    One of the most educational electronic wiring videos I have seen on YT in years, very clearly and simply presented, outstanding!

    Worth mentioning for anyone looking at the parts in the description: All Electronics went out of business in 2023, but from those ashes spawned a company called AREtronics which carries all of the hardware described in this video with the same part numbers.

    This is exactly the information I need to move ahead with my tiny layout (4' x 8') with ten turnouts. I'm following the articles in your Electronics Projects book for my control panel. I am not using the Switch 8, just the toggle switches, but have been looking for a surer way to make sure the LEDs are wired correctly. This video, and I expect the next one, are just what I need for the details. I just ordered some jumpers with insulated alligators from All Electronics- I'd been shopping on the wrong hardware sites; thanks for that tip.

    Larry I am setting up my crossover lights. All four lights lite up have a battery holder similar to yours. two AA batteries works great for testing. My problem is I can not figure out the cross over wire setup the video is not clear enough to see all the leads from the LEDS can you get a close up of a cross over setup Thanks Tom

    Clip leads are like socks. They seem to disappear one by one.

    The parts list does not include the lighted LED pushbuttons used on the yard tracks on the big panel. What is source and part number for those buttons?

      Ted-those are LP1OA1AG and I got them from Mouser. The last character “G” is for green but could be “R” for red etc. so you need to look over the listings.

    Larry, You had mentioned a list of the various parts you have described in these great articles. I can't locate the list. How can I locate it on the site? Thank you.

      Check the description for the video in question. That is where I and most RUclips creators put stuff like that.

    Rewatching this series, had one question on this particular video. Is it the same if use toggle switches vice push buttons? ie still need mini jumper etc? Thx!

    Question: Why is it not necessary to use resistors when connecting the LED Diodes

    • @TheDCCGuy
      @TheDCCGuy  3 года назад

      Because the Tortoises only draw about 20 milliamps and that is what it takes to light an LED.

      @@TheDCCGuy hi Larry im still puzzled if the LEDs are 3v dc then surely the 12v required to run the switch sould blow the LED cheers Darryl from south Australia

      @@darrylellis1495 That’s just the magic of LEDs and electronics, and it works. For the in-depth details you’ll need to talk to an electrical engineer, which I am not.
