Way cool a real Native movie. I met Wes Studi years ago, at a fund raiser for TMAWS. He turned out to be shorter than I anticipated. Oh well. Good actor, respect!
Wonderful Indie film. You'd have to go 3 generations back to see how this contemporary family was still affected by the boarding school experience. They didn't know their true last name because grandpa had been stripped of his Cherokee name. Today's tragedies are shaped by yesterday's brutalities. Cast was fine & the music by the Randall family is outstanding and fits the story perfectly. Wes Studi brought me to it, so thanks to Wes for his wonderful acting.
This was an excellent film. My Cherokee cousin, Wes Studi was earnest and true to his character. The young woman who played Flutie was perfect in her role as was the young man who played her brother Franklin. Diane Glancy who wrote and directed this film has a unique voice and perspective, she deserves to have bigger budgets to work with for upcoming projects. I will be recommending this movie to family members and friends. It should get more recognition. It was great to see Wes Studi in a role playing a contemporary person. We Cherokees have a unique ability to become anything we choose.
I'm a huge fan of Wes Studi!!! It would be awesome to have as a dad. Don't ever stop being who you are Wes...I wish I could meet. Love you Wes. Thanks again for being my Hero actor. I'm also a big fan of Graham Greene, Adam Beach, Eric Schweig, and many more Native Americans....
Thank you for this upload. The music is so melancholic and is perfect for this story. We, never know what families are going through and what problems they have to face each day,
I’d like to see this movie again!!! Very good and very well done!! Love Wes Studie, in it, and all the other actors/actresses!!! You all did a great job, want to thank you very much for this!! Love, Sister Gay Michaelis ❤️😇👍🩷🌽🙏🤟🌰🪻🤗
For those who are wondering what Ilse said in German 04:55 you both are driving me crazy! 37:54 this is your fault! 54:45 you're driving me crazy! 54:50 we will see! Nice film!!!
I love this man, such a natural talent, and I love his Cherokee lineage. I've a little but it doesnt show through my Irish. DNA validated the Family Lineage story. There's quite a large % of Tennesseans with at least 3 generations or more in Tennessee, that have Great Grandparents that were Cherokee, my Great Grandmother was half or more. There's so much History in this Country that emerging now. DNA is helping to validate Oral Histories. Best Thoughts ... Beth Bartlett Sociologist/Behavioralist and Historian

A beautiful, tender story and the film was well crafted. Very nostalgic for me as my mama's people are from OK, not far from Ponca City.
