Your videos are fantastic..... clear concise and informative. I am subscribed to many ebay you tube channels - I love watching them and picking up new ideas - especially from across the pond (I am in Scotland). There are few coaching videos that discuss the actual business plan in the detail that you do. Many channels not at all. To put it simply - your videos are my favourites and superior (in my opinion) to channels that have many many thousands of subscribers. Thank you for taking the time putting these videos together, they are simply brilliant!
Thank you so much for the kind words Carolyn! That really means a lot to me because the entire reason why I started this channel was to help teach others. I used to be an elementary school teacher before I quit to sell on eBay full time. I miss teaching, and I use this as my avenue to continue to teach. That's fantastic that you're learning how to sell on eBay as well. I'm sure things are a little different in Scotland, but overall, there's so much you can learn about eBay on RUclips. RUclips is an amazing resource that wasn't even really around when I started selling on eBay. Thanks again for your support, and if there's ever anything that I can help with let me know! Best regards, Justin
I’m glad I didn’t toss my mom’s patches! She designed exotic dancer outfits and had some really cool ones. There’s one Harley patch that was a short run because Mobile threatened to sue over the use of their Pegasus. Hopefully I’ll find more!
I found some patches at an estate sell. 56 patches for 10 bucks. And I have sold more then half already and made of $300 it’s amazing. Now I just need to find more patches. Lol.
It’s crazy how well patches sell and how much money you can make. And they’re the perfect item to sell on eBay because you can store thousands of them without taking up hardly any space in your inventory. Plus, you don’t have to worry about them getting broken during shipping! Lol
Hi, I discovered your channel while researching the Ebay standard envelope, your video answered all my questions so here I am watching another video of yours and I'm now a subscriber. I'm new to Ebay selling (only since last October) I've seen other channel's, but your channel seems so much more user friendly if that makes sence. Thank you for your content and I'm looking forward to learning more from you to help me make my Ebay business a success story 😸
Thanks so much for the compliments! I don't know it all, but in my 11 years on eBay I've learned a lot. My intentions in starting this channel were to try to help others learn in their selling journey's. So, if there's ever anything that I can help with I'll do my best to assist! ~ Justin
What a great subject. Selling patches. Definitely tempted. Will have a look out for them when I next go to my local Charity Shop (Thrift stores in the USA)
I have to agree. I collect Law Enforcement patches and have hundreds of them from different departments. Other patches I sell all the time. Scouting are the most popular ones as well as motorcycle clubs.
I'm actually going to be setting this up by accident. I bought a bulk order from a certain company for band patches and this was for my battle jacket but now i have to sell a bunch of them i didnt like lol
I have a bunch of patches that were cut off my old police uniforms before I disposed of the uniform. Is there a market for duty worn patches? There are remnants of fabric still sewn on the fabric. I also cut out the patches that were directly embroidered. Is there a market for those? Thanks for the video.
I read that patches are now included to ship with eBay standard envelope. Do you put the patches in a sandwich baggie or something before placing in an envelope? Or would that make the envelope too thick or bumpy?
How do I find someone to buy in bulk my husbands large patch collection, about 8000 patches collected since the 60’s. Sold all the Boy Scout but lots of police, some military, misc. left ??
Good point. What I forgot to mention, is whenever I have a rare patch I don’t start the auction off at .99. I’ll typically set a high auction starting price (or what I would be happy with if it were to sell in a buy it now scenario). Then if it goes for more than what I priced it at its icing on the cake. If not, I release it after the auction ends at the auction starting price and activate best offer. . It may not work for everyone, but I’ve had bidding wars happen even at high auction starting points. I hope this makes sense
Justin, I've thought of selling patches, but I dont really understand who would want them, except perhaps for collectors. Because if a person, for instance, works for a security firm, wouldn't the company furnish uniforms with patches already on them?
Thanks! There almost nothing more simple to sell than patches. They’re so easy to list, store, and ship. Postcards are great to sell too. I’m a big fan of selling smalls. Doing so really helps boost your active inventory, and just because items are small doesn’t mean they always sell for small amounts!
Curious...when you mail a patch in a regular envelope with a stamp do you add some sort of padding (ie. paper or tissue paper)? I think my post office would question the bumpiness of it and I would have to add more postage to it.
Do you have a separate ebay account for selling patches? I've read that ebay will ding your account if you sell to many things without tracking, so some make separate accounts in order to keep there seller status good. Thank you!
Great video Coach. I don't know if I would want to ship patches in a plain white envelope though. As you stated, first class letter rate mail (where you affix a stamp), has no tracking. You would have no proof that the customer even received it unless they left you positive feedback. I think I would rather charge for shipping and send it 1st class parcel package. That way at least you have USPS tracking to prove it got there safely and was delivered.
You’re exactly right. There’s no proof of delivery with a stamp. That’s why I never ship pricey patches with stamps. That being said, the cheep patches that I have sent with stamps I’ve never really had any issues with. By and large, almost every customer I’ve ever had has been honest as well and haven’t claimed it wasn’t delivered. But, you are absolutely right in that you can charge customers for shipping and always in the first class. I’m hoping that eventually Ebay will adopt patches into the standard envelope program. I use it all of the time for mailing postcards and stamps, and it’s an awesome shipping method that includes tracking and it’s cheaper than a postage stamp. Fingers crossed that Ebay will allow mailing patches with the standard envelope someday.
@@CoachCommerce Well, don't hold your breath on that. (LOL) Unfortunately, patches have a thickness to them and since the ESE system runs through the USPS high speed machines, and need to be perfectly flat (with no raised bumps or anything) in order to get scanned properly, I'm not sure something like that would even be feasible. But, who knows? It would be nice though.
@@CoachCommerce what would be your price cut off for sending a patch PWE vs 1st class parcel? I'm curious! I'm with you on the ebay standard envelope. They at LEAST need to add stickers and decals. That one is too easy!
Wow great info so interesting....one question: if using only a regular postage stamp - can u buy and print from your ebay account or do u simply have stamps at your disposal?
Great question. Unfortunately ebay doesn’t have a shipping option for stamp postage. I just buy a book or roll of forever stamps whenever I’m at my local post office and use them when needed. Then I just mark the sale as “shipped” on eBay to let eBay know that it has been shipped.
@@CoachCommerce I just recently did this, but can't figure out how to get Ebay to release the funds. They are on hold because there was no tracking number.
So i have been also adding patches to my ebay store and I have been shipping my low value patches with just a basic envelope and stamp. Unfortunately ebay said my ontime tracking percentage is to low do to shipping patches with a envelope and stamp. Does anyone know how to get around this because no one is going to buy a $5 patch with $5 shipping.
Hey Justin, I am really going to have to seriously, find some good patches. Thank you for explaining the process, from finding to packaging. Did you say you mostly sell in bulk or mostly singles?
Hey Tracee! Sorry I'm a few days late in getting back to you. I sell all of my patches individually. They really are quick to list, and you can make good money once you get the "eye" for the types of patches that sell well. I'm sure there's money to be made selling them in bulk groups, but I've had the most success selling them as singles. Good luck hunting for them, as that's the most fun part about reselling! ~ Justin
Hi Guy, I collect Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta Patches. I am looking for more recent years. I have some to trade. Do you have any AIBF patches to sell?
Excellent video but your timing is spooky. Just a few days ago, Mr. Old Punk and I found a garment, at a bin store, that had NASA patches all over it. I wanted it for the patches but there was a miscommunication and it got left behind. Its been driving me crazy!
Oh man! I always hate it when that happens. It’s the worst when you have remorse for something that you should’ve bought. I can think of a bunch of things over the years that I kick myself for not purchasing. But, with that being said, anytime I’ve seen something like that in the future…I always make sure to grab it!
So I have a question for anyone who can help me...if you send a low dollar patch without tracking, how can you get ebay to release the funds if they do not know that the customer received the item?
That could be a good price. It really honestly depends on the patches. It’s not uncommon for me to find police and fire department patches that sell in the $15-$30 range. But, you’ll also find some of fun the more common ones sell in the $5-$15 range. Most of the patches that I buy the flea market I spent only a dollar so on so that’s pretty much in a ballpark of what I’d be willing to spend on a patch. There’s really no reason to spend much more than two dollars on a patch because you’ll be able to find them in a dollar or under range if you keep looking.
Holy smokes, that's amazing! I've sold numerous patches in the 100$ plus range but never one that expensive. They're out there though! Congrats on that amazing sale and thanks for sharing.
@@adamwillers6251 If you sell enough items without adding tracking, your seller % will decrease, thereby putting your account at risk. But you'd have to sell a lot.
