      @RealBradMiller is it the combat? I'm not gonna lie, my entire first playthrough when it first came out, I was so bad at combat. But once I came to grips with it and understood how everything works, it made it one of the best games ever.

      Straight up it’s still my favourite/number 1 game yes there are other games that excel Witcher 3 in certain aspects but as an overall complete package the only game that can compete is Baldur’s gate 3 but as I prefer the more 3rd person more action based gameplay than the top down turn based system used. However both are unparalleled in size (with actual content), story, music, graphics, role playing elements, voice acted. Elden Ring would be up there if the story was more up front rather than hidden in obscure and vague dialogue and item descriptions but that’s part of the dark souls/elden ring magic but as an overall package for most consumers Witcher 3 ticks majority of boxes hence why it won goty, blood and wine was genuinely considered for goty the following year and then won game of the decade and honestly no game has come close to Witcher 3 (apart from BG3 but again got to like that very particular style of top down, slow, strategical turn based table top gameplay) so Witcher 3 even almost a decade later for me atleast is still peak gaming, story, music and entertainment that’s very engaging and immersive.

    This game has built an entire home in my head. Hell, a mansion; rent free because it owns that space permanently.
    I’m the same as you when it comes to cutscenes. If they aren’t done well, then I can’t be bothered with them. I listened to every line of dialogue in Witcher 3 and loved it. I also agree with open world loot. It’s not good, but the school gear and some other unique gear really makes up for it.

    As someone who’s spent over 400 hours on this game, I played it for the first time in 2022 with the update, I can now say the only thing I don’t like, is the fact that you don’t get the cape and a hood, and also the combat isn’t the best with the constant spins but that’s how Geralt fights I guess, but yeah, not much criticism for the game it’s amazing, everytime I try and go back to it now tho I give up, just doesn’t feel the same anymore but 400 hours is a hell of a long time, can’t believe I played it for that long.

    • @docproc144
      @docproc144 26 дней назад +3

      I don’t think you can get a cape, but if you upgrade the Cat School Witcher gear to Grandmaster quality in the Blood and Wine DLC it adds a hood to the chest piece. As far as I know it’s the only hood type gear in the game, but it does look pretty badass, especially if you use dyes on the armor. Also I’m pretty sure the constant spinning and rolling style is just how Witchers are taught to fight, at least in the game cause in cutscenes that’s how Geralt, Lambert, Eskel, and Letho fight.

    • @canadian0099

      @@docproc144 Geralt is more commonly described as pirouetting in the books, I’d say the original, unmodded gameplay leans too heavily into the rolling around, which does look a bit stupid when constantly spammed.

      @Andre-pr4pq 23 дня назад +1

      @@lewissharpe4695to be fair you could simply use heavy attacks if you’re not a fan of the spinning animation, they are not as slow as a lot of people might think and you can just simply make a heavy attack build which is reeealy fun. It also makes the game a little more tactical because of the slightly higher build up time before you strike, plus the harder hits can be more satisfying.

    Regarding the loot issue, it doesn’t only come down to a weapons damage number. There are a lot of interesting relic swords you can find during quests or in the open world which have certain percentage buffs which can be very useful, even if the damage number itself is lower than swords for your current level. My storage chest is full of cool swords, from which only a view are actual good end game weapons of course, but still. For me the loot system is very fun. Also the way the item symbols look, it’s always interesting to loot a chest for me. Not to mention the awesome treasure hunts for the witcher gear sets.

    I totally agree with the point about the loot and lvls, which is why i always play this game with the no lvls mod.
    Now it may sound weird at first to have no lvls in an rpg, but imo it makes the game a lot more enjoyable and immersive cause geralt does not get 1 shot by a drowner just because it has a higher number then him.
    the whole game and its progression becomes based on the skill tree and the quality of the gear rather then some artificial numbering.

    Favourite game of all time. It’s not perfect, but the overall package is the most engrossing, most immersive experience I’ve had in gaming. It’s the type of game a company releases just once during their operational lifespan

    I've always treated TW3 loot as "Ooooh materials to dismantle and sell/upgrade my witcher gear", but I agree 100% with what you said about gear level, it makes a ton of difference when you upgrade witcher gear to something closer to Geralt's level.

    Literally just finished my 2024 Witcher 3 run lmao, still holds up and gets me teary eyed in the ending of Blood and Wine. No game has ever met the same quality as the Witcher 3, not even Cyberpunk 2077. Elden Ring gets close with the exploration and bosses, but the quest design is frankly simple and sometimes confusing, maybe that's the part Miyazaki says he wants to improve on his next games

    I was 17 when this game came out and not knowing anything about the Witcher 1-2 or the books this game still made it so immersive, I put in around 145hrs the first time, then when the complete edition came out I put in 200+hrs because of the dlc (which both were amazing) and since the next gen upgrade came out 2 years ago, just this week I started playing again and let me tell you, this game hasn’t aged a day. I’m gonna do it all over again, until space marine comes out then I’m gonna be hooked on that but until then I’ll be playing this masterpiece.

    I have 1000+ hours in this game and still love it, though W1 is a masterpiece just like W2. I read all the books and I don’t watched thr Netflix show after the first season. Once you learned the lore, you will hate what Netflix did with this amazing world and writing.
