    Have you considered doing a Ravelry style KAL Sew Along to engage all levels of your fans? Not just your excellent instructional series, but ones where we submit photos/videos of our finished garments? I have been looking for something like the Scroop Patterns Robin for myself, and my entry would be a linen-y rayon woven solid from my stash. I think the celebration video it could generate a lot of hits-- one T&T pattern (inset pattern name here) 25 variations, 25 bodies.just an idea.

      This is a really interesting suggestion and has me thinking about how I could do that! Stay tuned!

    Your Scroop came out lovely! I took in the waist on mine (it is a loose fitting design) and the multiple seams made it very easy to take a very small amount from each to get a slimmer fit without ruining the lines. Also - I don't remember who - but I know I saw someone who had added ties to the back princess seams, so she could tie it to get a close fit when she wanted.

      Adding ties would be lovely and a great fit fix! I can see myself taking in the seams just a bit at the waist at some point as well.

    The Scroop Patterns dress is so lovely! The style is beautiful on you. I made the Wanderlust dress based on your review and really like the style. A woven version sounds perfect for summer! Thank you for sharing.

    Oh, I loveall pieces but especially the Robin dress; I had exactly the same dress in 90s, made from Burda pattern and I loved it! Thanks for pointing out Robin has cup sizes, need that. Now off to pattern (and fabric) shopping…

    Love all your makes but especially that last dress. No sewing just worked yesterday on getting the bootstrap pants form pattern cut out to take to Florida with me. 19 pieces doubled and a few required 4 pieces. So lots of cutting. A few pieces I interfaced to make more stable & prevent fraying. Plan on working on the pants form and bowl cozies for a friend while I’m down in Florida.

    I have made 2 Shelby dresses from True Bias. I had to fiddle a lot with the neckline, because my high bust to full bust difference is 6" and it is pretty low cut. Even though I am on a pattern fast, that Robin Dress is definitely calling my name. Like you, I love patterns that already calculate bust sizes. I had earmarked some of my stashed fabric for another Shelby dress, but I think I'll try the Robin dress. An added bonus is the pockets plus no ties in the back. I always forget about those ties when I use the bathroom and they end up wet. Just a word to the wise!

    Such great pieces once again! I'll have to check out the Scroop patterns too! I don't need the larger bust but I like the versatility of the pattern. Is the frawn fabric a more stable fabric than your Swim pants? That might explain why they feel snugger than the pants. They look great!

    Oooh! I also love patterns with cup sizing. I am well acquainted with FBAs, but cup sizing just saves me a whole lot of time. I have a question if you have a minute (no pressure - I know you’re busy) about the fit of princess seams versus darts for a full bust. Fitting the bust line has a lot of elements which include lowering or raising the apex point on the pattern. I always hear that princess seams provide for better fitting, but I have found that darted bodices are both easier to adjust in that regard, and more forgiving if I don’t get it absolutely perfect. The darted bodices just seem to fit more smoothly, whereas if I don’t get a princess seam exactly right, it’s much more obvious that the bodice doesn’t contour over my bust as it should. So, I guess my question is, what’s up with that? 😂 Have you ever had this happen for you? Do I need to up my princess seam game? ❤

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  6 месяцев назад +1

      I completely get what you mean! If you don't have the apex of a princess seam hitting you at your apex, it can definitely leave odd excess fabric in places! I've also heard people go on and on about princess seams being easier to fit, however, if you find darts easier to fit, then I say thats the way you should go! Princess seams do give you a couple of extra seams for taking in or letting out, but if you're struggling to fit them, then I'd just stick with the darts! I do have a video tutorial on how to raise and lower the apex of a princess seam, if you're interested: ruclips.net/video/1D6HGGEesr0/видео.htmlsi=PrCtNWXeZiPNlQqF

      @@TomKatStitchery Thank you! I will check out your video. Although I am sure I’ve already watched it, a refresher never hurts.
      Also, thank you for the validation regarding the look of a princess seam when I don’t get the fit just right, as well as the reminder of why the princess seam is lauded as offering more fitting options. I guess I sometimes forget that fitting isn’t always *just* about my big boobs!😂
      Great job, Whitney, as always. 🩷🩷🩷

    Can yuo tell us which size pack you bought of the Robin Dress? I know you said you were between a 38 and 40, so how did you decide whether to buy the smallest or the middle of the three size packages? I'm on the edge of two packs too and just cannot decide which to put in my cart. :/
