Sociopath, selfish, and domineering. however he is a man of ethics and a man of his word.
Plus Simon Freaking Timpleman voiced him in the fantastic four cartoon in the nineties. Literally the best part of the cartoon.

This story is a great example of what makes Dr. Doom great.
He isn't a typical evil super villain.
His motives are selfish for sure, but not always evil.
He favors peace and order, and takes care of other beings.

Exactly, that is what drawn people to Doom in the first place. While other people would say that Benevolence Dictator is still a dictator. I say a good leader is what define everything regardless whenever the government is a dictatorship or democracy.

Well written villains like Doom are great because if the story is written from his perspective, the fantastic 4 are a bunch of criminal terrorists that constantly invade the sovereignty of a nation and destroy parts of that nation while trying to overthrow a government (a thriving one at that ). All because of Richard's vendetta against the noble Dr. DOOM.

This is why he's my favorite Marvel Villain,because deep down,he's a good guy,it's just that the rest of the heroes don't agree to his methods and ways. He has the best intentions and the heroes are the ones stopping him,so in his mind they are the villains stopping him.

The reason why Doom is a good villain is the reason why Joker is a good villain. They both represent REAL valid rational philosophical viewpoints on the world. The philosophies they represent are so far removed they aren't directly comparable. Doom represents the ideal of the iron fist in a velvet glove, the "benevolent dictatorship" being the most effective form of rule. Whereas joker represent what humans really are when order crumbles and societal systems fail to provide for essentials of living, he is entropy, chaos, and discord. One is the law bringer and the other is the absence of that law.
Dragon Ballzzz Deep Doom is also op-ed while joker is a regular human who has taken down superman etc

He could have fixed his face ages ago. Could have even made himself a perfect Adonis body. However the cloak and mask are all hallmarks of Doom.
I was wondering that. Maybe a possible explanation is that he wants to concentrate all his power to what he wants to do. Anything else that would help him (armor and rocket boots) are just to conserve his power.

One thing about Doom.....Once he sees he's made a mess, he'll usually try to clean it up. If he could put that ego on the shelf for a bit....He would probably be the greatest hero.
TheJohno95 There's a publication of that nature running now called "Infamous Iron Man" in which Doom takes up Tony's mantle and attempts heroics. It's 2 issues in as of now.

Out of all the What-If comics this was by far my favorite. It does a good job of conveying Doctor Doom's experience wielding omnipotence. I took the ending somewhat differently. Doctor Doom's will was reality, he had achieved ultimate power and nothing could stand against him. You can tell by the dialogue that he missed the struggle and challenge of life. That said, I liken the ending to starting a new game+. He had completed everything and the universe posed no challenge, so he started over as a mortal. As soon as his new life begins the game is on, his new rise to power begins.
however, does he still have his memory of all that had previously unfolded? He did mention his name "Doom" but is that proof that he remembers all of what happened?
Just think about what that means. Doom traveled back to the beginning of time, exhausting the Beyonder energies he had left. That means he lived on to our day thousands of years later with just the powers he always possesses. He's OP without the powers of gods.
Which he has already done in 616, during the return of the marquis of death when Clyde Wyncham sent him back in time and doom became his 2nd apprentice

Ive always loved this one-shot. My favorite out of all of the "What If?" stories. Its so incredible, Doom decimates everything, and in the end doesnt end up with anything...but then sacrifices the one thing he always wanted, ultimate power, to literally save Earth and what little population had survived his universal destructive tyranny.

Amazing Story, thanks Rob for sharig. Bur there are two mistakes here that i think need to be said:
1) After secret wars and trying to frighten the earth heroes with displays of his might, he didn't kill anyone, not just stark and strange.
2) he doesn't travel to the past to restart the earth, he fix the earth present. This is son great because it shows that DOOM
believes that his power is not in his abilities or what he could put his hands on (beyonder's power or the infinity gauntlet), but in his will.
i love how epic doom sounds in my head when i read his words in comic panels...

Doom is probably the greatest character in Marvel. I used to think He was a generic fantastic 4 villian in the past. God I was wrong, I like his arrogant egotistical personality, and how his plans are to ultimately bring about peace and prosperity for humanity. He doesn't get the credit he deserves on the big screen.

Makes you wonder how Magneto would have fared with either The Beyonder's power or the Infinity Gauntlet? I mean House of M clearly showed he would be a competent world ruler and that was without additional power.

Doom is one of the best characters Marvel has, and it's cool to see him get his desired result in a story.
Very curious though, but has anybody read a comic where Dr.Doom actually speaks fondly of Beast from the X-men, showing the highest form of respect to him? A friend of mine mentioned that this was a thing that occured and I always wanted to see it but there's so many comics in the world man lol

Doom is my favorite villian. I have to admit I always deterred this story cause I thought it was a no brainer but your expo was really good. I love him even more now. I should have looked into this. This has inspired me to look into more of his stories and not just note his accomplishments but actually look into the stories just for my own delight in his character. He really is an amazing villian. In my eyes best ever in any comic.
P.s I didn't like you as a narrator but this one made me develop a fondness for the way you analize. You may not have Comicstorian great presence and voice but your gift is a very well rounded exegesis and I appreciate it. Thks bro. Keep it up. 😘😘

Hasn't it been prophesiezed that the only way earth will know peace or not be destroyed is under Doom's reig? Kinda like how every reality will be ruled by Apocalypse at some point.
If I recall correctly it was something like the universe needs him to lead if it is to survive, and I guess it kinda came true during secret wars.

What is the "Hulk went Berserk was an awesome STORY" and so was the Cover. Also "What if Iron Man were a Traitor, was an awesome cover as well. And "What if the X Men dies on their first Mission" was really good and so was "What if Set had killed all the Avengers, one of the last Battles in the Comic between Thor and Set was Legendary. I still remember the Images of Thor being Burned alive, Fighting till the very end.

What happens if you have the infinity gauntlet but your arm gets cut off? Does your arm become the strongest being in the universe?
if you got the infinity gauntlet, your arm can't get cut off in the first place 😁
but, based on what I've understood with rob's videos, if your arm is cut then you lose the power because the gauntlet isn't linked to your mind anymore
it would make more sense to make an infinity crown, or helmet really.

I would love if you made a new series or top 5 or 10 videos on times when heroes or villains crossed the line or almost crossed it. or alternatively have completely lost it, snapped or went crazy. that time when spiderman or Superman either almost or did kill someone etc...
Totally awesome story. Could you do a rundown of the whole weird Spider-Man secret war thing? I recently got into spider-Gwen but it jumped over into a bigger mess of other spiders and then she lost her powers? And then a bunch of spider men from different reality got stuck in a different world..... idk, lol it was all kind of confusing and i couldn't find all of the comics to read. Idk if you have done anything on that story yet, but it would be considered cool if you could explain all that.
