Thank you so much for bothering to record and put this video online. Very clear instructions! I just wanted to get to the rollers to clean them, but now hubby says we will replace the bearings at the same time. It'll be like having a brand new machine.
@@allyscraftycreations It's all done. And I'm so glad that he gave the measurements for the bearings (30 x 12 x 9) because a lot of the bearings online with the same part number 6200 Z are ( 30 x 10 x 9) which would have been too small. So thanks for that. It's 16 years old and now set for another 16!
Well I watched it, but I would NEVER EVER be able to remember how to put that thing back together 🤣😂. I think it’s a guy thing who have natural instinct to tinker with these kinds of things. I got lost after the first 6 screws 😂.. You earned your thumbs up.
Bravo for fixing this Big Short for your wife! Now it's good as new! You did such a great job of showing how you fixed this, I do believe I could attempt my own repair, should the need ever arises. I'm a widow, so don't have a husband to fix things for me. Great job and thanks for sharing this video!!!
Whenever I take something apart, I have 1 or 2 paper plates, and I tape the screws and other parts to the paper plate and # them and note where they go back. Then I can just reverse the process and don’t have to remember, just follow my ‘map’. TY for the tips, going to try this with my exact same model.
@@allyscraftycreations I have a swivel fan that I take apart once a year, and at the very inside is a small spring, that I replace with a clicker pen spring, so it goes back to swiveling right again. ☺️ I love keeping things out of the trash, and money in the bank, instead of the other way around. When something is solid and well made, like this Sizzix, that’s possible! Thanks again.
My fella does something similar to your paper plate method, tho no taping down. Me? I use a 6 pk foam egg carton I latched onto long ago from some gas station / convenience store along the Interstate somewhere. Each “layer” of a project gets its own divot, and if it looks like it’s going to be r e a l l y complicated, I take pictures. So far it’s working!
Thank you Hubby! Saving this for my hubby when it’s needed. You’re the best for showing this. Wanna come over and get me left brake on my bicycle to quit seeking, even though it was professionally gone over? (LOL)
Thank you for helping me save my BigKick. I had taken it apart once already to clean out the paper bits but after putting it back together it still wasn't working. Checked around for some more videos to go deeper into the problem as I suspected it was something in the bearing part. Your video was what I needed to see to know how to take out the bearing chambers. One of mine fell apart as soon as we tapped it out. Found the correct parts on Amazon, and it's all back together and working! For those that are worried about all the screws and where they go back, just take a picture of each screw next to the holes so you remember.
I am currently experiencing bearing issues with my Bigkick so I must ask, wdid you install the 12x30x9 bearing? I was questioning whether or not the Bigshot and the Bigkick had the same size bearings. Thank you.
Thanks for watching here is a link to the video of it working ruclips.net/video/ze8B4pO8rtU/видео.html I mostly emboss but can show it cutting at some point 👍😁
Hi Ally (& Mr Ally 😊) thanks for posting this!!! Just a comment or two for anyone else out there. My Sizzix Big Shot was purchased in 2013 & stopped working a few weeks ago. It's one of the limited edition pale blue versions, the long side panels took a bit of messing about to remove but I used a flat head screwdriver. I got there in the end, cleaned it up, tightened some loose screws and oiled the mechanism. Sadly my machine still isn't working but it was worth trying and can't complain after 11 years of heavy use!!! It's been a fantastic reliable machine and I'll definitely be buying another one. Appreciate your post. Thank you, my name is also Ally (Allison, Scotland) ❤ did it myself without help from my Mr Ally 😂😂 however, I might ask him to try & see if I missed something 😅
Hiya, the bearings are gone sadly, my other half confirmed 😢 I've ordered a new one but it was definitely worth taking apart first so thanks again to you both x
Great informative video. Had to replace both bearings on the gear side but no problem apart from removing the spring clips being a bit of a faff. the link to the bearings was a great help too and saved a lot of online search time. thanks again.
Well this was just amazing! What a great husband! I hope I never have to do this, but at least I know what it looks like inside just in case. Thank you for sharing this.
I am currently trying to fix a different issue on a different die cutting machine... BUT your video helped me to get into the inside of mine and locate my problem!!..... Small gear had some of its teeth broken off !... Now just hoping I'm able to find a replacement part for that small gear!?!? Fingers Crossed!!..... Then I should have it back to a working condition!!.. Thanx for making the video and sharing it with all of us here on RUclips!!
@@allyscraftycreations Mine is the Sizzix Big Kick (red/white). Maybe like their first version of that machine, not sure??... But I had kept looking at it for a few days not being able to figure out how to get access to the gears. Hi what a fabulous and informative video. I am having problems with my Big Shot and came across it. After watching this I feel confident to have a go at repairing it. Thank you for the link. I have taken the machine apart and two of the teeth on the small gear which sits on the spindle in the handle have sheared off which I assume is causing it to jump back. Do you have any idea where I would be able to get another one from? The bearings appear to be ok. Thank you in advance.
