- Mikaela Reids’s story is one steeped in mystery, full of night terrors, a supernatural encounter with the Entity, and the disappearance of a friend. She is no ordinary Survivor and so it is no surprise that she has a very extraordinary tale... this is the Tragedy of Mikaela Reid.

On November 22, 2022, Behaviour released DBD's 26th Chapter DLC - Forged in Fog - which brings a new Killer named the Knight and a new Survivor, Vittorio Toscano.
Please note, the way we chose to present Mikaela's story in this video is closely based on and/or paraphrases her DBD character lore and her tome lore (including the currently available memories from the new Tome 13 - Malevolence), though some things said are inferences from what is written about her. We've also tried to be clear when we cite her lore word-for-word by displaying the text on screen. The reason we chose to paraphrase rather than simply read her story is that we feel that this would be more interesting, especially for those that have already read through it and don't need it read to them. Some of our original thoughts are our best hypotheses and open for interpretation.

I really hope Julian gets added as a survivor since he was yoinked by the Entity in that room unaware to Mikaela. After all, none that witness the entity escape being abducted (like Kate who met it once in her tome story)
I agree! I really hope Julian gets added as well. It would be a really cool way to advance the lore. They really are a select few (like Kate) who witnessed the Entity before being taken into the Fog
@@theARobertsI personally think Julian should instead get an item with a reference to him added, like the other lost survivors you can find on certain items. It would make it sadder if by the time she got pulled into the realm, Julian was discarded by the Entity.
Imagine if they somehow made him into a killer, could be interesting to see@@theARoberts

I really hope the devs come up with something about Julian. The fact that he just disappeared I believe he went to the entity's realm but still no sign of him. I'd really like to see something more about her and Julian in the future. Mikaela is one of my favorite survivors because of her lore and this video is fantastic!
I'm woefully behind on comments and trying to catch up. I agree, I would love Julian to come to the game as a Survivor down the road, I think that would be a really cool way to start tying together lore. I really grew to respect Mikaela through making this video and I am so glad to know you enjoyed it!
Mikaela is such a cool character but it really feels like the witch aspect was shoved into a character that wasnt supposed to be one, i would have loved her more as an everyday kind of character who got sucked in. Honestly haddie should have been the one to get the mikaela treatment she came after a couple of chapters that expanded the lore with the black veil and had seemingly supernatural abilities and was an anniversary chapter? She would have been the perfect vessel for a new mechanic i mean heck even the character that came after like in victorio got a unique perk with a unique animation (potential energy) while haddie was left to bite the dust
I will be honest, that's the least compelling part of her character for me, I agree. I don't think they would have lost much by removing the witch aspect from her character, other than the thematic tie-in with Halloween around the time she was released and the explanation of the boons. Her lore could have stayed relatively the same, Haddie would have been a good vessel for the boon perks too (though Haddie did come much later so they would have had to wait a while). I am sad that Haddie got left in the dust for a while because she has some of the best lore in the game, a lot of it written before she was added to the game.
This video was INCREDIBLE!! I would love to see you cover more survivors in the future, hell I'd be grateful to help write the scripts for some of these!

Pretty poetic that horror stories was her passion and now those same horror stories are back to haunt her.
Indeed. There's a theory I've seen that DBD may actually be just her horror stories, but my belief is that whatever "inspired" her stories was actually giving her a window into the Entity's realm (without her realizing it) seeing how she dreamt of other Survivors before being taken into the Fog.
This was a great video! Lore is such an interesting thing to me and especially during this time of year I love lore that is haunting! Thank you for producing such great content! I can't wait to see/hear the next entry into this series on lore!!!! :)

After this year's Halloween event, I'm starting to think that Julian was sent to the void
That's an interesting possibility. I'm still holding out hope we'll see him in a future DLC
Also, with the description of the Entity, I'm automatically taken to Stephen King's work. The way they (Behavior) depicts The Entity as a "spidery figure," it reminds me of Mordrid from The Dark Tower and Pennywise transforming at the end of IT being of a similarly sinister spidery figure.
I wonder if those were inspirations for BHVR when they began crafting the Entity?

Great question. I'd like to think he's just been taken into the realm too and I'm hoping that they will bring Julian into the game as a new Survivor down the road and connect the lore to Mikaela. I think that would be really cool.

@@DungeonTracks How are they broken? Boons can easily be heard and snuffed out. Killers have insta-downs, end-game perks, etc. So why is healing in a certain radius too overpowered?
