I've got this car, with a larger crank pulley and a tune. It's a beast! The only gripe is I have a knock in the front right. Changed out all the usual suspects except for the strut. I'm scared it's going to be the strut.
@@keijokojootti7790 Possibly that second small battery runs the instruments? I know with newer VAG Euros the ECU has to be coded so that charging currents are properly regulated. If not done, a new battery can be ruined very quickly.
The car was being molested when u walked in to that garage 🤣. That car must be so happy for seeing a real mechanic. Just keep the car in ur garage never give it back 😀
Next time If u plan to store the car, make sure u disconnect the 🔋and when ur ready to put it back on the road have it charged in a mechanic shop make sure its good to go ✌
On this car CLS car it is a bad idea, cause the small battery will need to handle all the load, and if you disconnect the small one, you get lost configurations all over the place: windows and radio at least. not sure what else.
It's such a waste to allow the battery to get so low and damage itself , I have been using small solar panels to maintain unused cars, tractors and lawnmowers over the winter , which means that I've had some batteries for over 10 years before needing to replace them .
Lol im still waiting for you to introduce steffan in the beginning of your videos. Kinda seems like he's waiting for you to mention him as well. I know you did on the first vid he showed up, but not mentioning him comes off kinda rude imo. No hate tho, still love your videos
Well you heard what he said. If the battery voltage is really low idk how you would be able to start a v8 but aight. Kinda surprised too it wouldnt be able to handle it since it doesnt matter how little juice the charging device (in this case altenator) provides. I can hook up a battery charger to an 8v battery and it wont blow the charger either so honestly no clue xD
@@anidiotinaracingcar yeah but like i said thats not how electricity works :D Ofc theres a likelyhood that it was already pretty much done and that ended its life span
Poor CLS55! I'd suggest everyone always keep a battery charger hooked to a battery. This car is like a computer on wheels and eventually it can ruin your brand new battery if you park it for a while. I'm glad my CLS55r is still doing great (knock-knock on wood). Here's mine: ruclips.net/video/KeVPYdfSYaA/видео.html
killing and alternator with a flat battery? Wtf? Did that with my cars, maybe like 20 times or more in my life. Never killed an alternator. Mercedes reliability?
He mentioned the charger got hot with the bad battery, maybe it was causing issues. Normally alternators do not have current limit itself. The current is "limited" by the wire resistance from alternator to battery, but if the battery is not that high in voltage, then it cause damages. Battery voltage showed ~10V, like if one cell was short circuited, that means tons of current. Short circuited cell is not the normal failure, normally they fail with increased resistance.
Love this series. So much talent!
That's the smallest wrench he could find to spin the ball joint tool... And he got it done!
Is the owner of the cls your brother? you guys sound very much alike. Love the videos!
I do wish you were here in the states. I love your work!
Oh! That CLS 55 amg deserves best restoration back on the road!!!
The good old hot wrench! Such a helpful tool. (A.k.a. the torch)
Also, thank you for wearing saftey glasses when pressing in the new ball joint.
Great video as usual.
Looking forward to you wiring in the Haltech ecu, please try and include as much detail as you can. 👍

Love your videos. Can you show us how you change supercharger oil??? Please
The price you quoted me for the engine swap (E63) on on my E class. Did that include the parts?
I think u should reach out to him via phone or mail, not yt comments lol
Always enjoy the contents of your videos!
I need a complete M113k engine but they are getting hard to find! Anyone have any ideas or sources? Need help!
I'm surprised you didn't have to code the new battery into the ECU so it could regulate charge voltage. 13.8 seemed too low.
Instrument cluster doesn't show same voltage as what battery have for some reason.

14.4 is maximum, 13.6 is minimum. Anywhere in between is good. Could be a voltage drop in the old wiring or just not a good sensor
@@1one3_Racing It's AGM battery so it should be 14.6-14.8 V
code is required if AGM battery is replaced with regular battery
Great video 👍 The things you do for mate's.
Is that a OEM coil? the yellow one
Is Stefane a part of XF Motorsport now? For ever?
deboss crossover?
Put on bigger exchangers and fixed pulley. And a hood intercooler tank.
Once the battery go low it gains a ecm code that prevents ecm to send live to alternator to perform it job
But why tho
Was this car in an accident earlier this year?

Before u change the alternator clear the code from the ecm
I wanna go to ontario and meet him please help me
I love that gen CLS
They are alot of fun…i have a 2009 cls550 and its like a 4 door vette

@@ikocheratcr The small battery under the engine bay is strictly a backup for the SBC system, it does not do anything else.
While those c clamps usually work, I find $20/30 to a machine shop doing it for me is much easier
Money well spent! If a C-Clamp style ball joint tool slips or fails, it is chaos. Besides it's just an annoying pain in the butt.
You better start a course on vehicle dynamics. I'd be ready to pay 100$ .
