Haise is Kaneki's new identity. At the end of season 2, Kaneki fought with Arima, where he was mortally wounded. As a result, he was taken to the ghoul detention center, from where Ken wanted to escape. When suddenly Arima came to him and said that he killed all his friends, during which he plunged into depression and his brain, in order to protect his psyche, erases all memories, and then, together with Kisho Arima, he comes up with a new name for himself - Haise
sadly, i dont think the anime really expains it much, at least i dont think so, its been a while since i watched it, but since the anime botched season 2 of the manga, then tried to bring it back in season 3, which i dont think they really succeded, everyones hoping for a remake of the anime july 3rd though, whatever the announcement is going to be
While locked up in Cochlea it was mentioned that Kaneki would cry all night saying he has to protect everyone and would gouge his own eyes out until they festered and he lost all his memories. Afterwards it was decided he would be put into rehabilitation so Arima approached him with books which calmed him down and he chose his name from his favorite 2 Kanji.
Idk if it counts as spoiler but I'll explain what happened to Kaneki between s2 and 3 below (they anime skipped this, idk why) He lost the fight against Arima (the guy with white hair and glasses) and lost his memories so the CCG made him work for them (Idk if I explained it correctly but yeah something like this happened)
@@hex7003 I mean they showed that Kaneki and Arima were about to fight in s2's last ep so wasn't that kinda obvious that Kaneki now being Haise was Arima's doing
I hope u read this so last season was mostly anime original and now they are adapting the manga so u are going to be a little confused i can explain what happened briefly without spoiling too much but SPOILER DOWN BELOW kaneki lost that fight with arima and he got his memories erased by messing with his brain and "killing" him too many times he has this new personality sasaki haise
Ok so, a better way of understanding the Quinx is to think of them as human turned into Quinque. They are far closer to humans, being able of eating human food and everything, while also having Kagune, but are considerably weaker than actual hybrids.
They won't give you context of what happened because the anime changed many things from the manga, like almost all of season 2, the only way to know is by reading the manga since they had to have given that context at the end of season 2.
Just like some advice/tip/something I noticed but I'd highly recommend getting rid of that red line at the bottom of your thumbnails. It makes me think i've already watched the video everytime (as if the red bar has already shown up cuz its been watched) and it just makes me not click it without paying much attention. Idk maybe im the only one but thought i'd share my thoughts :p
Mutski is a girl, but youd have to read the manga to understand her backstory, also Arima defeated kaneki, though not without having some slight trouble against him. Haise is kaneki but pretty much has amnesia, with repressed memories. Again if you do at some point read the manga cause there is much more in the manga than the anime
Haise is an alter-ego of Kaneki. In the manga, Kaneki lost his fight against Arima (at season 2's finale), and he was mortally wounded. The CCG then decided to brainwash Kaneki, and then after sufficient torture, and brainwashing, Kaneki's mental psych was messed up, and his new personality emerged in the form of Haise Sasaki.
from this season onwards it is the reason why Tokyo Ghoul is considered Mid. From here on they will cut many important parts of the story and it will take a slightly different path from the manga. this is why people recommend going and reading the manga after season 2 (which I also recommend) and not even watching the anime, as it would ruin the experience
Honestly you should just skip season 2 as it is not canon at all since to begin with, Kaneki never joined Aogiri in the manga (which changes a lot of stuff and the meaning of the end arc)

Well it is kinda predictable

Haise is like a split personality or alter ego which is common in pyschological patients
