Thanks for the comment, glad that it works. There are a lot of OpenWRT tutorials on the channel, feel free to check it out here ruclips.net/p/PL58__w3t_eTbcBQ9oJ8jXCxPtBiac59vC
Thanks for the comment. OpenWRT is an open source and it is free to use, so surely there is no paid here. I am just sharing the knowledge and hope to expand the community. There is small revenue I got from RUclips, which is used to purchasing new hardware/router.
I wouldn't leave a guest wifi network without security, unless you don't mind your neighbors leaching off your internet. Otherwise great video, thanks! I feel much better having my phone and other devices I do not control on an isolated network using a router I somewhat trust. My advice to others as a next step: Buy and install a Netgate firewall. Also, if you need to access stuff in your house using your phone remotely, set up OpenVPN.
Hello! Thanks for the video. In my case the DHCP server was listing _only_ in the br-lan interface so no device was able to connect to the guest Wi-Fi. If anyone else has trouble getting an IP address, first check your firewall rules and also Network -> DHCP and DNS -> listing interfaces. HTH.
Thank you very much, it worked perfectly! The CLI tutorial for guest wifi on OpenWRT Wiki, the one you also have in the description, didn't work form me. Any idea why? I bet it would be helpful to understand the issue there.
I have openwrt with built in lan (Internet) built-in wifi (disabled) and a RA Link usb wifi for clients in AP mode. What do I need to configure in firewall to allow everyone on (RALink) Wifi to connect to internet through LAN interface which is connected to Wifi?
Hi, with openwrt v21 this tut is working normal, but new version like v22 and v23, guest wifi got no internet connection Can you please make new tut for new version. Thank you so much!
Thanks for this video. My new guest VLAN isn't connecting to internet and I'm struggling to see what settings could be wrong. I'm using openWRT 21.02.1 so some of the layout is slightly different, but I thought I'd followed your steps exactly! I'm a noob so definitely could be get something quite basic wrong. DHCP server is definitely created for the guest interface. Does anyone have any other suggestions of what could be wrong?
Thanks for the video. I need your help about one configuration. On my openwrt router I'm using OPENVPN with kill switch enabled, I have one ssid, all the traffic goes only trough the VPN tunnel. What I have to do now is to create another ssid that will not use the VPN Tunnel but the normal internet provided by my ISP. Do you know how can I do that ? Thanks
Thank u I've watched a lot of your videos, good work! I have a trouble with OpenWRT which I need time/speed control over the DHCP clients by MAC address, I tried firewall but not worked well. Like I need to limit certain devices to have access only between certain time with speed limits. Do you consider make a video like that? Best Wishes!
@@VanTechCorner Have set up like this. But it only work when i set it but when the ruter is restarted it's not working. Kind a strange. Edit: Sleep 10 after boot and then i start the script again and it works as a charm✌️
Hmm, something is not right. Can you share the dhcp, network and wireless file which are located in /etc/config, please share this in the group Van Tech Corner & Friends and we will try to troubleshoot it.
I had spent hours trying to configure my guest network on OpenWRT and kept having issues. Got it working in minutes with this, thank you!!

How do I get to the group?
Does it make a difference if the router I’m using isn’t the primary router but a secondary router?
