Hi mastahswordz, Not sure why you would want to do this for this chart, but the simplest way would be to change the titles of the months to include the date, ie: change "January" to "1st January". Dr E.
Thanks for this... just to note - in Excel 2010, it will select the X axis automatically. So you will get a completely different result if you select up to the column March in your example from if you selected up to April.
Hi Dr. E, I was trying to follow our instruction to create the bar chart that I desire. However, the end result is not what I wanted. I wanted to have 2 bar chart lay out, with the first one called the Project Run Time and it spans from month 0 - month 12 (this is the easy part) and the second bar called Project Breakdown where I listed out the different stage, Start, Planning, Executing, Monitoring and Closing.

I will have different month span for different stage, and want them to end up stacking up on each other which total equals 12 months (equivalent to the first bar) This has given me immense amount of trouble, would you be possible to identify how I could achieve such task? Regards, Dr. E
How do I construct a chart that has 3 data sets in one bar chart, but lets say that the data set is as follow 100%blue, 74%red and 17% black how do I get the bar to show on the axis a max value of 100% with the 74% and 17% showing in the bar chart and not give me a total of 191% like a normal stacked chart??

Try putting percentage values in your cells (make sure they are formatted as "percentage").
