there are videos of that as well as aretha and patti note for note. aretha has a more refined/prestine voice compared to chaka and patti. chaka's is the more dynamic voice, hell she can belt out a B5 in a song and make it sound like a trumpet. patti, like her performances, is the more raw to the bone. all three are world class singers. aint no one can touch them
The funny thing to me (and yes I'm a singer too) is that all of you who see a need to compare Aretha & Chaka in a negative way probably cannot carry a tune in a bag. One legend honoring another legend and doing it well I might add. Was there something that you missed? Understand what the moment was about! Both artist are awesome in their own right, they don't put each other down so why should any of you do it! And for the record, God has blessed me to be able to carry a tune in a bag!
Chaka was a little shaky at first but then she turned into lady of fire on stage. She put her foot into it at the end! Aretha loved it too. Look at the big smile.

This is the second performance I hear from this night and I have one darn question: WHY THE EFF DID THEY HAVE TO AUTO-TUNE THESE TALENTED SINGERS?! Every one of them is more than capable of pulling these songs of perfectly. It just ruins the sound and make them sound robotic!
Although Aretha Franklin is indeed The Queen Of Soul and soooo owns this song, Miss Chaka Kahn did a suoer job of covering, this most classic and signature song of The Queen! Props!

And I dont know what planet your on but I think you'll find that both chakaand Patti are way up there with Aretha. Im my opinion, Patti has a much more powerful and emotional voice than Aretha. I love Aretha dont get me wrong, but no one could touch Patti in her prime. During the mid 80's Patti was the best vocalist on the planet.
What we've witnessed is the ultimate in R-E-S-P-E-C-T! Chaka could've ate house on this # & took it from Aretha the way Aretha took it from Otis.Chaka grew up & worshipped @ the altar of Aretha so I'm sure she sang Aretha's signature song 10 million times & Chaka being Chaka tried just as many different interpetations of it.Some things you just don't do- just because you can!Chaka has the class & humility to recognize this.take notes P.. Naw i won't even go there! LOL!!!
