I actually find this method of shading the artist used very clever. Select the area where the shadows appear, then use the gradient tool within the selection to create shadows! It is still the traditional cell shading used in anime, but the gradient effect just makes the shadows look much more detailed! I think I may try that in my next digital drawing!

do you mean by normal mouth with no cut in the center? well a lot there are anime that have cut in the mouth in the scene and then the cut desapear it's all about how the characters look and about the anime.. every anime

People who come from traditional art, acrylic and canvas or just simple pencil and paper, will find that using the Cintiq is much easier than an ordinary graphics tablet due to the tedious hand-eye coordination sequence. You could just settle for an Intuos if you really wish to move from traditional to digital but of course, they all wish they could get a Cintiq. Also this dude is awesome.

Fact is if you were only looking at the finished artwork you wouldn't know what they used at all. An artist uses the best tools for the particular job as they see fit. well, they are professionals so we can't do much about this... there is the intuos5 but you'll be sacrificing the eyes-on-paper feel that all of us artist are so used to.... still, its cheaper than the cintiq 24hd
What's the software used to create this drawings? I just got my Bamboo Pen&Touch a couple days ago and been PaintTool SAI for a while but am not used to the interface. This software looks more like PS so I think I'll be able to get familiar with it quicker
Wacom's pen tablets are able to control the pressure an artist puts on his pen when writing the strength of a brushstroke. And unlike ipad stylus, there are so many types of styluses. (which we can't use on iPad, because of the system they have.)
I bought a Cintiq after watching many of this videos and I'm NOT dissapointed! It's a lot better than my old Bamboo! But it's true that it doesn't make you draw any better that you would on a paper, it just gives you a more comfortable feeling while drawing because you look directly on the tablet instead of looking at your monitor.
Well I don't know what the deal is with Cintiq, but I'm getting a wacom tablet, soon :) and I can't wait to draw on it! I love watching these videos. Just goes to show, if you put years into drawing, there ya go. You can do it. Practice makes perfect..
What you're sayign is actually true. I'm an intermidiate digital artist, and I don't even have a Cintiq. I actually have an Intuos3 (which most artists my level and some/most upper level artists use.)
s/he is using a drawing soft "Clip Paint Studio Pro", and a painting tool is photoshop. s/he switches these soft by purposes. coz i'm a japanese, my english must be poor, sorry.

Would love to have it, but read some bad reviews about it. Not compatible with Windows 8.1, and it lags pretty bad with a large workload. Would love it for just hobby work, but the price is too high to do that. There are more important things.
That's /exactly/ why I want a cintiq, it's tough for me to look back at my tablet and back at my computer monitor, makes things easier ya know? I wish I had the money for it, then I would buy one...
