all). This Jazzmaster hits different and is by far my favorite. I’m in love with it and can’t put it down. I have the JR Tele as well. This Jazzmaster has a different feel and tone compared to the tele. The new neck style is more comfortable than his previous sig models. This guitar rips and is my prized possession.
