Great shots. You were even able to get a CSX coming out of the tunnel. Nice. This is a very scenic area, especially the part where the Shenandoah and the Potomac meet on the other side of the trestle. And of, course the Harpers Ferry Station is cool too!!! Don't know if its still there, but just on the otherside of the station there was a box car where inside was a model railroading club.
The Potomac River has been really high since recent rains over the last week. Lots of debris in the water there at HF and you won't see any inner tubers in that water. Nice video as always.
Alot of sideroad bridges were flooded. When i was driving to Gore, VA to take photos of the Winchester & Western Locos parked. (There were 6.) One train was canceled due to one of the tracks flooding over near a grade crossing.
@howardkevinm The track to the right-crossing the 1860s era truss bridge-goes on to Winchester VA and connects with the Norfolk Southern and the Winchester & Western out of Gore VA.
Good work! Who was up on the cliff? Looks Like a dangerous spot for viewing. When I watched your Vid, I wondered how bad it was for soldiers in the Civil War. Tomorrow I hope to get out to Great Falls NP to look and take some pics. Heck, we've had so much rain lately that every gully, much less river, is overflowing. Not best time for hiking.
There is a really great view from the top of Maryland Heights. Thomas Jefferson once said "...the view is worth a voyage across the Atlantic." I say "The view is worth a trip down I-70!"
@trainmasta227 I was there myself shooting photos of the equipment in the yard in 2010 and (I think) 1996. In '96 there was a loco with some damage on it, and even in 2010, the damaged loco has yet to be repaired!
@bullfrog1954 Yah thats what i ment. They are using it for parts. Its cool. The engine of it is sitting outside behind some hoppers. The wheels are sitting on the side of the building too
@trainmasta227 Just looked up my photo. It's numbered 709 in my pic from January 25 2009 (not 2010 as I originally thought), but if that's the one you're referring to, that's it! Sitting right there at the crossing.
Beautiful when there is a big water! Beautiful scenery - the mountains!

Great vid! You missed a coal train in Martinsburg at around 6, though. Still, great video and keep up the great work!
did they just open up that area? i dont remember ever being able to walk right down from the station to there.
Nice catch!

Thanks you, Videos very nice,
There was a perfect coal train that went by at 6:00 o'clock in Martinsburg!
That looks about 30 or 40 foot above normal. Does anyone know of any lines shut down by flooding?
Very nice video.
Thank You and Thumbs Up.
Many Greetings
Andreas
