    I got to work with Elijah on a two different things... honestly, he's literally the nicest guy I've ever met. Almost to the point where you want him to act a little more like a 'star', like, demand something, or be diva'ish just a little, say "no" to something - be grumpy for a second. No, he's just a regular, insanely nice guy. We were standing around talking in a circle before the shoot got rolling and you almost forget he's there because he's not like most stars, being the center of attention. He's just laughing, talking along. I honestly can't say enough good things about the guy, truly was an honor.

    Elijah's horror clip was so deeply unsettling that I totally get it. The idea of someone just sitting in a chair all wrapped up in gauze and just stabbing them self to only the sound of crickets is just so detached from reality that it just fucks with the viewer on a subconscious level of "something is deeply wrong here but I can't place it"

    • @IIDEADBIRDII

    Just the fact that he brings up an obscure movie such as " Begotten" which 90% of the audience probably hadn't scene is awesome and refreshing (rather then everyone else who chose well known movies)!! Kudos to the guy:)

    I'm way behind on my RUclips subscriptions, so nobody's probably even gonna see this comment... but I still wanted to express how much I enjoyed and appreciated this particular episode of Movie Fights. I enjoyed it not only because of the awesome atmosphere with a great, live crowd reacting enthusiastically throughout the show, but because Kevin Smith and Elijah Wood are perhaps my two favorite special guest fighters that have previously competed on the show. I don't know either of them personally, but they both seem like such genuinely nice, chill, and positive people. They are both clearly extremely knowledgeable of cinema and Kevin is especially very clever with his arguments and rebuttals. Again, they both exude very positive, down-to-earth, and chill vibes, which made this episode extremely entertaining.

    • @Alphenex
      @Alphenex 6 лет назад +2

      Kratoctavio - the approach was wrong there was a way at least I saw approaching it in terms of it being important historically to be able to teach and remind future generations what happens with total control and masterful use of the arts, as a centerpiece to showing us what happens when our beliefs forced into films can help change a whole nation and the world and why it's important to have something to reference to keep us from ever allowing it to happen again.

    • @Kratoctavi0
      @Kratoctavi0 6 лет назад

      You know what? That was an actually really good response to it. Of the other two answers which would you have given the point to?

    • @Alphenex
      @Alphenex 6 лет назад +2

      Kratoctavio - problem it isn't a logical thing, if it's something around strangers people will always choose the anti nazi thing. No one wants to be seen as anything negative or judged. But I think the argument that was made for it, which actually there wasn't one at all, so therefore very weak. It was just manipulating that in a crowd no one would vote against it regardless of the counter point I doubt. People dislike being judged and being called a nazi or racist is very extreme so. But if we just ignore and cover things up it's very detrimental, say you do get rid of it all, within how long before the deniers could realistically start to gather more and more people who believe them due to lack of education with evidence attached. Although these directors were revolutionary and happened to be german during this time, they heavily influenced some of hollywoods greatest directors who took from them during the golden age of Hollywood. So on multiple levels personally I don't see it as a good thing, no matter how vile history is forgetting it is even more dangerous in my opinion.

    Erasing a Nazi propaganda movie from existence doesn't erase Hitler and Nazis from history and doesn't bring back any lives back. It only erases a significant tool which can be used as an example to show and educate new generations how dictatorships use mass propaganda to deceive and manipulate people. Because showing a true historical example is better than all the verbal ways to effectively teach something like that. That's how you take out Kevin's choice in that question.

    • @Ironboyg101
      @Ironboyg101 6 лет назад +2

      not only that, but the movie is regarded as a master piece, it might have been propaganda than but now it shows us so much we didn't know. We actually get to see how powerful hilter had become, honestly it was an easy rebuttal, Elijah and Dan didn't even seriously try.

      @drmnys I liked your comment because it is one of the truest truths in all of history. But, what if . . . It were to be blinked from existence and no one ever saw it. If Elijah was a full time host on a RUclips series or podcast, I would definitely watch/listen. The Dark Knight is an unforgettable movie. It's been 10 years since it came out and people still have it as a reference as (maybe) the best comic book movie ever made.
    Iron Man, as the starting point of the MCU, will be of course remembered by that and it's also a simple and great movie with a straight to the point story.
    Deadpool might be one of them too, for different reasons, but it definitely stirred the pot in the genre, being an R-rated movie and blowing everyone's expectations.

    • @GryffNZ
      @GryffNZ 6 лет назад +23

    • @kh1354

    • @etiennegalarneau6015
      @etiennegalarneau6015 6 лет назад +1

      One could have argued that Triumph of the Will is a cause of the Nazi regime and not what started it, so erasing it wouldn't remake History. There were other propaganda pieces.

    • @ApplesAngels
      @ApplesAngels 6 лет назад +19

      Not to mention Kevin had no argument for the movie aside from 'It was about Hilter, and if you argue against me, you're arguing for Nazies!' For a show that's supposed to be about the arguments, that being his only argument means he shouldn't have won that round.

    • @Misfit_Minded
      @Misfit_Minded 6 лет назад

    • @CG_LeveL
      @CG_LeveL 6 лет назад +17

      That movie was defend-able to be honest. First of all, it's not the only propaganda movie in history. All the regimes have such propaganda movies, starting with Nazi's, Soviets, Communists and ending with what ISIS is doing now. If you were to delete one propaganda movie from history, it's as you said. First of all it wouldn't stop the 6 million deaths, it wouldn't change the course of history and you'd still have hundreds of more propaganda movies that do the same thing as "Triumph of the Will".
      Now, besides of the fact that the movie could be studied and the effects of propaganda on people, "Triumph of the Will" was a pretty revolutionary movie from a technical standpoint. The aerial photography, the music, the use of long focus lenses to create the distorted perspective, all were some techniques that are being used today in cinematography.

      Well he did create the biggest cinematic universe of all time, and the first composed of multiple series running in parallel (as in, it isn't composed of a "main" movie series with a couple spinoffs like X-Men and Star Wars). I'd say he's the most influential filmmaker of this decade by far.

    • @brendanspaulding7930
      @brendanspaulding7930 6 лет назад +17

      Surv He's definitely the most influential but by far the greatest filmmaker, he just created a cash cow full of shitty copy and paste films, and because of the huge success they've had many other companies are now forcing in multiverses were it's not needed, he's started a very bad trend in films and I don't think he should be helmed as the greatest, directors like Martin Scorsese still care about their craft and their art, and they don't try and rush out two sequels to a film multiverse every year just because they know that they'll make bank off it. Fiege has ruined blockbusters for the next decade.

    • @jizzledoops6789
      @jizzledoops6789 6 лет назад +21

Spider-Man is a high school movie, winter soldier is about government corruption, guardians is a space opera movie about outsider that don't belong, ant man is a heist movie, Thor is a fish out of water story, avenger are full blown out comic book movies, captain America civil war is political thriller,Thor ragnarock is going to be a buddy roadcop movie, and black panther is going to be about how a king rule his kingdom.What were you saying about copy paste. Also saying that the mcu made every one make a connected universe for one they didn't. They were plenty of connected universe already star wars for example. The mcu is just the one who did it right.
