    I am located in Ft Myers and had a terribel experience with Southwest Florida Windows and Doors. Look at Shoreline windows for Low E, Impact etc... Need bronze Tint as well. I think the window comapny should have their own employees installing as well. Sub contractors simply don't care.

    I am so glad I found you! Thank you! I have always heard that vinyl was better than aluminum and then I went to a location in fort Lauderdale that told me the opposite. He said vinyl yellows and much more expensive than vinyl. I know its more expensive, but not the numbers he gave. What's your thoughts on Jeld-Wen?

    • @jasonv2323
      @jasonv2323  Год назад +1

      Jeldwin is a commercial builder grade window. I would not recommend. PGT,EAS,CWS. Are all good quality vinyl windows. We would never sell or install Jeldwin. First run vinyl will never yellow. Recycled vinyl will.

    Hi Jason, Thank you for making this video. I live in the central Florida area. What are your thoughts on Pella and Simonton compared to EAS or PGT? I have 13- 69x 52 and 5- 25x25 windows. Thank you in advance for your opinion.

      Pella and Simonton are out of state companies who are new to impact windows in Florida! Eas and PGT have been Florida based companies since they started and have decades manufacturing windows for floridas weather conditions! We as a contractor will not take on pella or Simonton until we have seen the longevity of their windows and how they hold up in Florida! I absolutely would say the much safer bet is EAS and PGT

    • @jasonv2323
      @jasonv2323  2 года назад +3

      I have never heard of Mr. Glass MG-200. I looked them up. From what I can see they are a very small operation compared to PGT. Mr. Glass is simply a very small window manufacturer who seems to be only in one market. PGT is a billion dollar a year company. So without knowing or seeing the mr. glass product I would say that there is no way Mr. glass has the technology or manufacturing equipment that PGT does. And with a manufacturer as small as mr. glass I would be concerned about warranties. Small businesses/manufacturers go out of business all the time. If they are not in business you cannot get parts for service/warranties. PGT is not going anywhere.

    • @Carlos.USA88
      @Carlos.USA88 2 года назад

      @@jasonv2323 thank you Jason, Mr Glass seems to be popular here in the Miami/Broward area. That is a very good point about the warranty.

    The aluminium windows nowadays have a thermal break inside, which blocks the heat and cold exchange, and it can get as efficient as a vynil window when it comes to temperature exchange. You should check that out.

    • @jasonv2323
      @jasonv2323  8 месяцев назад +1

      I’m aware of thermal breaks but none of the major manufacturers in Florida PGT,CGI,EAS, etc none of them offer a thermal break for impact windows! Yes a thermal break is good in theory but in Florida and for storms when you have a break in the frame the windows become vulnerable for leaks and water air infiltration during a storm with 100+ mile an hour wind and rain storms

    Silly question
    What is the pvc window rated for in terms of impact against medium sized objects? I understand the glass itself is impact resistant to a certain wind mileage and object size but if the equivalent object were to struck the pvc and not break the glass, will it break the pvc, crack, indent, warp it? Hope you understand my question. Thank you in advance

    • @jasonv2323
      @jasonv2323  Год назад +1

      Ir could crack but the good quality vinyl frames are reinforced with aluminum. So even if they get bent or warped your home is still protected from catastrophic damage

    • @jasonv2323
      @jasonv2323  2 года назад +2

      They are both very good vinyl window lines. The PGT 5500 series and EAS Bertha series are very similar. The PGT 5500 has a lifetime warranty on working parts locks, balances, screens, etc compared to Eas 10 year on working parts. The eas window has slightly higher design pressures because of a bit more aluminum inside the vinyl frames and an anodized T bar that pgts window does not have. Other than those two differences it's basically a coin flip. We have a showroom in Sarisota so yes we service that area. Go to the website for the local number and info Stormprotectionpros.com

    Excellent explanation. Recommend Impact Insulated windows in this area? Or just impact glass so heat and moisture escapes?

    • @jasonv2323
      @jasonv2323  2 года назад

      Insulated impact will be more energy-efficient. The good quality manufacturers like pgt and eas have 20-25 year warranties on windows getting foggy or moisture getting between the pains. They seal them really well so it's almost a non issue. There are some cheaper builder grade windows that do end up with those problems. Look at the warranties of seal failure with whatever manufacturer you choose. Make sure it's a long warranty.

    Also PVC my understanding is,
    One, it is glued at the mitres and doesn’t have a clean flush finish,
    Two, the frame will be bulkier and this there would be less glass to frame as opposed to say an aluminum frame
    Three, PVC cannot be painted successfully.

    Which windows better pgt or Eas?

    • @jasonv2323
      @jasonv2323  2 года назад

      They both have pros and cons. PGT has a lifetime warranty on working parts which is only 10 years with EAS. EAS has more aluminum reinforcement in the frames and a T bar on the bottom sash which equates to higher design pressure. They are both very similar vinyl windows and in my opinion and are both good quality window lines.

    • @jasonv2323

      In vinyl there is an increase in price on bronze or black. The warranty is also less because it's a treatment compared to vinyl being naturally white.
