I've played through The Witcher 3 probably 4 times, and spent 100s of hours in it. I've been waiting so long to play again on PS5. SO EXCITED!!
Right there with you. Good luck on The Path.
Damn must be nice
@@MrLachapell They have been easy to come by this last month , I got a digital edition for 400 bucks from target .

@@abniobgnuoy9698 I have a gtx3070 PC, but its only used for PCVR or the rare PC exclusive. Multi plats i'd rather play on my xbsx. Overall it gives a better experience.
I have 500+ in this game. I was honestly pretty exhausted by it and thought I had run my interest out on it, but with this update it feels like a fresh experience. I’m probably doing one final play through, and watch that anniversary video and cry again.
Good to read that, so its an unspoken rule, everyone who finished the game watch the anniversary video once for all, I thought It was just me.
500+ minutes? Nice
This was my 3rd and final playthrough for the foreseeable future I just finished. By accident I installed the PS4 version and my first thought was “Why does this run like trash?” Thank god I noticed it right away lol.
It looked insane before, and now it looks insanely fucking gorgeous.
Seriously! It blew my mind how beautiful the game was back then, and even the vanilla graphics somewhat hold up today (maybe not vs UE5 games). This is gonna be INSANE!
DLSS alone is going to be a HUGE game changer on PC, which isn't even mentioned in this video. The terrible aliasing in the original game was my biggest problem with it, even at very high resolutions, and there is no mod to fix that.
@@TheRailwaystationistExactly! I’m really looking forward to being able to use DLSS on PC so I don’t have to choose between ray tracing and 60FPS. The last time I played the game was at 1440P on a 1070. Replaying the updated version at 4K with a 3080 will be sweet.
Wait till you see Toussaint with RT
@@Piketom1 Can't wait to play it too on pc with a 3070 with raytracing. last time I finished witcher was back when I have my PS4, 30fps never bothered me back then. This is gonna be awesome
That quick Sign feature seems so obvious that I don't understand why that original selection menu ever existed.
This is probably the last update we'll ever receive for this masterpiece. Enjoy it while it lasts ladies and gents
Or like GTA V, until the PS12
Ah I think it’s got one more coming. It’ll probably get a framerate boost for the raytracing mode whenever the next batch of consoles come around
Yep, and then we'll get a new witcher game!!

Last significant update probably, but I think it's a safe bet that there will be patches fixing any potential bugs with this release.
Music, lore, atmosphere in this game is just priceless 👌 my favorite game all time. Witcher 3 is a classic.
I’d say so too.
it is all but impossible for me to say "the one" favorite game because they are all so different.
However, The Witcher 3 ranks up in my favorite games of all times.
Others would be:
Bloodlines
Stalker (the mods are insane)
Subnautica
Valheim
I just love good games

A MASTERPIECE!
Coming from a person who started playing the Witcher 3 on the PS4 slim (1080p TV) and then migrated to the PS5 with a 4K TV, this update looks and feels absolutely INCREDIBLE. With the improved graphics & framerate, and the addition of Haptic feedback and smoother controls, playing this again feels like a fresh experience! I'm jealous of all you PC users who've had the opportunity to experience this masterpiece as it was intended for years. Hats off to CDPR for providing this update for free and to everyone else reading this good luck on The Path!
Is there any update for ps5 …
One thing I haven't seen mentioned in the 10s of these vids I've seen is that you sprinting doesn't drain your magic bar anymore! I can't be the only one that loves this. Also probably huge for speedrunning
After this, I don't even ride on Roach within Novigrad. Just sprint around the city all day and it's so much convenient than before
@Kx xK what ? Annoying? That litetally takes away from the immersion you might aswell have no stamina drain while attacking ? Dodging ? Wtf
@@mVpkilla93I think the best way would be to only not consume magic when not in combat but sprinting around in combat should drain it as usual
no more werewolf decoc
@@mVpkilla93 according to the lore a witcher should be able to run non-stop for hours on end. So the change should actually be more immersive.
And it's not a magic bar, it's literally called stamina.
As a PC player, who's never bothered to learn how to mod, and a MASSIVE Witcher fan, this is so exciting to me. I Look forward to run through the game for the umpteenth time. And another excuse to get that Witcher tattoo I've been meaning to get

Don't be discouraged, it's not as time consuming as you'd think
@@nfdhje38743m it's not that I'm particularly discouraged, I just don't really care to mod, it's really difficult for me to explain my reasonings, but I have just as fun with unmodded games
@@EVMjimmy Trust me, you say that. But once you've actually entered the world of mods, it's impossible to go back.
There's so much more than just Quality of Life modding. You've got entire new quests, items, textures, skills, reshades, music, skins and so so so much more. There is no game that doesn't get better with mods.
I think you owe it to yourself to watch a guide some day, you'll be modding in no time. It's why millions of people are still playing Skyrim every day 11 years later.
i prefer to reference the netflix nilfgaardian armor as the " black ballsack set"

Got Witcher 3 in June 2021, deliberately waited for the next gen update. So excited to get started!
I think it’s out on 2 more days.
Out in less than 24 hours
That was a long wait
Whoa. Fellow Patient gamer! It’ll be epic
I got it around the same time, but I just couldn't be bothered waiting so long. I finished it a month ago.
Those sunset soaked fields in White Orchard, holy, I was not expecting it to look this beautiful when it's already visually impressive pre-patch.
As per Digital Foundry, reflections are not raytraced on console, but SSR has been implemented and improved. I think raytracing only applies to Global Illumination and Ambient Occlusion (which only come into effect in the 30fps mode). Luckily, improved SSR applies to both the 30fps and 60fps modes, so still a noticeable improvement from last-gen (along with other upgrades you mentioned).
Edit: Improved* SSR is in fact not included in performance mode, which is kind of surprising.
I thought DF said the improved SSR does _not_ make it into performance mode. Hm.
@@williamcrms Honestly from what I've seen reflections and water as a whole look better and sharper on performance mode..
@@ivayloborov3462 I believe that performance mode, as with last gen, is likely using static cube map reflections. These can be sharper and do not have the same artefacting/disocclusion problems as SSR, but they also tend to be much less accurate to their surroundings.
Edit: A basic form of SSR is in fact used on last-gen/vanilla PC (this is unchanged in performance mode on current gen consoles AFAIK).
@@ivayloborov3462 performance mode also most likely has better consistency on the dynamic resolution. Ray tracing mode probably down scales a bit. There's already talk of some performance issues on raytracing mode for people who've received it early or have started today.
@@Epiousios18 the default SSR in performance mode is still an improvement over last-gen. It’s the “Raytraced” mode that includes the even further improved SSR.

Between the main game, DLC and mods, this has to be my favorite game of all time.
I paused my first playthrough of TW3 when the next gen upgrade was announced like two years ago. So psyched to jump back in.
Same here. I had finish the main story and was starting the expansions, but stopped when I hear of an update. I will be starting over again, so I can enjoy all over from scratch.
You should probably start over duck unless you plan to watch a all of the cutscene video up to the point you got to because otherwise I’d find it hard to remember it all after that long
Yep me too! I lost my save file on PC about 20 hours in back in 2015 and wanted to reply last year, I played a few hours in on PS5 but soon as I heard about the upgrade I decided to put it down until we got the 60fps - cannot wait to get back on it again! 60 fps Witcher 3? A wet dream lol.

I first played and beat the game twice back to back in 2017. I had tried to play it again but never followed through, as with time the age began to show. This update finally gives me a chance to relive my favorite open world rpg of all time. Even if just one more time.
What you're looking at with 30fps mode is actually screenspace reflections for the water, which is why they go away when you point the camera down (it falls back to the simplified reflections). Performance mode and the original game did not use full screenspace reflections, instead having simplified reflections. Detailed SSR like this does have a noticeable framerate impact in games, which is probably why it's in the 30 fps mode. Not sure to what extent raytracing is used for reflections, if at all. Maybe on the PC version.
PC has access to the full ray-tracing suite (Shadows, reflections etc.)
There are no RT reflections on consoles. This video is funny.

Anyone watching this today, it has been further updated to include Quick Oil applications and Bomb changes in the radial menu too.
So refreshing to see a normal scheduled video being dedicated to charity❤️
at 4:50 this is because the game is using "screen space reflections" which is the "easiest" and most lightweight way to do good looking reflections. There is zero ray tracing involved in this so I don't know why they call this Ray Tracing mode. Reflections are not ray traced at all. Kinda awkward since at least PC was already using screen space reflections before in the old version of the game so I don't know whats really new about this update. Not that I care too much about ray tracing tho, screen space looks great already (should be able to do 60fps with screen space tho)
Why do people think you have to pull up menu for signs? while on combat all you have to do is hold the block button and move left or right on the D-pad to change the sign without ever having to pull up the sign menu

A quick correction, the raytracing effects global illumination, meaning the, indirect lights, not reflection. Reflections are still screenspace (reflects what have been already rendered, but flipped instead. that's why the reflection disappear at tight angles).

Those water reflections aren’t raytracing, they’re screen space reflections. The actual raytracing you get with this is global illumination which basically affects how light bounces off surfaces in the world. This is most noticeable when indoors or the shading on Geralts armor and chain Mail and results in darker richer shadows
Pc version has proper RT, buts its extremely demanding and quite unoptimized. Even RTX 4090 struggles if you don't use dlss and frame generation ( frame generation only on RTX 40 series cards ).

Take notes Bethesda, Skyrim Anniversary Edition could have done some polishing. 10 years later for some copy paste and creation club mods, COME ON!!!
This looks great, like that they've added some QoL changes to the update as well as just graphical improvements, and the fact that it's all free and not a re-release. Time to do my 4th full playthrough of my favourite game, hope my laptop can do it justice, it can run 2077 on high so should be good for my standards (Idk about having everything on ultra with 60fps as long as I've got a smooth framerate and enough stuff turned on to show off the updated graphics).
I much prefer the centered camera. Playing with the offset camera always feels awkward and uncomfortable to me. It feels like im playing games with one eye shut. It also makes moving the camera feel more awkward to me. Ultimately its also a game. I want what I am doing to be centered. I don't mind cinematic camera angles in cutscenes and stuff but I have always hated this offset camera - especially in shooters.
agreed. I was fine with it in god of war and other games, but for the witcher, centered and drawn back feels better.

Just bought this game for $15 and currently watching the Netflix series. Can't wait to start my first playthrough
I put 20 hours in my 3rd and final attempt to get into TW3. I just couldn't get into the game. Geralt comes off as the cartoonish fantasy of a basement gooner, and I found both the world and the Marvel-tier character relationships eye-rollingly drab and cliché. I remain unconvinced that those who hype this game have played much outside of Sony's modern-era, formulaic exclusives.
Same for me but i just installed again for the 4th time hopefully will play through this time

Not only do I prefer 60+ fps, but I weirdly preferred the performance modes water reflections on that lake for some reason.
playing games on 30 fps is horrible
I know I am late to the party and somebody has probably mentioned this before, but the Next Gen update doesn't have Ray Traced Reflections on console. Reclections are handled by improved SSR on the quality mode, that is why they look better but still show all the typical artefacts of screen space techniques. Ray tracing is used for GI and AO.
Also, PC players recieve the above mentioned Ray traced GI and AO, and on top of that they also get reflections and shadows. Also, they get new ultra+ settings that look way better than the game ever did. The claim that PC already had all these features is false.
Dissapointing to see such a big channel being so misinformed.

nah overrated is red dead redeption 2 .. or any dark souls
The artefacts in the water are due to the the fact that the reflections are done with cube maps with screen space reflection on top. If the objects are not present in screen space, the reflections disappear, with only the cube maps left, which normally tend to be inaccurate.
If the reflexions were done with ray tracing, the artefacting would be lesser, or even non present (if done completely with ray tracing).
i don't like the new cam mode.
Good that you can change it back in settings
so glad my first playthrough is gonna be the enhanced version. ive got 20hrs in the game and i love it so much already
I rly rly hate the new angle. Glade they made us able to change it.
Quick Casting makes combat sooo much better. I'm glad it's finally been added.
4:46 look again . see the large cloud above the houses , when reflected it probably got some green from the water and gave you a "tree" impression.
The new quick sing feature is so amazing. Also, there will be a new fast travel point for the Crow's Perch much closer to the fort.
Gerald can sing now? How ? I lost that, what minute?!
@@g3orgeK. Probably meant the quick sign feature, not sing.
