Rocky and his co-pilot Winky are sent into space to try to foil a gang of space pirates who have been preying on cargo ships sent out by the United Worlds, and who have also captured Rocky's girlfriend, Venus. Rocky is aided by a new invention, "cold light," which, in much the same way as heat causes mirages to appear in the desert, causes an object to become so cold that it disappears. Unsurprisingly the space pirates are employed by sexy-but-evil Queen Cleolanta of Ophesius. (from wikia)

Watching this now on the Pluto Tv app. So nice to have Pluto tv dedicating a channel to MSTK continuously 24/7. Fun to tune into when everything else on television is crap.
I used to have it on my new l.g. TV and they took it off and made me mad,I used to watch it 24 hours a day

MST3K, RiffTrax, The Film Crew and more are streaming on the Tubi MST3K channel as well as the other platforms mentioned. But here we all are on RUclips. In part because unlike many live streams, we can comment/interact w/other MST3K enthusiasts. I appreciate free 24/7 live streams immensely, but RUclips and other free (and ad-free if you're hip) stream-on-demand platforms have a number of desirable qualities. Often, I'll "tune into" a live MST3K channel mid-episode and head to the nearest convenient on demand service to watch from the beginning or help me identify a movie, short or episode I've not screened in some time. In short, Tubi and the other live streams have that special TV-like "push" I'm-watching-with-many-other-fans-in-real-time media charm, but stream-on-demand is the ultimate source for MST3K and mostly everything else. Mostly.
Uncle Earl's Classic TV (UECTV) was better. BUT it got yanked about 4 months ago (tragic). It had everything. I went on Pluto TV once a few weeks ago, and my computer got hacked.

The trend of casting smart ass kids in roles like this is just pointless. It's just embarrassing, even for a cheesy show like this. When will low budget movie makers learn?
That was very popular in the 50's. I think it was to get parents' nipples all tingly now that they were pooping out boomer kids left & right and the older ones were off the bottle & out of diapers..
@@mikezylstra7514 It was supposed to make the shows appealing to kids by providing them with a surrogate for themselves. What adult writers don't understand is that kids don't want to be Bobby, they want to be Rocky.

Why didn't they do more soap operas? The overdramatic acting is perfect for this. Some priceless moments here.
Maybe because it's just too easy? that and they might not have had the rights to play a lot of those other soaps.
If AI could do anything, bring General Hospital back! While a internal medicine resident (1970's, Grace NW), that lounge was full of us, the interns, residents, nurses, the students, between 1:30 and 2:00. If you coded during that time...sorry, we're busy.

Maybe you should write to the producers of MST3K because that's what their is all about and that's why the viewers can laugh and criticize all they want. But I do get your point.

The host segment with Mike Nelson as Winky was pretty funny.

Loved General Hospital. When doing Internal Medicine rotations on 5NW, 1:30 - 2:00 we were all in the lounge glued to the TV, even the nurses. God forbid if an emergency arose on the floor @ 1:45. My girlfriend was a nurse at another hospital, same thing there.
One of my favorite episodes, and the General Hospital short is totally LOL.

This movie is a real hard slog! Hard to call it a movie when hardly anything moves--especially the PLOT!

LoneKharnivore An older build of an Ambrosia game named “Escape Velocity” allowed you to equip your starship with a weapon which was literally the “forklift,” a guided kinetic impact system. The deployment sound is literally Servo singing “They tried to kill him with a fork lift...” Newer builds removed the weapon, but still had the sound clip.

This early cast is my favorite. I always give extra credit for original parts of a series. With different players, or when these guys did their own thing, its not the same... so of course the upcoming episodes with Mike are my next best. Anyway they are all a guaranteed laugh.

Yes. Cornball, early "lo-tech" sci-fi movie with that mid 1950's family "formula" of close knit sibs with ages spanning > 15 yrs, to include a 8 yr old boy with remnant toddler tendencies when not intellectually engaged. Totally a setup for riffing.

Ah, the days when writing science fiction consisted primarily of adding the words 'space,' 'astro,' etc to normal nouns. IE: "space gun," "astro phone...."
It's not that much different with Star Trek and Star Wars today.
Really, the last scientifically accurate science fiction movie made was probably 2001: A Space Odyssey but it was so boring to the general public. And it was dramatically sterile. There's hardly a word of dialogue for a good chunk of that movie and the main bad guys are a stone monolith and a psychotic computer?!?
That and the waltz music was guaranteed to put people to sleep! (That's a problem I have with Disney's Fantasia as well...!)
Space opera which is what has been made since 1968 (for the most part) is generally more palatable and dramatically satisfying. Space opera is NOT hardcore science fiction. It's basically the late 20th century/early 21st century equivalent to the Western whether people want to admit it or not.
AvengerII I agree with you except for the part about 2001 being scientifically accurate. I'd agree that it ATTEMPTS accuracy to a certain degree.

The next episode is about Reggie's demotion and court martial for being a totally incompetent screw-up, who gives up completely as soon as the chips are down. If it weren't for Vena's quick thinking, Rocky would have blown their asses to smithereens.

Yeah, what exactly were those supposed to accomplish? Even if their clothes were somehow able to resist the vacuum of space (not to mention the near-absolute zero cold), their arms were still bare, so their blood would boil then freeze solid and they'd be dead inside of 15 seconds.

LOL, Just looked up the actor who played Winky. His bio is brutal. He was an Our Gang member for 2 years then was in a ton of films after that but had a drinking and gambling problem (and was a dealer) and was fired from this show because of it. He was run out of pictures and died at age 38 living his last dozen years on skid row. Rinkman the bad guy was flaming gay in real life and was with Judy Garland's 4th husband a long time. Ah, Hollywood.
