So, the athlete goes down the ramp trying to get the greatest possible speed and then launches off the end of the ramp. They then get into a flight position to try and jump the farthest. Its not only distance but there are 5 judges who have a maximum of 20 points to deduct from the jumpers score based on style. The highest and lowest scores are dropped and score is based off of that for the podium. Hope this helped.
