Elijah talking about why Sam is the greatest sidekick gives me so much life u have no idea.
autumn leaves timestamp?
Jugglez 92 53:06
I love that guy in the audience that shouted "Elijah, why?!" during his horror clip.
Was that the same guy who shouted "The Shadow!" after the first question was announced?
Jarod Barrett that scene made me extremely disturbed.
Like WTF was that?
Gary V 34:44
Begotten is a real treat.
Murrell: Sequels suck.
Wood: Remakes suck.
Smith: Nazis suck.
I got to work with Elijah on a two different things... honestly, he's literally the nicest guy I've ever met. Almost to the point where you want him to act a little more like a 'star', like, demand something, or be diva'ish just a little, say "no" to something - be grumpy for a second. No, he's just a regular, insanely nice guy. We were standing around talking in a circle before the shoot got rolling and you almost forget he's there because he's not like most stars, being the center of attention. He's just laughing, talking along. I honestly can't say enough good things about the guy, truly was an honor.
That sounds great.
What was the shoot?
In the age of Facebook and Twitter where it seems like everyone is an A-hole...I love to hear stories and testimonials like this about folks who are just good folks.
I’m older than him, of course. But I’ve enjoyed watching him since The War, the Kevin Costner. He’s always seemed like an old soul. Everyone on LOTR seemed to say the same, even though he was the youngest. Much respect to him for staying kind.
I think that’s his Midwest roots.
Ronin Editor awww that’s awesome !!!! What did you work on ?? I’m so intrigued
Elijah wood sounds like he could teach a college course on cinema. Such an eloquent linguist and passionate fighter
WIlliam Mihalcik indeed Elijah is awesome....conversely Dan McTwitchy makes me want to scratch my eyeballs out and stab my eardrums with chopsticks.
Apparently he has a production company, so it checks out.
Elijah's laugh gives me life.
kevins answers make my day
His laugh and eyes 😍😍😍😍and intelligence of course but I have a crush on all 3 fighters
Alexandria Miller I said the same thing lol especially when it's genuine
"It's about Christmas"
48:13 best part
Elija: I chose Tim Burton's...
Kevin: ??What??
Elija: ...Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Kevin: Oh, right.
45:21 Kevin realizing that there's no way he's losing with the movie he picked😂😂😂
and when he laughs at how heinous Willy Wonka is! haha
Kevin is savage, Dan is salty, and Elijah is living for all of it (as am I)! Omg this episode was HILARIOUS! Hahahaha. Fantastic episode. Even the interaction with the audience had me in stitches.
This may sound weird but i could listen to Elijah Wood talk about cooking, politics, even freaking solving equations for hours. Dudes got a good voice
He narrated the Huckleberry Finn audiobook. :)
Jerry Leal agreed.. We need to get Elijah to start a podcast
i like how elijah was basically all "you better be talking about the hobbit trilogy and not lotr" at around 6:35
Can...can we just have another hour of Elijah Wood roasting the hobbit movies?
YAAAS please!
Ash ... when I go onto the Tolkien fan channels they always hate on me for dissing the Hobbit movies but I think they're just horrible.
@@JeffRebornNow Well, its so much worse now...
@@JeffRebornNowProblem with The Hobbit was studio interference to Peter Jackson vision. They supposed to make just 2 movies. I recently watched M4 book based 4 hours fan edit of The Hobbit and it was awesome. It's a proof that they added to much useless stuff to make the trilogy. It was a huge mistake.
Elijah Wood giggling during the final fight was AMAZING. Also Dan was kind of salty hahahaa
Kevin Smith's arguments are all, "Well, here's the part of the question where I really got stuck." 😂 everytime lol
Elijah is by far the best guest Screen Junkies has ever had. He is calm, cool, collected and he knows his stuff.
The cackling from Elijah Wood during the 'this movie should be erased' response was beautiful.
@@trod146 He also tries to intellectualize too much.
Sounds like Kevin Smith
My favourite part of the whole thing is the guy in the audience who yells "Elijah why?" when they play the clip of the guy stabbing himself.
Isabel Rentoul I think I have to agree with the audience member on that one.
34:48 :D !
"Well there you go" fucking killed me. I'm dead now. Fucking hilarious.
I dig that Smith and Wood are regulars on the show.
Smith is. I didn’t think Elijah was.
I f--kin love Smith, I gotto, I'm 40-something and lost. But, Wood is future master of cinema in the making, he takes EVERYTHING in and can't help but love the replies made by the others.
Elijah's horror clip was so deeply unsettling that I totally get it. The idea of someone just sitting in a chair all wrapped up in gauze and just stabbing them self to only the sound of crickets is just so detached from reality that it just fucks with the viewer on a subconscious level of "something is deeply wrong here but I can't place it"
But being disturbing or unsettling doesn't give you the win in a "this is scariest scene" fight.
Disturbing? Yes. Scary? Not realy
Gasper Noe: hold my beer…
Although Elija is too nice for these kinda "Movie Fights".... You gotta give the man props regarding his eloquence and knowledge he has for the horror genre (or movies in general)!
Just the fact that he brings up an obscure movie such as " Begotten" which 90% of the audience probably hadn't scene is awesome and refreshing (rather then everyone else who chose well known movies)!! Kudos to the guy:)
Ps: And I do agree, that scene IS really disturbing
i think 90% is being generous. if ANYONE in the audience had heard of it i'd be surprised
This was BY FAR one of the goofiest most entertaining movie fights of all time. So great.
I would love a Movie Fights, in which each fighter is allowed to fight with one movie. The same format but for each question the fighter has to use the same movie, and it would be challenging because the competitor needs to pick a well rounded movie for each round.
Joshua Padua This needs to happen
What a great idea!
Wow that's actually a great idea, make it happen
Joshua Padua great idea! I hope they try this!
it would get kind of repetitive though, movie fights are over one hour.
I love how Elijah just laughs at the other guy when he tries to defend the hitler movie 😂
I'm way behind on my RUclips subscriptions, so nobody's probably even gonna see this comment... but I still wanted to express how much I enjoyed and appreciated this particular episode of Movie Fights. I enjoyed it not only because of the awesome atmosphere with a great, live crowd reacting enthusiastically throughout the show, but because Kevin Smith and Elijah Wood are perhaps my two favorite special guest fighters that have previously competed on the show. I don't know either of them personally, but they both seem like such genuinely nice, chill, and positive people. They are both clearly extremely knowledgeable of cinema and Kevin is especially very clever with his arguments and rebuttals. Again, they both exude very positive, down-to-earth, and chill vibes, which made this episode extremely entertaining.
ragingfiip this truly is the golden age of movie fights. Now we have Hal running the show and it’s just a 1v1... not very good
Hey, I saw this comment 2 years later. Anything can happen on the internet, my friend.
Also, I absolutely agree with everything you said.
Man, those Kevin Smith's roasts! :)
I love how much of a genuine fan Elijah is even though he is also a movie star.
Patrick C I met and asked Elijah if anybody ever told him that he looks just like that guy that was in that Hobbit movie....he just smiled and said "Yea..all the time".....nice dude...
Most movie stars are obsessed with movies. They are the biggest fans.
Kevin Smith choosing "Triumph of the Will" for the movie he would erase from existance was a stroke of genius.
Why? I don't get it.
Never mind, just made it to that part. Lol
It was a regrettable choice though... The other two choices were great picks for an actual debate, Kevin's choice straight up shut down that battle. I will always wonder about the fight that didn't happen...
Don't get me wrong, it was a good choice, it just wasn't a fair fight because nazis.
well, it is an ok choice, but you can still argue against it, they are just too afraid to say something and to be taken out of context
In most people's eyes it was blinked out of existence because nobody had ever heard of it.
58:53 Elijah literally snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. 🤣
Elijah realizing how badly he fucked up by picking Bond at 59:45 is one of my favorite Movie Fights moments ever. Just so perfect.
I really like the previous 30-40 seconds. Kevin thinks about his argument for a second then keeps smiling as Elijah speaks knowing no matter what Elijah says he is going to win :)
Dávid Pásztóy, Hell yeah. If Elijah had stuck with The Dark Crystal he would've had the game on lock.
I seriously just replayed that over 10 times in hysterics. The look on Elijah's face. 😂😂😂
dude would have had it, had he kept on with dark crystal, i felt he was intimidated by kevin in the last round after his justification of his reason
Is like watching a high stake's poker player take a bad beat.
Kevin played dirty ...... I like it XD
miguel trigo he didn't. Just didn't accept embellishment as right.
Literally the best movie fights EVER. My two favorite contestants have always been Elijah and Kevin and it was so awesome to have both of them. Everyone was polite, no one yelled or talked over each other. Questions were awesome, everyone's arguments were on point... perfect fight. I stopped watching movie fights for a while because I hated it when people got too nasty and "passionate" but I couldn't help but watch these two guys. So happy I did!
What a clutch finish
Kevin smith is a master of putting opponents in unwinable situations, maybe he won due to just being Kevin but he legitimately won with those dirty, rule bending answers
Id like to see Kevin Smith Debate Jon Schnepp or Chris Stuckmann
It was such a dirty answer but good luck ever defending Hitler. Dan tried but man was it a losing battle.
Kratoctavio - the approach was wrong there was a way at least I saw approaching it in terms of it being important historically to be able to teach and remind future generations what happens with total control and masterful use of the arts, as a centerpiece to showing us what happens when our beliefs forced into films can help change a whole nation and the world and why it's important to have something to reference to keep us from ever allowing it to happen again.
You know what? That was an actually really good response to it. Of the other two answers which would you have given the point to?
Kratoctavio - problem it isn't a logical thing, if it's something around strangers people will always choose the anti nazi thing. No one wants to be seen as anything negative or judged. But I think the argument that was made for it, which actually there wasn't one at all, so therefore very weak. It was just manipulating that in a crowd no one would vote against it regardless of the counter point I doubt. People dislike being judged and being called a nazi or racist is very extreme so. But if we just ignore and cover things up it's very detrimental, say you do get rid of it all, within how long before the deniers could realistically start to gather more and more people who believe them due to lack of education with evidence attached. Although these directors were revolutionary and happened to be german during this time, they heavily influenced some of hollywoods greatest directors who took from them during the golden age of Hollywood. So on multiple levels personally I don't see it as a good thing, no matter how vile history is forgetting it is even more dangerous in my opinion.
"Man I'm 36" how many times has Elijah said that this month?
The dynamic between elijah and kevin is great.
Erasing a Nazi propaganda movie from existence doesn't erase Hitler and Nazis from history and doesn't bring back any lives back. It only erases a significant tool which can be used as an example to show and educate new generations how dictatorships use mass propaganda to deceive and manipulate people. Because showing a true historical example is better than all the verbal ways to effectively teach something like that. That's how you take out Kevin's choice in that question.
not only that, but the movie is regarded as a master piece, it might have been propaganda than but now it shows us so much we didn't know. We actually get to see how powerful hilter had become, honestly it was an easy rebuttal, Elijah and Dan didn't even seriously try.
@drmnys I liked your comment because it is one of the truest truths in all of history. But, what if . . . It were to be blinked from existence and no one ever saw it. Following that idea; all following events that occurred, that were influenced by said film, would be nullified. What impact do you reckon it would have had?
Elijah's reactions are my favorite things ever
Trolled Chaos Same
Trolled Chaos that hysterical laugh is everything 😂
Battle of the hats,I say sir!
Elijah... what the fuck., dude. I love how you made everyone in the room watch it, too XD
Kevin Smith goes nuclear on the 'wipe a film from history' question.
Kudos to Dan for having a well-thought out thesis on Jaws 2 and the effect it had on Hollywood, and points for even trying, but as soon as the words were out of his mouth, everyone knew he won that round
Kevin played this whole game sooo dirty. Respect.
Kevin came out to win for real. He doesn't give a damn about being unpopular he just came to play.
I need more Kevin Smith and Elijah Wood movie fights
59:44 - The sudden realisation of the hard loss.
Not gonna lie, I've watched pretty much every "Movie fight" so far and this is by far the best one in my opinion. The players, the questions, and the facts! Top notch Screen Junkies!!!
The Peter Pan Boy Channel you sir must not have watched drunk movie fights with Ken napzok
OMG that Brad Pitt waterslide comment of Ken's had me crying with laughter!
Completely agree, the best one to date.
I've watched a lot of 'em and I gotta say I enjoyed this one a lot more than usual. Maybe it's all the caffeine I've been drinking and the fact that I put it on 2x speed all the way through, but I had lots of fun watching this.
The Peter Pan Boy Channel
Only Max Landis is missing.
I feel like Kevin Smith's answer to the first question was a pitch to Feige, like "hey man love ya got any director openings?" Lol
Yeah totally lol. Then Feige watches Tusk and Yoga Hosers and says "hell no, I'm not giving this guy millions of dollars to make a movie" lol.
That would imply that Feige is an idiot since those were great movies. Kevin Smith should be in charge of everything.
How is Elijah wood 36. I'm 26 and don't look that young haha. He really is a bit of a genius I think. And i really do like Kevin Smith most of the time.Amazing combo. If Elijah was a full time host on a RUclips series or podcast, I would definitely watch/listen. Pretty much everything he has dlne since LOTR, I have enjoyed, whether it's Wilfred or Dirk gentley and everything else
Elijah seems like the kind of guy who would be down to earth enough to have a conversation with you and geek out over nerd stuff. Just wholesome. Kevin is a good foil for him and it’s clear there’s a deep respect between the two of them.
Kevin Smith and Elijah are a match made in heaven!
Elijah had the scariest clip
what was the movie called, i couldn't hear the name. Be gone or something? Oh, begotten
YES thank you!! i legit freaked out when i saw it. nothing is scarier than an IMAGE that never leaves your mind. Not jump scares, not music to play it up. Just a genuinely horrific scene.
Kevin's was creepy too but Elijah had the creepier one
What is that movie called again?
This was fucking amazing. Kevin and Elijah are both fantastic humans. Please make them battle to the death again.
I love the really civilised calm fights. Nothing worse than fighters just shouting over each other
Never clicked on a movie fights so fast in my life.
Same!
Anthony Medeles I clicked so fast my finger went through the back of my phone 😂
I know right?!
49:15 is were I started laughing along with him...LOL
Corey Yeah I have a long work commute 😄
Best fight I've ever seen. The arguments were clever, witty and creative. Great fighters!
Elijah doesn't age
he said he got a painting in his basement doing that for him.
He still got the ring.
NERDSTALGIA clearly not.
He is still in his 30s, when he is hitting his 40s you'll see
I've just discovered Movie Fights, and I've gotta say, after watching a handful of them, boy, is it ever refreshing and just so much more engaging when the arguments are civil and the competitors aren't screaming in each others faces every 3 seconds. Kevin Smith and Elijah Wood are awesome as well, I'd watch them argue film all day.
I was so waiting for someone to allude to Elijah's role in Sin City... it was one of the creepiest characters and scenes, especially when the dog eats Elijah while he stays silent and smiling.
Elijah should have stuck with the Dark Crystal. He had it in the bag! Great fight though. This was tons of fun to watch.
Marcelino Ceniceros seriously...I would have gone with Labyrinth or The Never Ending Story...the never ending cosplay possibilities.
The costumes would have been amazing. But these celebrity movie fights have been very good. I hope they keep them up.
Who else wants a Kevin Smith film starring Elijah Wood now ✋🏼
Omerta989 Moose Jaws starring Elijah Wood. Boom.
It would basically be Wilfred
Kevin Smith uhhhhhhh so hilarious hahaha and Elijah's uncontrollable laugh was the best!!
If you could permanently erase ONE movie from all of existence - which would it be?
I instantly shouted "LAST AIRBENDER" at my screen. I'd give the reasoning but I think everyone who watched and loved the original series need no explanation.
Twilight ?
I feel like Elijah should've said clerks just to mess with Kevin..
No one of age saw that. It is already forgotten.
Alexander Grigoryev Batman and Robin, terminator salvation and the reboot one, nightmare on elm street reboot and hell let’s not forget the Jason is space and leprechaun in the hood and space movies
Captain Marvel, yeah, please erase that one.
Man, it was so fun to see Kevin having a blast with his answers.
So glad to know that Elijah's laugh in the faculty was his real laugh. That laugh is a guaranteed smile for me
I always love when Kevin opens up and starts talking about something he's passionate about. I can listen to him for hours.
Kevin Smith: *"But that's all it is... a sermon as empty as religion."* 🤟🏻🤣 One of many reasons I love this man and wish he was my best friend.
I've never wanted a LONGER episode of Movie Fights more than I wanted to see this one hit the 2hr mark! Favorite episode!
Best ending to a Movie Fight EVER!!!
Dan's face any time he's not talking is my life.
Dear Screen Junkies,
This is the single best movie fight in the history of movie fights.
Your fan.
I always forget how brutal / mildly inappropriate Kevin Smith is. Haha. This is a little bit of awesome. Especially with him next to Elijah Wood who is just the sweetest little guy! He never really knocks down the other options, just talks his up more(which is why I think he doesn't win well. He's too nice and too respectful of movies to just tear the others down)
Alex G. Children or sensitive orchids....equally reliable under pressure.
Kevin Smith was not the inappropriate one, apparently....
Kevin Smith is one of the most politically correct and conservative comedians/actors,directors,producers..etc i have ever heard or seen on screen :) His words are inspirational and full of such wisdom i can fully understand how people cannot comprehend such knowledge. Kevin Smith is a legend. Elijah woods seems to still be getting over his fetish for gold shiny "C rings"....and thats all he will be remembered for. Kevin smith on the other hand, will be remembered for saving the planet with Matt Damon and Ben affleck ;)
@@nickfazio973 he will be remembered for "wilfred". Forget lord of the rings lol.
@@nickfazio973 what a pathetic little comment
6:30 THAT ROAST
Yeah, there's no need to watch the rest.
Dan's Jaws 2 argument was heaven. Beautiful logic.
Wow. What chemistry between Kevin and Elijah.
Both gratious when the other has won. Both enjoying the moment.
I'm not sure though if Kevin is aware of the term Overkill.
The Dark Knight is an unforgettable movie. It's been 10 years since it came out and people still have it as a reference as (maybe) the best comic book movie ever made.
Iron Man, as the starting point of the MCU, will be of course remembered by that and it's also a simple and great movie with a straight to the point story.
Deadpool might be one of them too, for different reasons, but it definitely stirred the pot in the genre, being an R-rated movie and blowing everyone's expectations.
This is the first movie fight I've watched from beginning to end without skipping or doing something else
This was absolutely AMAZING!
Kevin Smith looks so calm, listening to Elijah's James Bond argument, but inside he's going "I've got you now, you little Hobbit"
I love how Kevin has such a sweet adorable face, especially when he laughs, but then the things that come out of his mouth 😂😂😂 . Also Elijah's laugh gives life, he was clearly living for every moment of this. I feel like Dan wasn't as salty as usual, so I don't know why people complain about it so much. That's just his personality and he's still a lovely person imo.
I am legit surprised by Elijah feeling this way about Begotten! Because I have been haunted by this messed up movie since I saw it almost 12 years ago. That wasn't even the worst scene!
It's not A Serbian Film bad
The only thing we remember Serbians for!
Is Elijah roasting the third Hobbit movie at the end? I like it!
THIS IS THE TYPE OF FIGHT I LIKE TO WATCH! BEST ONE SO FAR!!!
I love Elijah Wood so much
I think Elijah would've won if he had stuck with The Dark Crystal.
I thought that was a great pick (and so did Kevin) at least for me, as one of the other great movies from my childhood. Flash Gordon is the other, and an awesome pick by Kevin. Then Elijah made the bold move to change, and the "super fan" in me loved it because I love James Bond movies. Flash Gordon vs. James Bond! I was giddy! But Kevin's rebuttal was a total K.O.
yeah, but Kevin Smith clearly won the side kick question even though the crowd went the other way.
The guy shouting "Well there you go." cracks me up.
Elijah wtf dude!
You were going to win with The Dark Crystal!!
And the best part would have been to beat a powerhouse like Kevin with .... "a muppet movie!" Damn....
WELCOME TO BOND CON! Had me crying I was laughing so hard
The episode with Elijah Wood is still my favorite movie fights episode.
LeMenzoRx Yeah there's never enough LoTR
Holy sh**. If they just grabbed these three and do a US tour I would follow them around and see them in every state. Probably the funniest I have ever seen Kevin be.
my favourite episode, cheers Screen Junkies
Triumph of the Will should have been so easy to take down. "Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it." You can't learn from history if you erase it.
Kyle Hagner except that film isn't a real representation of history, it's a propaganda piece designed to provide the exact opposite of a lesson we can learn from.
I imagine the film itself is still perhaps a valuable piece of history, in that it's an example of the kind of propaganda demagogues can use.
One could have argued that Triumph of the Will is a cause of the Nazi regime and not what started it, so erasing it wouldn't remake History. There were other propaganda pieces.
Not to mention Kevin had no argument for the movie aside from 'It was about Hilter, and if you argue against me, you're arguing for Nazies!' For a show that's supposed to be about the arguments, that being his only argument means he shouldn't have won that round.
Kyle Hagner I was thinking the same thing but under the lights and with Kevin essentially telling everyone if you don't pick me you're a Nazi it was probably tough.
"Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it." - The fact that Elijah and Dan didn't bring that up in the Hitler movie round means they deserved to lose it.
Yep, erasing that movie would let everyone forget all about the Nazis.
Veggie Gamer yeah no the question was never been made ..I think the consequences out weigh if jaws got sequels or not..lol
That movie was defend-able to be honest. First of all, it's not the only propaganda movie in history. All the regimes have such propaganda movies, starting with Nazi's, Soviets, Communists and ending with what ISIS is doing now. If you were to delete one propaganda movie from history, it's as you said. First of all it wouldn't stop the 6 million deaths, it wouldn't change the course of history and you'd still have hundreds of more propaganda movies that do the same thing as "Triumph of the Will".
Now, besides of the fact that the movie could be studied and the effects of propaganda on people, "Triumph of the Will" was a pretty revolutionary movie from a technical standpoint. The aerial photography, the music, the use of long focus lenses to create the distorted perspective, all were some techniques that are being used today in cinematography.
I think Dan tried to argue a bit in that direction...
Learn from history, there is a difference
I loved this! Thanks so much!
I love Kevin Smith's facial reaction when other people are talking
I was like wtf with Kevin's first choice initially. But, he has a good point. The fact that Feige has done what he has done while other studios try to scramble to do the same (while mostly failing) is pretty damn impressive. Especially with how the industry is.
It's kind of like Iron Man 2, ironically, lol. How everyone is trying to make their own Iron Man suits and failing.
Jizzle Doops totally agree, Kevin, as a filmmaker, definitely deserves some credit
Well he did create the biggest cinematic universe of all time, and the first composed of multiple series running in parallel (as in, it isn't composed of a "main" movie series with a couple spinoffs like X-Men and Star Wars). I'd say he's the most influential filmmaker of this decade by far.
Surv He's definitely the most influential but by far the greatest filmmaker, he just created a cash cow full of shitty copy and paste films, and because of the huge success they've had many other companies are now forcing in multiverses were it's not needed, he's started a very bad trend in films and I don't think he should be helmed as the greatest, directors like Martin Scorsese still care about their craft and their art, and they don't try and rush out two sequels to a film multiverse every year just because they know that they'll make bank off it. Fiege has ruined blockbusters for the next decade.
It ain't Feige's fault that he made it work and other studios rush their projects with little care.
The Coolest Copy paste????? Spider-Man is a high school movie, winter soldier is about government corruption, guardians is a space opera movie about outsider that don't belong, ant man is a heist movie, Thor is a fish out of water story, avenger are full blown out comic book movies, captain America civil war is political thriller,Thor ragnarock is going to be a buddy roadcop movie, and black panther is going to be about how a king rule his kingdom. What were you saying about copy paste. Also saying that the mcu made every one make a connected universe for one they didn't. They were plenty of connected universe already star wars for example. The mcu is just the one who did it right.
Can we get a fact check that Elijah Wood isn't 12 scooting around in his Radio Flyer?
I think this is my favorite movie fights episode
Elijah's laugh is the greatest thing..
Elijah is such an awesome guy
HAHAHAHA HAVEN'T LAUGH LIKE THAT IN A WHILE, BEST EPISODE SO FAR GUYS KEEP UP THE AWESOME WORK!
Love Dan's passion about the studio driven sequel inspired by "Jaws II"
I'm now 8 minutes into the video.
It's been quite a time since I watched a movie fights - not cause I don't like 'em anymore, but lately I've been out of time, and couldn't catch the time to give those the attention they deserve (and they deserve attention, cause english is not my main language, so I have to pay attention to understand every little thing).
BUT
All that said, and the fact that I'm EIGHT minutes of video now, and I am already pretty sure my time is being well invested with this one.
Thank you SJ.
