If you have the right vocal range, it shouldn't actually be that bad since there's no belting. (Then again, my voice is physically incapable of belting, so that might just be me) Btw, I'm talking about the song before the whistle notes were added. A lot of people with soprano ranges (I know that's probably not the correct term. I don't know the correct term) can hit at least some whistle notes, but unless you put a ton of practice in, it does not sound like it's coming from a particularily healthy creature.
First I thought, "oh, okey, how high can it get...." and the middle hits... "oh... That high.... And higher??"... And then the end got me like "oh my...! She got pipes! ❤️ "
I was tempted to request ... most of the soundtrack, really. Maybe two soundtracks. "Think of me. Think of me fondly, when we've said goodbye. Remember me once in a while. Please promise me you'll try." "In sleep he sang to me; in dreams he came, that voice which calls to me and speaks my name." "All I want is freedom, a world with no more night, and you, always beside me, to hold me and to hide me." "You were once my one companion; you were all that mattered. You were once a friend and father, then my world was shattered." "Hands touch. Eyes meet. Sudden silence. Sudden heat. Hearts leap in a giddy whirl. He could be that boy, but I'm not that girl." "I'm through with playing by the rules of someone else's game. Too late for second-guessing, too late to go back to sleep, it's time to trust my instincts, close my eyes and leap!" "Don't let them in. Don't let them see. Be the good girl you always have to be. Conceal. Don't feel. Don't let them know. Well, now they know!"

I actually accidentally hit the dislike button by accident a lot, it's actually possible. Good thing though RUclips doesn't care as long as there is a reaction so it carries the same positive weight as a like in the algorithm.
Whenever you sing, it's like turning up the volume for soundwaves of serotonin. The hair on my arms are standing up straight, those high notes are just beautiful.
this has been one of my favourite songs since it came out, adam melchor is truly an amazing song writer and always comes out with something beautiful! amazing cover
Jewel has been one of my favorite songs for several months now so of course I screamed when I got the notification ahaha you absolutely nailed it :)) and those HIGH NOTES THO
Here's hoping you see this. It's a bit of a technical question. On that last chorus, where you jump the octave, I notice three distinct sound. You have your normal head voice, then this lighter voice for most of the notes, but then this more restricted note with no vowel for the top note, before you go back down. What I'm wondering is how this feels to you. Does it feel like three different registers? Or, if it feels like two, where does it divide? Or does it possibly just feel like one continuous register? And, most importantly, did it feel like you had to really tighten your voice to hit that top note? I ask because of the mysteries of the flageolet and whistle registers, where people don't seem to be sure if they're the same thing, or the former more of a passagio or mix that takes you from one to the other, or two registers that are both completely distinct from head voice.
Whistle register is typically distinct from normal head voice, because you're not using the head resonators. It's all in the vocal chords. It's a completely different mechanic. I imagine it would feel very different to the performer, because of the method you employ to generate the sound in each register.
@@Kopp203 It's not head voice vs. whistle register I'm asking about. It's flageolet ("flute voice in Italian) vs. whistle register. The reason I'm asking is because the literature on the subject is kinda sparse. There are some who think flageolet and whistle register are the same thing, just the former tends to be better trained. There are others who say it's completely different. My current theory is that, since vocal scientists only found four registers to the voice--vocal fry, modal, falsetto, and whistle tone--and head voice is a mix between modal and falsetto, that flageolet might be a mixture between head voice and whistle tone. Like you might be tensing up the chords to get that smaller sound as you go up into flageolet, and eventually it reaches a point where it is whisle tone. So, since Malinda is a knowledgeable, accademically trained singer who can sing in whistle tone (and possibly in flageolet), I thought I'd ask her some questions about it. Unfortunately, she either hasn't seen them or wanted to reply.
I've been following long enough not to be surprised by the beauty, range, and clarity of your voice; yet, here you are, surprising me, amazing me, and wowing me once again. Thanks for sharing it with the world!
Hi malinda! I just wanted to say that you are my inspiration! I look up to you so much and I hope you know that everyone here loves you and we appreciate you! Thank you for making our lives better!
I'd never heard this song before, but that was lovely. I don't always appreciate whistle notes (bitterness because I can't produce them? Maybe.) but your voice is so pure.
It is mindblowing how effortless you make it look The control you have over your voice through your (extensive) range is really really impressive There is an unassuming grace in the way you sing and create your music May you bless people with your gift for years and years to come
This is now my most favorite song! I love it! I would listen to it milion times over and over! And the high notes! They are the best part of any song that I have ever heard! This is the pure beauty!
This song and how you sang it has taken me deep in my being. Deep into my soul. Deep into my heart as I am reminded of the man God brought into my life as my husband 24 years ago. Thank you Malinda for the high notes that allowed us to really hear what a wonderful voice God has given you. I love you and your songs and most of all the emotion you put into your singing. ❤
This kinda reminds me of how I originally found Malinda's channel through her collab cover with Jonathan Young of Phantom of the Opera. Hearing Malinda hit those high notes on a metal cover of an Opera song and then discovering Gradually Watermelon right afterwards immediately proved her incredible range and depth of talent :)
I spontaneously started to tear up and shed some tears listening to this. The beauty of it caught me by surprise and left me with such peace and longing. Dang! That was good and I want another hit of that!
It's an indescribable pleasure, Malinda, to hear you climb Tone Mountain like that, and make it sound easy. Ri-co-laaa.... I've been so fortunate to find artists on RUclips who bring out wonderful songs and music that otherwise might go unlistened. I appreciate that. A lot. : )
I would love to hear you sing Bridge Over Troubled Waters by Simon & Garfunkel. One of my favorite songs since my daughter sang it years back in a children's choir

AMAZING JOB
My brain went *Haha, what if there was a fourth octave?*
Sadly, my vocal range wouldn't allow for it, so I'll wait til' someone does it.
Just need a bass singer who can sing whistle notes.
*Roy Orbison has entered the conversation*
I think that Meatloaf had a four octave range.
