The MOST ICONIC car ever? - A day with the 1965 VW Beetle

- To some it may sound strange but driving ANY Volkswagen Beetle has been on my bucket list for the longest time, let alone one that comes form 1965. Why? In short, the Beetle has been one the most significant and successful cars in human history. The Beetle is a pop culture icon and was also the very first car many people go to drive, ever. The world would be and emptier place without it.
Thanks to James and Branden for helping me film throughout the day and keeping me company. 😉

Nice '67. I have a restored '64 sunroof. I also had a '64, first car, in '75. They get into your soul! ( pan could be '65 on this one and titled as such )
Had two 1965 VN bugs. Both were great.
man these guys get the coolest nuggets!!! will always love these my first car was a 1967 British green 1600 did my first donut on some gravel with it lol so so cool.
Ah that's so cool. Like we said, the Beetle has made its way into everyone's life some how 🔥🔥
Awesome video Gents! Did the 1965 beetle have rear pop out windows or is this an addition?
Very nice car, but it looks suspiciously like a 67, the rear apron is squared off like a 67, the door latch is the later style that started in 67, the wiper knob looks like a 67, it has door lock pulls. Im coming from a US spec perspective so correct me if Im wrong.
Also, in 1965 the piping on the seats did not go across the top. The piping went up and back down on the side of the seat.
I could be wrong but I remember the owner saying he replaced a lot of parts when the car was restored and had a hard time getting the right parts for the job. Thanks for the comment though. You guys have eagle eyes and spot all the details haha
That is not a '65. The license plate light cover isn't wide (it's small - therefore a '63 or earlier), as well as the signal lights which are smaller (again, '63 or earlier). Even the door lock pegs didn't come out until '67 or later. (I used to own a pure 1965 VW Beetle). Of course, the engine has been modified- the intake manifold, and the crankshaft disc (with calibrations to boot) is definitely NOT a '65.
Cool car but the owner didnt put in the wrench time, different kind of bond with a car when you bring it back to life yourself
Still waiting for the video with my Bantam bakkie
Unfortunately I'm busy that weekend 😓
