is manix rob playford do you know? the guy from foul play. because this and shining down on me sounds very like goldie and i think rob playford produced timeless too.
+John Stratus Ruffige kru was effectively Goldie colabs, more 50/50 than his solo stuff that was probably using the engineer as a puppet. I think its therefore him + 4 hero, Rob Playford, Danny j or Heist. You were about right in as far as some Ruffige kru being Goldie and Rob but the Reinforced stuff was all 4 hero. For me the best stuff that he did was during that period.
Unintentional, but true. Thats the stigma sample CD's have. Have you never witnessed it before? It happens all the time. Listen out for things like vocal samples, sax licks, pads etc. Its easy to make your own sounds, but its quicker to use samples. I love the music thats made with pretty much 97% samples, (pretty much everything these days), but when we link up in the studio, we play what we make, so its more original. Nobody will make a track with identical sounds, because they're exclusive.
Its not true. You are talking about sample cd's when this tune was made with an akai sampler in 1993.It takes floppy discs, where do you put the CD? This tune is made up of samples, that much is true, but the chords, strings and beats were sampled from analogue sources. The beats were chopped up and rearranged, the string samples were given loop points so a short sample could be made to sound like a never ending pad. Your phone has got more memory than the equipment used to make this.
@@housinauthority5258 i only heard of that term being used in 1992 when a tune had a jungle 'feel' to it, like the tune Party children by Upgrade Massive but even though tunes like Lenny De Ice's tune We are IE had the Amen break, it wasnt termed as Jungle at that point, the Term Jungle became genre after 1993 when the Amen break completely took over so on that basis, I disagree with you.
Haha I recognise that first chord sample from one of their own other tunes, just with with some formant-filter effects over it. Nice tune though, even if they WERE running low on samples!
I think it's funny that people are criticizing these producers for reusing samples. That's like criticizing Bach for using violas in his music.
Just tell them to shut up and lol to your comment
Still sounds so fresh in 2023
So ahead of its time 1993. The production is just reaching out beyond the dancefloor .
Smoothest jungle track I've ever heard. 😏😏😎😎
Found this EP for £1.50 in a used vinyl shop, thank you universe.
Man, that's a steal. In the UK, It's called a nick.
Awe, the sound of Tranquility.. Heavenly vibe & adore them VocalS.❤
Such an underrated tune.
Absolutely beautiful..
This track led me to David Sylvian's discography back in the day. His unique vocal tone fits so perfectly here

This is one of the few reinforced 12's I missed unfortunately. never even heard it until about a year ago. It sounds like manix to me. What a tune.

don't know where i got that from. who produced inner city life with goldie? one of the tracks on this e.p. reminds me very much of that.
oh right:) this is an epic reinforced release all the same. its very timeless sounding imo
+John Stratus

wow, you can really hear what he was building up to for Timeless...
You mean Rob Playford…
@@all.the.same.iProductions goldie instructed rob what to create/lay out. rob was sequencing the music
@@all.the.same.iProductions Rob played no part in this. It was Goldie, 4 hero & manix
Rob Playford produced Timeless. And this is a dego/mark mac produ tion. Goldie Probaly rolling a spliff cos he weren't pressing no buttons!

I am back in the Bank in Stokes Croft with the Ruffneck Ting Crew
These pitch downs at the beginning of the song...OH LEE SHIIIIET !
3:14 that chord progression is impressive
Intro used as outro on the amazing Green Girl by Dan Curtin
Damn, what an amazing spot! Wonder if it's a sample of another song or from a synth patch, or whether Curtin did just sample it from this track.

TheJunglist76 there were loads of sample cds back then.... You sampled from a CD player into the sampler.
Good ole days of SCSI drives but for real who cares about sampling :P
@@stuartmcclung7965 yes and there was also such thing as an Akai cd3000
It’s just a box that records sounds. You can plug any audio source you want into it. CD/Record player, synth, microphone etc. 👍🏻

👍👌👌👌
Top knotch tune

I used to try to make these on a 1996 shity keyboard but never perfected it but I now use phone apps and the results aren't to bad
Would this style have been considered jungle tekno back in day?
probably breakbeat hardcore or on the cusp of being called jungle
agreed, this was late summer 93 so yes, it was right on the edge of the evolution to Jungle.

Goldie and Photek use a couple of braks and snares too often, you can almost recognize them in every song
