It's funny, for a man that claimed to not want any friends, it was ultimately his friend's death that broke him. R.I.P. King Ecbert, you gave us the greatest "frenemy" relationship in television. And poor sweet Helga, it's true that they always take the best of us. (Oh yea, and Sigurd died too, I guess)
Siggurd's hate towards Ivar was deeper than just jealousy of Aslaug's affections. When they were younger it was Siggurd who found Björn and Porunn's neglected little girl Siggy dead in the stream. Siggurd told about it to Aslaug and Ivar. Ivar as a small child said who cares while Aslaug smiled. Who knows how much shit went down with them in the following years. :-)
Exactly Sigurd was a good man being neglected by a bitch and his crazy son. Sigurd over Ivar anyday. Atleast Sigurd is a real son of Ragnar in the way he behaved and the values he had unlike fuckhead Ivar.
That little girl was basically kidnapped by people that murdered all of her people. She doesn’t speak their language as you could see in episode 17 I think the little girl wasn’t afraid of Floki but of Helga because she smothered her sooooo I don’t really blame the girl for what she did because she really had no other choice.
Yeah I agree..Helga kept smothering the girl and showed her nothing but death & destruction to be fair. That girl was clearly so traumatized & messed up not only because of the Vikings but also due to Helga unfortunately, so I wasn't surprised at all when she killed Helga & herself.
also you follow some people that took everything from you by force then take you along also by force to well do the same of another group of people ya ..what she did make total sense.
Ivar is psycho, but ultimately exciting in battle. My heart broke when helga died , poor floki. Egbert, I think is one of the reasons I really got into this. I love the vikings, dont get me wrong, but what a complex character, and such good dialogue and acting. now onto season five, you will be caught up soon, YIKES lovely reactions again:)
You missed the most important thing in this episode: King Ecbert cheats Ragnar's sons, By signing as king on a document that worth nothing, Because he was no longer the king when he signed this document. And with that he achieved two goals: An easy death according to his own choice, And revenge that would come later from the part of the Saxons who would realize that the signed document owned by the Vikings is worthless.
Sigurd had it coming, I can so understand that rage Ivar felt towards him. I love how his face shows instant regret at first after throwing the axe, which then transforms into a look of satisfaction - so very well played by the actor. Regarding Floki, you listed all the bad things that happened to him and said ”he deserves happiness”. I couldn’t help but think of Ragnar’s line ”Happiness is nothing” at that point, and how right he was. As long as Floki was looking for happiness, he failed in his undertakings or he was miserable. It is only in the end when he views himself as a tiny part of the universe with no ambitions or goals, that he finds his inner peace. The same goes for everyone else striving for their own happiness on this show - they inevitably go through something bad. Björn, Hvitserk fail in their relationships, Ivar too when he marries Freydis and becomes king, Harald as well with Astrid and Gunnhild, Lagertha when she hoped to be happy with Ragnar, then Heahmund later on, Aslaug with Ragnar and Harbard - the list goes on for almost every character. They only find contentment once they stop looking for happiness and start doing things for other reasons. Most interesting.
Sigurd insulted Ivar because he was the child spoilt by Auslag. Auslag neglected Sigurd. He’s not doing it because Ivar is disabled, but because of how he’s felt his whole life and how no one has really cared for him as much as Ivar.
Aslaug kinda deserves the hate. Like you said, she prioritized Ivar's well being over all her other children. Ubbe and his brother almost drowned because of her neglect and Siggy sacrificed her life to save them.
Voice of Reason Yeah I agree to some extent. But Ivar needed the most attention. He’s a cripple and has been in constant pain his whole life. She had to prioritise him over all the other children.
I mean ivar got all the attention and love from aslaug while sigurd was completely neglected. His resentment towards ivar isn't that unreasonable knowing that
Maybe but none of that is Ivar's fault. He only got all that attention since he was a cripple and depended on his mother as a child, to get around & pretty much survive reli.
Helga was such a kind person. I felt sorry for her after the losing her daughter(Angrboda). She couldn't move on from that loss. It hard for parents to move on from losing a child. I guess she saw adopting Tanaruz as a second chance.
THE REASON WHY SHE KILLED HELGA IS BC FIRST SHE WAS TAKEN,THEN HELGA SMOTHERED THE SHIT OUT OF HER. REMEMBER WHEN FLOKI WENT TO FIND HER THEY WERE OK BUT THEN HELGA CAME AND GRABBED HER SHE WAS SHOOK. NOT TO MENTION BRINGING HER BACK INTO ANOTHER RAIDING SITUATION WHERE THEY KILLED HER FAMILY THE SAME WAY MUSTVE REALLY BROUGHT BACK PTSD SHIT.
love ur reactions! cant wait for you to get to episode 3 of season 5 for what might be my favorite scene in the whole show that solidified Ivar as my favorite character!
"Why Helga" Because one of the prevalent themes in all these shows that we love (Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Vikings etc) is that there are consequences for ones' actions. Floki warned Helga not to take the child, who was clearly traumatized and suffering PTSD.
@7:15 Bjorn : "Sometimes we have to consider things beyond our feelings and think what is best for our people." Funny how quickly Bjorn forgot that ( talking about the way he is acting around S05E13) PS : SPOILERS might be present in the replies.
PRATIK1900 Spoilers. Well I understand why Bjorn feels the way he does now. Ecbert betrayed Ragnar in season 3. The lands given to them by Ecbert was in fact all a lie. Bjorn feels as if he can’t negotiate with the Saxons anymore because he might get betrayed AGAIN. Even though Alfred is reasonable, Bjorn won’t risk trying to negotiate with them so that’s why he feels the way he does with Ubbe and why he’s pissed at him getting baptized.
@@omar_elattar.6500 SPOILERS. He is already at the mercy of Alfred in his present situation. Instead of sitting around doing nothing, he can do SOMETHING lol. His only option right now is to trust Alfred. And the fact that the conversion made his so angry shows that he did not learn much from his father. Ragnar himself underwent baptism when the situation demanded it. And I agree 100% with Alfred when he says that Ubbe is the son that resembles Ragnar the most. He is the one who did what needed to be done.
SPOILER REPLY Well here's the relevant thing Bjorn is older than his brothers, he was there with Ragnar when England screwed them over again, again, again and again, and his girl almost died and got screwed up fighting for the Saxons, which accomplished nothing because it was a trick...Then they killed his father...And then after that he learns on the spot that the land he was promised was yet another lie! Would you be anxious to strike another bargain with those people again if you were him? Because I would be! From the outside it's pretty obvious that Alfred 'seems' honest, but from Bjorn's perspective it's really difficult to believe whatever they say, he only came coz he had no place to go and now he's going to leave.....
PRATIK1900 i totally agree with you on bjorn.i dont get why he is so pissed at ubbe.his lagertha said it too,if they would have stayed in norway they would be dead already.coming to england was their only choice...and they all agreed to fight for the christians against vikings(their own people)so for me it doesnt make much of a difference if ubbe gets baptised to get that land.he clearly doesnt seem to believe it anyway...and at least he is doing something productive and is not sitting around bitching about everything and fucking girls he should not...sorry,i loved bjorn once, but now he is getting on my nerves the last couple of episodes
@@bettinasurber Same. Right now my favourite characters are Ubbe and Alfred. Floki used to be one, but now his storyline is boring AF. Also Ivar was another, but the way they are taking Ivar's character does not sit very well with me either. He used to have a bit of humanity, even though it was little. Now they almost ruined the shades of grey his character had and made him a total villain. There was a reason so many people were #TeamIvar, and now look at him. Looking at his interaction with floki in S05E01 (when he says he will go away) makes me so sad. So much potential lost. I was never a big fan of Bjorn, so not really care that much.
You should come visit one of Norway’s viking festivals. For example Midgardsblot in Horten. And the Viking festival from where I am from, the Vikingfestival at Karmøy. Karmøy is the place where King Harald Finehair had his throne.
Sigurd was to be a great King, according to the sagas. Actually, despite of putting them during this timeline, Halfdan the Black is the father of Harald Finehair as both are descendants of Sigurd. However, I didn't like Sigurd either as I am glad they killed him off. Especially the way they did. They took the opportunity to show Ivar's uncontrollable anger. At the end, when he looks at Sigurd on the ground, you can see Ivar's expression. He didn't mean to kill his brother.
Often it is not the consequences of our sins that see us to our ends, but our moments of mercy, kindness, and misguided attempts to help others that doom us. It is a sad irony that more great men and women were destroyed by those they loved, rather than their most formidable enemies.
Love the hair today btw. You look great! I can't wait for you to start season 5!

bruh why everyone stands on Ivar's side, always Ivar starts roasting sigurd and then Situation flips over, and Ivar is mad beacuse "sigurd insulted him"
That had nothing to do with Ivar being "Crazy" Carly.. U can see by Ivars face, as soon as Ivar throws the Axe, he realised what he had done. Ivar is impulsively violent when he gets angry, he truly didn't mean or want to kill his brother Sigurd. U should check out Ivar season 5 catch up, it came out before S5 premiere it explains that and how Ivar has no filter, that thing in our brain which makes us stop and think, (forgotten the correct term & words for it) Ivar doesn't have, which makes him scary and dangerous as u never really know what he's going to do. Ivar's face showed how shocked he was by his own actions, Sigurd was asking for it if u ask me, he knows his brothers vulnerabilities & buttons, which he constantly uses and pushes even when there's no need for it but Sigurd enjoys that. Sigurd being neglected or not as spoilt by his mother is no excuse for how he treats his little brother. I don't get mad at Ivar, not just because I love him and since he's a darker version of Ragnar. Or could say he has the dark parts of Ragnar whereas Ubbe has the light parts (level headed, farmer, family man part) but because Ivar has his issues and many difficulties in life already so he feels he needs to prove himself more. Sigurd saying he's not a man in front of everyone was cruel, Ivar had already nearly killed him once before due to anger so he got what was coming for being stupid. Ivar puts on a don't care at all persona, especially around his brothers as he feels he needs to do that and cant show his vunerable side as he already has one major weakness he cant hide, his legs (rare bone disease). The other brothers get on fine enough, well they did before this.. even Ubbe knew Ivar was losing it and tried to calm him "Ivar do not listen to him" Also keep in mind that Ivar is ALWAYS angry, he carries a rage inside he wishes he didn't have. If u remember his talk with his father Ragnar during 4x15 " I wish I wasn't so angry all the time" .Ivar lost control in this episode and the one thing Ivar never wanted to do is lose control.
Aslaug raised a terrible child and she condoned his impulses. When Bjorn's daughter died Ivar saw that she didn't care when she was suppose to watch her. So Ivar didn't care either, Sigurd wasn't dumb he said we should all stick together yet Ivar insults him. Not gonna mention any spoilers but as you can see he was right after all, he has mind of a child rather than seek a future for his people he seeks vengeance. Ivar single handedly broke the bond the sons of ragnar had. I personally don't like the route they're taking with Ivar in season 5, Ragnar would not be pleased...
@@joeycash9739 no she didnt, Ivar was always gonna have his issues and anger problems due to his deformity and culture hes from. Aslaug was far from a perfect mother I know that, and Ivar has a lot of her mannerisms too but he also has a lot of Floki & Ragnar in him too. Ivar never had a relationship with Siggy either so not too surprised he didn't feel anything for her. & can't say much about them when it comes to Siggys death since her actual father Bjorn, neglected and abandoned her, if he had been a father, took responsibilty in the first place maye she'd be alive today. Bjorn clearly didn't give a damn about her death either. It was only Sigurd who spoke and played with her. Aslaug was like that with him since he already had enough difficulties to overcome from birth, she loved him the most and saved his life so of course she told him it wasn't his fault when he killed a child by accident & what not. Also Floki's teachings made him darker too (Floki actually looked impressed after he killed a child) so he had quite a few influences & role models during his upbringing. . As for Sigurd, yes he was stupid because he grew up with Ivar, he understands how he gets and thinks he's insane so why say all those things, especially in public when you know how Ivar is. They were clearly never all gonna stick together when none of them except Bjorn listened to Ivar's ideas & strategies, Bjorn is leaving for the Mediterranean and Ubbe wants to settle down and farm lands (which wouldn't work out since they don't really own the land given to them) ..Ivar is still very young so he's allowed to be childish at times, he's still growing and learning just like how Bjorn did when he came back s2/3. Sigurd & Ivar have never got on and Sigurd is always laughing and making fun of him so ofc Ivar insults him, Sigurd went below the belt though. Ivar loved his Mother and Father so much, he was distraught & screaming 4x16, Ragnar knew Ivar would definetly get vengeance for him so why is so wrong he wants the same for his mother. If he just gave up on justice for Ragnar everyone wouldn't like that, yet because he won't give up on revenge for his mother its all his fault now, no. No sorry, I hate how it ends up but I get where Ivar's coming from completely, he isn't wrong. If anyone broke the bond and started all this crap its Lagertha, she shouldn't of killed Aslaug, she had every reason not to kill her. Ivar wouldn't have a need for vengeance so Lagertha is to blame, she was stupid, petty and wrong to kill their mother. Ivar would much prefer to have his brothers by his side believe it or not. Ragnar would understand Ivar wanting revenge on Lagertha, he wouldn't want it of course but he would understand completely. Apart from his killing Sigurd, I believe Ragnar would be proud of his son Ivar and what he has accomplished since Ragnar never even believed he would survive to that age let alone become king, find a way to walk etc. I don't like what happening with him recently in s5 but again its due to another new characters lies & influence. Hopefully the show sort it and gets rid. I'd love nothing more than the bros to live in peace but don't see that happening unfortunately.
Ivar thinks of only himself. Carly, you’re killing me defending Ivar lol. He is an absolute psychopath. Don’t get me wrong I love his character, but what he did to Sigurd was inexcusable. All he has done is prove he should NEVER lead. Alex, does a great job with the character, but I feel no empathy for Ivar at all. A leader that thinks of his own needs alone is very dangerous. If Ivar really wants to honor his father he should help establish the “Vikings” establish in East Anglia. That was Ragnar’s dream. Just my thoughts very early in the morning lol
I reacted to it after filming Episode 15 but the footage got corrupted and deleted from my hard drive for some reason. I wasn't able to recover it :( I'm sorry
Ivar truly didn't mean to kill Sigurd, he is impulsively violent when he gets angry unfortunately... Ivar lost control and the one thing Ivar never wants to do, is lose control.
This is when the show starts to go WAY of historical events. Seagard in history goes on to be a king or something similar. This is when I stopped watching the show! It is a great show but one of the many things that made it great ( besides Ragnar and Ecbert ) is that it was loosely based on historical events. This is way too much of a diversion that contributes absolutely nothing to the show in general! But I will continue to watch your reactions even though I haven't watched the actual episodes :D
Hey, now that you watched this season, could you consider watching "Ragnar Lothbrok - The Choice" by Zurik? It's a really beautiful video, I think you will like it :)
People keep telling you to watch Black Sails after you’re done with Vikings. Dont waste your time on that show. Its really boring. I love Vikings, GOT, TWD, Prison Break, Breaking Bad, etc.. but Black Sails is boring af!
Dumpster Fire how? Its boring to me. No real battles, boring characters, boring time period, etc... I was always waiting for a big battle to happen but it never did..
Of course I was joking but I liked it. It is okay to like and dislike the same things. :D Blind wave channel reacted to the whole show and they loved it and so did many of the commenters. It would not have gotten four season if everyone else thought it was shit. ;) You say there were no battles and I say there was a lot of them. Sure many were smaller dozens of men fighting in ships etc... but there was a lot of fighting imo. The dialog was very different yes but I liked it and I like the time period. The characters were not boring at all. Captain Vane! :D But you do you. Nothing wrong with that.

13:28 skeptical Carly lmao
Yes Girl!!!! Episode 1 & 2 tomorrow 😱🎅 OMG Thank u Hun
season 5 ep 3 homeland best episode "im Ivar the boneless"
U know it lol..."DONT YOU KNOW WHO I AM... YOU CAN'T KILL ME"
Keep up the reaction videos I enjoy watching them.
I am... shaking!!!!
i can’t wait for you to see season 5 skål! lol love your videos
#TeamIvar
For a change let me recommend Black Mirror or Expanse for you when you eventually catch up with the show.
Dumpster Fire I’m all caught up on Black Mirror and will be reacting to the new season that’s coming out!
@@CarlyNicole1 sweet! It's a great show! :D
Carly please react to The Choice, the tribute video for Ragnar
I reacted to it after filming Episode 15 but the footage got corrupted and deleted from my hard drive for some reason. I wasn't able to recover it :( I'm sorry
I m routing for Ivar but at the same time it annoyed me when he killed Sigurd, hope Ivar gets his comeuppance for that
Ivar truly didn't mean to kill Sigurd, he is impulsively violent when he gets angry unfortunately... Ivar lost control and the one thing Ivar never wants to do, is lose control.
M obsessed with you and ur lovely eyes I love you so much keep up the good work
This is when the show starts to go WAY of historical events.
Oh man, this season has really been something else. I can't wait to experience Season Five with my most favorite reactor! Woohoo!!
I keep hoping for Ivar's death. More so now.
Hey, now that you watched this season, could you consider watching "Ragnar Lothbrok - The Choice" by Zurik? It's a really beautiful video, I think you will like it :)
you are a beauty, Carly
Looks like we are raiding another disliker
Season 5 sucks without Ragnar.
No it's the best season

People keep telling you to watch Black Sails after you’re done with Vikings. Dont waste your time on that show. Its really boring. I love Vikings, GOT, TWD, Prison Break, Breaking Bad, etc.. but Black Sails is boring af!
Lies! Black Sails is great. :D
Dumpster Fire how? Its boring to me. No real battles, boring characters, boring time period, etc... I was always waiting for a big battle to happen but it never did..
@@alphawolf6736 I 100% AGREE WITH U
I agree. Main reason I dropped it
Of course I was joking but I liked it. It is okay to like and dislike the same things. :D Blind wave channel reacted to the whole show and they loved it and so did many of the commenters. It would not have gotten four season if everyone else thought it was shit. ;)
You say there were no battles and I say there was a lot of them. Sure many were smaller dozens of men fighting in ships etc... but there was a lot of fighting imo. The dialog was very different yes but I liked it and I like the time period. The characters were not boring at all. Captain Vane! :D
But you do you. Nothing wrong with that.
