Oh I forgot to mention Gwent. I've ALWAYS skipped the mini-games within bigger games like this. But it's hooked me too. You're right, it's such a nice change of pace
I don't think you'd actually want to be an NPC in this game. Most normal people are miserable in the Witcher universe, it seems like SOMEONE hasn't been paying attention to the series..
Just preparing for my new game plus playthrough for 6th time. Can't get over the adventurous long journey of witcher 3 and it's DLCs. Death March, enemy upscaling and no huds is the best way to enjoy this game. I play as I like and follow my heart and just lose myself in the world of witcher 3 pure experience. 💙
I think the bad loot makes sense from a lore perspective. Geralt's job requires high quality gear that costs a fortune. soldiers and deserters usually wouldn't have equipment of equal quality unless they're high-ranking officers and/or nobility or a very lucky bandit.
Dude i did the same, i'm currently level 4 and it feels AMAZING... we have had so many crappy games lately, that this jewel feels like god level tier... and complementing it with mods... perfection.
This is a game that will give back the exact amount you put into it. And the quick sign cast is a total game changer, the combat flows so damn well now and looks so cinematic
When it comes to random loots.. U have to always pickup everything u find. If you're full just travel and sell & dismantle the heavy stuff. There are herbs and loot in first map (vizima) which you'll need when u are in novigrad
Im replying this game again and honestly this game still has me hooked like before and playing it in default camera settings feels much better than the close setting
@garrydalton1580 I'm now at 180 hours in my first playthrough and just starting the DLCs... man, I feel bad for ignoring my cousins in 2015 when he suggested this game. But also good cause I get to have this experience now, and it runs so beautifully well now, and the quick casting and graphics are top notch. And it was the first game to really grip me in ages! I'm also reading the books and on the 4th one now and that makes it all the better. Kinda obsessed at the moment... even got the soundtrack playing here and there haha
Im playing this full for the first time currently and the man some of these side missions are stories within their own and feel like main missions, the story and characters as well as voice acting is top notch
Love this type of content sir! Always a good time when you just go through and play something and comment on it, but love to hear your more structured and critical thoughts. Definitely keep doing more like this.
I've just done the same. It's just as good as when I first played it near 10 years ago. Another area this game excels at that you didn't touch on is the music, second to none. Also Gwent!
I just started another play through today. Forgot the next gen update came through. 1440p absolute maxxed with RT is just nuts to look at. As if it was released yesterday....
This is the kind of video I've always liked the most on your channel -- glad to hear some more of them may be coming back. For example, it would be cool to see you add AC Liberation and Freedom Cry to round out that series.
It is far from a perfect game, but what is good about it is SO good. It just feels like home to me, when I hear that White Orchard music on another playthrough.
I enjoyed this format and understand what you're mean about the more comedic route. With certain games especially, there's just a new perspective that doesn't necessarily come through in straight gameplay.
I like the new video style. A well thought out review, instead of a playthrough. Collect and arrange your thoughts, it was a good video. You hit on a lot of good points
As someone who’s spent over 400 hours on this game, I played it for the first time in 2022 with the update, I can now say the only thing I don’t like, is the fact that you don’t get the cape and a hood, and also the combat isn’t the best with the constant spins but that’s how Geralt fights I guess, but yeah, not much criticism for the game it’s amazing, everytime I try and go back to it now tho I give up, just doesn’t feel the same anymore but 400 hours is a hell of a long time, can’t believe I played it for that long.
@@_.CM96 fair complaint regarding the combat. On PC you have the luxury to mod both the combat as well adding wearable hoods to the game, however the console version is fresh out of luck.
I don’t think you can get a cape, but if you upgrade the Cat School Witcher gear to Grandmaster quality in the Blood and Wine DLC it adds a hood to the chest piece. As far as I know it’s the only hood type gear in the game, but it does look pretty badass, especially if you use dyes on the armor. Also I’m pretty sure the constant spinning and rolling style is just how Witchers are taught to fight, at least in the game cause in cutscenes that’s how Geralt, Lambert, Eskel, and Letho fight.
@@docproc144 Geralt is more commonly described as pirouetting in the books, I’d say the original, unmodded gameplay leans too heavily into the rolling around, which does look a bit stupid when constantly spammed.
@@lewissharpe4695to be fair you could simply use heavy attacks if you’re not a fan of the spinning animation, they are not as slow as a lot of people might think and you can just simply make a heavy attack build which is reeealy fun. It also makes the game a little more tactical because of the slightly higher build up time before you strike, plus the harder hits can be more satisfying.
I agree completely and like you I love the game but I've beaten it 4 or 5 times and I know the game so well I've done everything and now as soon as I start playing it becomes like a chess game in my head you know the out come of every move so why bother to move the pieces and it becomes a drag but that's only because I've played it so much.
Unlike a lot of people , i too never liked the close up camera in the next gen upgrade. You for the most part played on the default camera mode ,i liked it.
I just finished Witcher 3 for the first just the other week and loved it. I'm on the first DLC and can't wait to see what Blood and Whine has to offer. Also I'd to love to see more videos like trhis
I'm doing the same, I still play this game all the way through every year since release. I'm currently in Skellige, It's my favourite place in the entire game, reminds me of home. Don't ever stop playing guys !
Best Witcher 3 review and breakdown I’ve come across. Never made it far in the years I’ve owned it and now with the ps5 update… think it’s about that time to give this amazing game a real shot! Thanks again
Top 3 best games ever made, I also restarted it for like the hundredth time, I play through it like every other month 😭😭😭 I love it so much, it's so fucking good
I'm on the same boat here, played the game and now reading the books and man I can't believe I was missing this much context. Also shows you how much CD Projekt put into making the game book accurate.
Bro I played the game through 3 times. Just started messin with an old save (main quest finished but not dlc) & holy sht there’s still sooo much to do. I’m like how tf did I have time for this back in the day?! 😂
Good stuff buddy. I like both style of vids you do - as fun as the "livey" style is I feel there is definitely room for the more measured approach you do here...... especially if it also keeps things fresh for you too. Take it easy
My personal favourite game of all time, it's very easy to see exactly why this is considered game of the decade of the previous decade. I also played on my Nintendo Switch too for a second play through and i have to say, it's a very solid port on the Switch..
Your point of memorable locations hit me because from the start of the video I was recognizing where you were or what quest you were in the middle of. Very well thought out and beautiful locations mixed with rich story and challenging but learnable combat (for me at least) and solid graphics makes this game a forever classic.
I think I went from from Final fantasy 7 on PS1 being my favourite game of all time with nothing coming close until i played Witcher 3 in about 2016. Funnily enough I played a few hours and got bored. However i went back to it and just became submerged in the story. It is still now my favourite game of all time, including BG3 which I think is amazing. Its the atmosphere and the music, along with an incredible game that just make it a true classic!
I’ve never used fast travel in this game. Whenever I had to go to another far away location. I went on horseback and considered it a journey, because I would get sidetracked all the time and experience many different quests/unique experiences just on the road to my destination. That’s where this game shines. But it’s not annoying in your face quest markers etc… It’s a genuinely natural experience uncovering these hidden things
Best game ever! Watching this a few weeks before my new, 4th playthrough yet, this time with modes. If you didn't play and immerse yourself in this masterpiece, you missed in life....
I can only speak for myself; but I quite like these types of videos. I think I originally followed you due to the AC videos you used to make that were similar to this. I like your other content as well but figured I'd mention.
I didn't read the books until right before the show started, and when i jumped into a new run starting with witcher 2 and man i didnt realize just how much i didnt appreciate or really understand
Recently got platinum trophy for witcher 3 and for anyone who is trying to go for platinum i would advise you to play on death march (hardest difficulty)from start and play through dlc when you are at certain level and final fights will be easy
Just finished my first playthrough and wow i wish i could go back and experience it all for the first time again. Ive had the game sitting on my shelf since it came out i never got around to play it and honestly im glad i waited i can appreciate it more now. What a masterpiece of game making
One of my favorite memories of this game is exploring a cave during my trip to the quest objective and finding a relic sword and finding out it is a very strong sword (ultinum). I’m currently doing new game plus on my last save where I was level 53 and am absolutely loving playing through the story and exploring the world on a character that I had progressed previously 2 years ago on my first playthrough of the game.
I'm 1,300+ hours across all my playthroughs, and I have to say that this is/was the gsme of the generation for me. Nothing else even comes close. Watching this video made me re-download it for another 300+ hour run...
Finaly yesterday i got the All games(w3 got it in 2015(edit XD), w1 around 1-2years ago and yesterday w2. Last week i bought the DLCs for W3) and i cant wait to play them all and finish them😊
I totally agree with the point about the loot and lvls, which is why i always play this game with the no lvls mod. Now it may sound weird at first to have no lvls in an rpg, but imo it makes the game a lot more enjoyable and immersive cause geralt does not get 1 shot by a drowner just because it has a higher number then him. the whole game and its progression becomes based on the skill tree and the quality of the gear rather then some artificial numbering.
Regarding the loot issue, it doesn’t only come down to a weapons damage number. There are a lot of interesting relic swords you can find during quests or in the open world which have certain percentage buffs which can be very useful, even if the damage number itself is lower than swords for your current level. My storage chest is full of cool swords, from which only a view are actual good end game weapons of course, but still. For me the loot system is very fun. Also the way the item symbols look, it’s always interesting to loot a chest for me. Not to mention the awesome treasure hunts for the witcher gear sets.
Absolutely tremendous video I’m playing through the game again on steam deck and that is literally what I was thinking the game is almost perfect apart from the levels on the loot and swords as you progress
SAME, this is my 5th playthrough since launch. And since I have a kid now, the ability to take my save to my switch from my ps5 has been amazing. I don't even care that it looks worse, it's still one of the best games ever made!
Hey Jayvee I just wanted to thank you for all your good content and videos your channel is pure gold with all those gaming vids I started watching you a few years ago Keep it up 😄👍
on my 2nd run, witcher 3 complete edition next-gen in 2024... Cant belive it it's still the best game I have ever played, magnificent and brilliant beyond words
This with the Henry Cavil mods is a great play! There’s also a great school of the wolf combat mod that does wonders for the combat with great animations
i fell in love with the witcher 3 when it came out. Played it a few times, then didnt touch it again until last week. It is STILL a Freaking flawless game!
The Witcher 3 is one game that I play religiously every year. I don't always finish the playthrough, but man is it such a special game for me. It remains like my absolute favorite game to not only play when it's kinda off season, but also just when I don't feel like playing anything else. It's amazing. It's absolutely amongst the best games ever made.
The really great pieces of art and entertainment maintain their relevance and sometimes even improve with age, and Witcher 3 is certainly on that level.
i think the point of looting in this game is about to find the materials you need to craft a gear. if you craft a witcher gear (either armor or weapon), in my experiences, the looting system in this game is work perfectly well. it is not a looter rpg anyway.
This game is a masterpiece. One of the greatest games I’ve ever played. The level of detail CDPR put into this world is incredible. Each time I start a new playthrough I discover something new that I’ve never seen before.
I wish Witcher 2 was also compatible with the Steam Deck. It's so dumb, the first and the recent Witcher games are playable no problem. Bug the second one isn't 🤦♀️
Favourite game of all time. It’s not perfect, but the overall package is the most engrossing, most immersive experience I’ve had in gaming. It’s the type of game a company releases just once during their operational lifespan
The way I get around what you said about gear is always go out of your way to find the witcher gear and upgrade them accordingly and switch between them as you go and basically sell everything else to get better witcher gear and materials...best recommendations
I replay this game about every 2 yrs (about 500hrs total) and every time i fall in love with it even more and find new stuff I hadn’t in my previous playthroughs. It never gets old and im always excited to experience the story all over again every time. Same goes for rdr2. My 2 favorite games
Ive played the game 5 times 100% playthrough every time And i havent seen a single youtuber mention just how good the atmoshperic music and tunes u listen to in every different location are.
I've always treated TW3 loot as "Ooooh materials to dismantle and sell/upgrade my witcher gear", but I agree 100% with what you said about gear level, it makes a ton of difference when you upgrade witcher gear to something closer to Geralt's level.
Literally just finished my 2024 Witcher 3 run lmao, still holds up and gets me teary eyed in the ending of Blood and Wine. No game has ever met the same quality as the Witcher 3, not even Cyberpunk 2077. Elden Ring gets close with the exploration and bosses, but the quest design is frankly simple and sometimes confusing, maybe that's the part Miyazaki says he wants to improve on his next games
The ripples that this came put into the gaming industry were insane. Its a game that changed gaming. Those types of games dont come up often but when they do it is wonderful.
Outstanding video, but I would disagree with you on the looting/upgrades aspect. What sets witchers apart is their gear as much as everything else. If they could just kill a few bandits and find a better sword that one they’ve had wouldn’t that detract from what makes them the expert monster hunters and killing machines? There’s actually a scene where Geralt gets summoned by Radovid, and one of the guards compliments his weapons saying, ‘I’ve never seen such well-made steel. Blade must strike true, no?’ Geralt replies, ‘It’s about the wielder, not just the sword’ (or something like that). That’s why the Witcher School weapon and armour schematics are the best in the game, and it’s the right decision.
Currently 110+ hours into my third or fourth complete play through and I have to say it’s my favorite game. The graphics still look gorgeous, the characters are so well written, the soundtrack feels organic, and I just love how you can spend 10-20 hours in Novigrad! So cool. The thing that stands out above other games to me is how so many side quests feel like short stories. I love it! Most time side quests feel like afterthoughts, a means to gain levels. The Witcher 3 really raises the bar on quests. Hope their new Witcher series builds on all they did right with this masterpiece.
I only started playing this a year ago and loved it. Couldn’t believed I’d not picked it up sooner. Got a bit fatigued and took a break to dip into Dragons Dogma 2… then did some AC Valhalla… then Mirage… the DA Inquisition… and tonight I’ve decided to reinstall Witcher 3 and jump back in. It genuinely is a timeless classic that still stands among the very best even 10 years later.

Also, I generally don't care for card games, but gwent is actually gotten me hooked. I play it every time someone asks me to as a nice change of pace.
Where's the fun being an NPC 🤔
Oh I forgot to mention Gwent. I've ALWAYS skipped the mini-games within bigger games like this. But it's hooked me too. You're right, it's such a nice change of pace
G.o.d
Same! Only one I ever got into
I don't think you'd actually want to be an NPC in this game.
Totally agree. One of my favorite games of all time, not even close.
Great video!
currently replaying it, beat the base game and just started hearts of stone. really enjoying it. great video keep it up
Picked that one up because of one of your live streams. I never knew that I'd enjoy fantasy that much. Amazing game!
I'm just playing this for the first time! Started last month and have 130 hours played. Greatest game I've ever played
id give anything to be you
I wish I could experience it for the 1st time again. I have put more time in that game than any game. To me it's the goat of RPG
I miss these kind of reviews
Me too :)
Also Gwent!
The only game I never uninstalled from my pc
I just started another play through today. Forgot the next gen update came through. 1440p absolute maxxed with RT is just nuts to look at. As if it was released yesterday....
@@Joehockey1990 Next week another even better version of the NextGen textures releases
I am replaying it right now on the stream deck :) it's great to play a game like this outside in the garden
Greatr video man! I love the Witcher
Unlike a lot of people , i too never liked the close up camera in the next gen upgrade. You for the most part played on the default camera mode ,i liked it.
@@_bhuc3802 same!!!
Top 3 best games ever made, I also restarted it for like the hundredth time, I play through it like every other month 😭😭😭 I love it so much, it's so fucking good
Whats the other 2 ?
@@tayvongray5387 ghost of tsushima and God of war 4
I had subbed for these kind of videos, I’m glad to see them back 👀
I'm on the same boat here, played the game and now reading the books and man I can't believe I was missing this much context. Also shows you how much CD Projekt put into making the game book accurate.
the unbeatable benchmark, I’m replaying it too
Bro I played the game through 3 times.
I replay this game at the minimum, once a year. It's just so damn good. Graphics with the NG Update look stellar. Mods help a lot too. Love this game.
Best side quests in any game ever
What a masterpiece of game making
what ending did you get? mine left me so empty and hollow this games wrecked me but i love it
One of my favorite memories of this game is exploring a cave during my trip to the quest objective and finding a relic sword and finding out it is a very strong sword (ultinum).
Last week i bought the DLCs for W3) and i cant wait to play them all and finish them😊
I’ve just started reading the books and comics as well! Might as well add this in too, haha
Im also playing my third or fourth play through rn, so impressed by the depth of the story and choices. Love the game to bits
Loved the vid man! Know im replaying it lol!😁
Hey Jayvee I just wanted to thank you for all your good content and videos your channel is pure gold with all those gaming vids
I started watching you a few years ago
Keep it up 😄👍
Thanks brother! Thank you for supporting me with your time and attention over the years :)
@@jayveeeee no problem :)
I welcome everyone back to this masterpiece of a game !
on my 2nd run, witcher 3 complete edition next-gen in 2024... Cant belive it it's still the best game I have ever played, magnificent and brilliant beyond words
Just finished my first play through of this game with both DLC, logged exactly 100H. Masterpiece.
2:52 dude in the back busting a move lol
Here I am talking about how great the game is and dude gets stuck in an animation 😅 I love harmless funny bugs
@@jayveeeee nothing can taint my love for the game, it's great!
Very topical and ironically exactly what I was looking for in a video right now. Keep it up buddy.
I do a replay every now and then , I still find new side quests I hadnt seen before. Dont care about GTA just gives us Witcher 4
Finished it 4 times and I'm damn sure I'll end up playing through all 3 games again once more before Witcher 4 comes out
i think the point of looting in this game is about to find the materials you need to craft a gear. if you craft a witcher gear (either armor or weapon), in my experiences, the looting system in this game is work perfectly well. it is not a looter rpg anyway.
Definitely grind getting the bear outfit and swords! Totally worth it. Definitely like this type of commentary and prefer it
This game is a masterpiece. One of the greatest games I’ve ever played. The level of detail CDPR put into this world is incredible. Each time I start a new playthrough I discover something new that I’ve never seen before.
The Steam Deck made me go through another playthru of The Witcher 3. It runs pretty well.
same here, just downloaded it to see if it works well and play few minutes.. finally I have added another 60 hours to my overall gameplay :D
The way I get around what you said about gear is always go out of your way to find the witcher gear and upgrade them accordingly and switch between them as you go and basically sell everything else to get better witcher gear and materials...best recommendations
this game has been in my steam library for a year but have never played it. installing now. I'm excited to finally give it a try!
I replay this game about every 2 yrs (about 500hrs total) and every time i fall in love with it even more and find new stuff I hadn’t in my previous playthroughs. It never gets old and im always excited to experience the story all over again every time. Same goes for rdr2. My 2 favorite games
Ive played the game 5 times 100% playthrough every time
And i havent seen a single youtuber mention just how good the atmoshperic music and tunes u listen to in every different location are.
I've always treated TW3 loot as "Ooooh materials to dismantle and sell/upgrade my witcher gear", but I agree 100% with what you said about gear level, it makes a ton of difference when you upgrade witcher gear to something closer to Geralt's level.
Wish i could forget this game just so I could play it over again constantly lol nothing compares to it , just waiting on 4 and the remake
theres always that non triss-yenn-dendallion playthrough 😂
I love this style of video, keep up the great work!
That’s crazy I’ve been on my Witcher binge for 2 weeks and I see this 😂😂😂
Literally just finished my 2024 Witcher 3 run lmao, still holds up and gets me teary eyed in the ending of Blood and Wine.
I love this game. I played all 3 and 3 has so many groundbreaking things most games today still don't have
Outstanding video, but I would disagree with you on the looting/upgrades aspect.
Blade must strike true, no?’
Geralt replies, ‘It’s about the wielder, not just the sword’ (or something like that).
Great video im having blast again with this game!! some 15 hours in and last time I played it I think it was like 6 years ago!
