As long as its clean does it matter if it is in my bedroom? That is where my desk is and it is certainly where i feel most comfortable, or should it be in a room that is empty like in a basement?

Yes, as long as it's clean and orderly behind you that's fine. As you know you can always move the camera to an angle that is the best for your situation.
