Realizing the stakes are no longer just for survival, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) teams up with her closest friends, including Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), Gale (Liam Hemsworth) and Finnick for the ultimate mission. @@A.D.540 I dont think thats the case especially after the prequal book. More like he was slightly irritated with himself that he let his obsession over something once again cause a blind spot. He knew he was going to lose he knew he would surrender however coin made it all but impossible for him to get away with his crimes she wasnt going to let him barter for his life so she made sure that his last allies (capitol) turned on him she wanted complete victory before she took control. I also think he did not grasp it until she did the bombing. Coin was going to be just as bad as Snow, because she was going to keep the games going, eventually she would of pushed the distracts that spoke against her into them as well.
