  • Cordell & Cordell Executive/Managing Partner, CEO Scott Trout and Fayetteville divorce attorney Nicholas Granade discuss strategies divorcing men can utilize to minimize their exposure to alimony.
The process for determining alimony can vary widely from state to state and because so many of the factors are subjective many men end up paying more than they can afford. Mr. Trout and Mr. Granade explain how a court calculates alimony payments and what guys can do to make sure their payments aren't larger than they need to be.

Lesson learned: don't get married and you won't be in a position where you are paying "spousal support" to a cheater.

BEWARE! This firm misrepresented me during my divorce. My attorney was inexperienced, failed miserably, and ultimately withdrew from my case and quit the firm. Joe Cordell does not respond to complaints and completely ignores issues with his employees. Not a partner you can count on...

May i Ask if the X wife implements the divorce and then remarries. Does this exonerate the x husband from paying alimony???

Usually yes but you have to think if a woman is making ridiculous tax free money from a wealthy or good earning x why would she get married if she can just date her new guy make the alimony per year and work a job as well

@@jameslaiola4976 now i say look at state laws cause some may say you only pay alimony for half as long as youre married but courts make their own decisions so its best to either not get married or be smart about what state or country you get married in and see what their divorce laws and prenup/postnup stances are

The ONLY fair thing is maybe pay for two years while Mrs. Lazy-Ass goes to junior college and learns a trade. UNLESS she helped her husband pay for HIS education. Then it should be tit-for-tat. Other factors should at least figure in--was she a pig of a housekeeper,? Did she ever cook? Or just order fast food? Did she party and irresponsibly spend his money, the money he worked hard for? Did sh put any effort into being a good, equal partner? I am a woman, and this is how I feel. I despise woman who are lazy and just use a man for his money, and then have the nerve to DEMAND he support them.

Sooo, any thoughts on MR. Lazy-ass, doing what he does best. Nearly nothing? Did he deposit his paycheck in a joint checking account, even 😊if he has another individual account, where they both shared their money as life and love partners, husband and wife? Did he leave dirty laundry and dishes all over the house? Lazy doesn't apply to only one gender and as a woman, I despise attitudes that minimize the work that's entailed in managing a household and/or caring for children.
Any man in a committed relationship that considers earnings as HIS money that his wife can use sparingly and only with his approval should just live alone so he can keep the misery to himself.
