They sure could, especially with their new focus on wanting to be mentioned in the same sentence as the big 3. What else could be possible: Genesis' G vehicles getting more love fr the aftermarket tuners or creating a flagship coupe reminiscent of the NSX in its inception phase?

Before Hyundai can claim the Honda crown, there is one thing they have to do. They need to make truly special engines/powerplants. For instance, Honda is famous for their K series design, but Hyundai doesn't really have anything that hit that legendary status. Their designs look good, and they have come into their own and there are some special cars out there. This to me is the final step. And lately, Honda has stepped it up with the Type R.
On a side note, both companies need to go with dual injection technology. Carbon buildup is an issue. Catch cans and seafoam do not cut it.

Nah but Honda reliability is still untouchable. Hyundai did get better but they're still nowhere near Honda/Toyota in that regard. Honda only started making boring cars because that's what the market wanted especially due to rising gas prices. But even their boring cars have the distinction of being highly customizable. You can turn virtually any Honda into a 300hp+ car. They're very easy to customize and the engines can handle it. Not many other engines can handle extra horsepower on top of stock horsepower.

Everything is easy to work on, and is built well. The front wheel drive is amazing, even with bigger obstacles, as it is VERY easy to pull alot of power from the engine. The WORST thing that can happen to this engine, is the valve cover gasket leaks and gets the alternator dirty. Hell the worst the company has done in the last 10 years is a recall with the ioniq because LG fucked up. Buy a type R and take it to the track let’s see if it’s boring 🤦‍♂️

@@sebastianordaz535 Civic Type R is pretty slow for the money. A base manual WRX will dog walk it on a track or a drag race while being 10K cheaper. And if you don't need FWD or AWD, I would just get a Mustang GT or V8 Camaro, as they are much quicker for the same money.

@@sebastianordaz535 Uh, the STI beat the Civic Type R around the Nürburgring by almost a full minute. The only areas where the Type R is better is in it's transmission which shifts a bit smoother and less understeer due to only being FWD instead of AWD. But the AWD coupled with more torque more than makes up for it.

The crz is still a blast though, I tend to think honda breathed it's last breath after 2011 with the release of the fit and the crz.

Apparently Acura is gonna be there “performance” line up now. What!?! I was a diehard Honda guy - first car being a DC2 Integra and the second being a TSX. Now, I own 2 Toyotas. Never before did I think that was even a remote possibility.
