  • If you would like to purchase one of these VEVOR rotary flex shaft grinders, check out my published Sunday April 9 2023 where I am porting my 1100 and featuring this tool. I have an affiliate link and promo code in the description of that video.
    If you would like to support me and my projects, I have created a Patreon account. Regardless of the amount, every bit helps, will be put to use and is awesome motivation. Thank you so much !! / joel_a
    I now have some awesome merch available here. spark-bolt-cit...
    My second channel, Lowered Expectations, for extras, bonus clips, and random nonsense. / @loweredexpectations4927
    Actual description:
    In this video I do some porting on a KRASH KV997 engine, cylinder and case, show how to do port mapping and check port timing. I also talk about what tools I use, and announce my TeeSrping store for the very first time !
    Why is it that I see errors AFTER publishing, but not before, haha !? 11:48 I had written "try not to move" and then decided to change it to "do not move" but apparently didn't delete the word "to" haha.

      Awesome ! Stuff really is quite inexpensive these days. I hope to do a more detailed video when I do some porting on my 1100, but I'm nto sure when that will happen.

    Years ago on a flow bench. I remember a Magazine did a test on a 94 Polaris XLT. They gained 10% more efficiency on the engine. Just by port matching and polishing. Machine made 8 more HP vs a Non Polished engine with no jetting changes.

      That's awesome. That's right around the time when I started my first job working on Polaris and Yamaha... Oct 95 I believe.

    Hey Joel, I have done some porting jobs on car cylinder heads in the past on a flow bench, good to see you do it on the 2 stroke engines , very interesting, love the video , cheers mate

      Right on ! I haven't done many 4 cycles ... they are easier in some ways, and more difficult in some. You have to be careful around valve stems and valve seats, but there are fewer ports and most of the time stuff is easier to get at. There's also usually a lot more to be gained from porting a 2 cycle if you do it right, haha.

      Yeah... Jacob seems to think that it will be too large for the X2, or at least difficult. I have some big plans for this engine IF all works out... but you know how it is with plans, haha.

      Thanks ! I had no idea how much work it would be when I started. I have lots more ideas and plan on doing much more clever / unique jetski / engine based stuff. I was inspired to do this somewhat by your SeaRat and General JetSki merch, haha.

    I LOVE your store! I usually am not a chump for that stuff but I think I'm going to get some stuff. This video put Milo to sleep. I'm excited to see how the pipe turns out for that thing. Do you think the porting you did will feel night and day better or just a nice pick up?

    • @JoelArseneaultYouTube
      @JoelArseneaultYouTube  Год назад

      HAHA... So this isn't Milo's new favorite video, haha !!
      I put a lot of thought, believe it or not, into these designs and ideas and I actually redid all of them like 3 times before I was happy. I ordered myself a port map hoodie and the 650 head long sleeve t (and a few stickers).
      I'm excited about this project as well. I didn't ride it before, and I'm pretty sure it probably never worked 100%, but YES... The porting that I did / do will increase the bottom end for sure, and also probably free up a few HP on top ... I wanted to do some tunnel porting on the cases BUT I'm not sure how strong these cases are, and I don't know if I want to be the first person to remove a bunch of material from around the bearings, haha.
      Thanks for the comment !

    Where did you find your right angle rotary tool? I haven’t been able to find an electric one.

    • @JoelArseneaultYouTube
      @JoelArseneaultYouTube  Год назад

      The rotary tool (motor and flex shaft) is from VEVOR and it uses quick change ends that pop on and off. They are called "Foredom style". The 90º attachment came from Amazon. The one I got is labeled "JUMYNOOY 90 Degree Handpiece for Foredom"
      I hope this helps.

    Nice Merch, but I thought krash engines are supposed to suck.

    • @JoelArseneaultYouTube
      @JoelArseneaultYouTube  Год назад +1

      Thanks ! Not everything that sucks is bad... Like ... Objectively, yeah, maybe it sucks, but subjectively ... it's got a backwards K on the side of it and it looks cool.
      But in all seriousness... if that's possible, It's a 1000cc twin with a modern / decent port layout / timing, It uses the same basic bore and stroke of the CR 500 (times two)... I see some odd things with this engine, but there's nothing that I see, so far, that make me think that this engine should have any issue making lots of power. From a performance standpoint, it is worlds ahead of an 1100 triple. I did notice that the power valves don't seem to open all the way and I suspect that this would affect top end power quite a bit as it drastically lowers the port timing. I plan on cutting back the ends of the valves (or making spacers or modifying them to get them to open if possible) but want to think about it a bit more first... Doing this will / could cause it to lose some bottom end power, but I suspect it is a worthwhile trade.
      If they are held back by anything, it could be poor pipe design. I have taken down all of the info on the porting and I am curious to punch it into a calculator and see if the supplied pipe is even close.

      @@JoelArseneaultRUclips as a rider, I care more about bottom end and how reliably the power will come on when I squeeze the throttle. The thing is, I have a buddy who put a big engine, it's not even a jet ski engine it's so big, it's like a car engine. Anyway he put it in in a sit-down jet ski and I feel like he might care more about top end speed 🤷

      @@jasonskibrothers2192 😂🤣 😂🤣 😂🤣 😂🤣 GOLD
      I know a guy that put a big engine in his ski, went through the cost and trouble of installing a impeller that was designed to hook up for good bottom and midrange ... HOWEVER, he didn't bother tuning the engine properly, or putting water tight electronics on it... so most of the time when you pull the throttle, you have no idea what's going to happen. It might go, it might die... it might go a little and then stop abruptly making you smash you knee into the trim bracket...
      Like... make up your mind. Also, Pretty bottom hull where no one can see, ugly on top and it tops out at 55 mph.

      @@JoelArseneaultRUclips you know, I know a guy who pulls b-pipes and aftermarket parts off of his skis and buy stock parts to install on them. It seems like he doesn't give a crap about high-end performance, anything that they're more likely to just run all the time if he does that. Also the guy knows nothing about jet skis.
