- When Catholics call Mary their mother, it may seem like they are taking away some of the respect due to Jesus and giving it to Mary. This is far from the case. Fr. Mike points out two reasons why calling Mary our mother can improve our relationship with Christ, and strengthen our faith life.
1. Loving the people Jesus loves helps you love him more. The more you love Mary the more you love God.
2. Jesus gave Mary to us as our Mother on the Cross.
“When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing near, he said to his mother, ‘Woman, behold, your son!’ Then he said to the disciple, ‘Behold, your mother!’ And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home” (John 19:26-27).

Please be praying for me. I am protestant. Recently I miscarried and as I cried and prayed, in pain over not having a mother to call and comfort me..I had an unexplainable experience...not a vision but a glimpse, a sweeping blanket of comfort over my heart and God speaking into my soul that I DO have a mother and In my mind Mother Mary appeared. I will admit, I was not just shocked but almost afraid...I haven't known what to do with this, but ever since I have been watching videos like this to make sense of it.

Like Mary you know the pain of losing a child. The cry of your heart is something you share in common with Mary. Her love has no bounds and she knows what your broken heart feels like for she has lived your pain.
And through her pain Christ also understands the human loss of your child. The king of king and the queen of queens both weep for you.
And one day of you stay on the narrow path, when the time has come you will open your eyes in heaven and little arms will be waiting for you. And your lifetime of tears of sadness will be replaced with tears of joy and you are reunited in front of the royal family when more love than your heart can bear will fill your soul to bursting.
To honor the mother is to honor the son, for she is part of him and he is part of her. She was an essential part of God’s plan, all of humanities salvation depended on her freely accepting to be a part of God’s plan. Where Eve fell into temptation and disobedience… Mary a mother … one of us but better than any of us for she always obeyed.
Mary who sits on a throne beside her son, like all Davidic kings since Solomon who ruled their kingdom with their mother beside them.

I am so sorry for the loss of your precious baby. How beautiful that you experienced comfort from our dear mother, Mary.
We know that our savior was perfect in doing God's will, so He would have been perfect in honouring His mother, as the commandments ask us to do.
Therefore, do not be afraid to honour Mary, for in honoring Mary, you imitate Christ in honouring His mother.
Mary does not want glory for herself, she desires the glory of God, and will always point you to her Son, our savior.

I have found that humans have no issue in idolizing celebrities and sports figures however as Catholic I'm judged for saying the Hail Mary and having statues in my home. I pray to Mary because I do not have a mother to talk to and I feel so lucky that Mary had always been there. She has filled me with grace more than times than I can count.

So beautiful! I am a Catholic who converted from Protestanism, and "discovered" Mary. Her intercession is incredibly real, and I have experienced her love for me in my life so many times, in different circumstances. I am so thankful to Jesus that I had a wonderful life as a Protestant, but Mary indeed makes a DIFFERENCE. She crushed the head of Satan and helps us get closer to God. Yes, Jesus is the only mediator but Mary is the only Mother of God! And it's completely not idolatry to ask for her help (Wedding at Cana, visiting Elizabeth, etc.). We are so blessed by her presence in our lives!

@@TurdFerguson217 The key to explaining verses like Matthew 13:55 is understanding the Greek word for “brethren” (adelphoi) and its feminine counterpart (adelphe). If the Greek words used in this passage connote only siblings, then the Catholic dogma of Mary’s perpetual virginity is false.
However, the word adelphoi has a much broader meaning. It may refer to male relatives that one is not a descendant of and that are not descendant from one (such as a blood brother, step-brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, etc.) or non-relatives such as neighbors, fellow workers, co-religionists, and friends.
Because of this broad usage, we can be sure that the 120 “brothers” in Acts 1:15 did not have the same mother. Neither did Lot and his uncle Abraham, who were called “brothers” (Gen. 11:26-28, 29:15).
The reason relatives were called brothers or sisters was because in Hebrew, there was no word for cousin, nephew, or uncle. So the person was referred to as simply a “brother.” Linguistically, this was far easier than calling the person the son of a mother’s sister. Since the New Testament was written in a dialect of Greek that was heavily influenced by the Semitic culture, many of the Hebrew idioms (like “brother” having multiple meanings) intrude into the Greek text. So, the fact that Jesus had adelphoi does not mean that Mary had other children.

So I’m done folks. The scriptures are not locked away anymore by any “churches” nor are they chained to anyone so you can’t read them. If I agree with what you say, brother and sister can be elder or younger. So if Jesus could have had elder brother and sister too. In that case, Jesus wouldn't be a virgin's son and therefore can't be God, can't be Messiah.

I am a Protestant who loves Mary. It would take many pages to relate all she has done for me. At a time in my life that I. Felt unworthy to approach the throne of Christ, I found Mary. Her unconditional love was the love of my earthly Mother. I do not have the words to express how much she has come to mean to me. It is a real relationship. I feel her and see her working to help me and bless me. I just cannot begin to tell all of you all that she has done for me. I love her so much it almost hurts. The miracles of my Blessed Mother have been real, bigger than life. Please believe that she can and wants to love and help us all. Everything taught about Mary I have found to be true.

With Mary is separate. It is no different than having a special relationship with an elder in the church. I am a recovering alcoholic who was too ashamed to approach Jesus for forgiveness. Mary was my “higher power” in the beginning until I could inculcate Christ’s forgiveness and resume my relationship as Savior to the saved. My post said this. You may not believe that my spiritual experience was real. I do. Thank you for your concern. But, I believe that Jesus is the Way. My relationship with Mary is like and mother child. I had a great mother but she is dead. Mary helps me and reminds me that despite my sin, Jesus forgives and I can be a good person and a good Christian. I don’t really understand why you felt the need to comment on my post. If you have different beliefs, why even watch this video. Were you doing it for Christ’s glory or to condemn others? If you did, I believe you did so for your own glory, not that of Christ. But, I personally believe that you felt you had something that could help another person, for that I am grateful. I do not understand how Mary can be aware of anything about humans presently living on earth. She is fully human, not God. God has closed the eyes of those humans who have died and now reside with God in heaven to protect them from the sadness and evil that exists on earth. So unless God altered Mary’s essential being and gave her attributes different from other human beings, how can she see what is happening on earth? Thank you for your answers.

@@fireandgrace9456 What you probably heard in your ignorance was the Exsultet during the lighting of the Easter candle indicating the coming of Christ, where it is sung, "May this flame be found still burning by the Morning Star: the one Morning star who never sets, Christ your Son...", which of course is a reference to 2 Peter 1:19 or Rev. 2:26, 28, and ultimately Rev. 22:16. In latin, Morning Star, or Day Star, is "lucifer", a compound word from lux(light) and ferre, (to bring).
All you had to do was a quick google translate of the word, but instead you chose to wallow in your ignorance.

Marcus Chung Exactly! Mary was the first of all believers; and in devotion to Jesus’ blessed mother, we are delivered to Him and grow in our relationship with Him.
Even the holy angel, Gabriel, showed us how loved Mary is by God: “Hail, thou that art highly favored, the lord is with thee: Blessed are you among woman!” (Luke 1:28 KJV)
Another excellent illustration of how mother Mary brings us closer to Jesus is found in Luke when Mary visits her cousin, Elisebeth, who is pregnant with John. When Mary arrived, pregnant with Jesus, Elizabeth greeted her elatedly: “Blessed are you among woman! And blessed is the fruit of thy womb!” And John, whom she was pregnant with, leapt in the womb filled, as a Elisebeth was, with the Holy Spirit. Don’t be afraid to love Mary! This really helped me understand Mary more than i did. I have a very strong desire to convert but I have no priest no parish and no current way to travel. So I have taken it upon my own to teach myself as much as I can. thank you for this. Hopefully one day soon I will have the means but until then this really helps.
You know as Catholics we can only direct others to the Water. And even take some there. But if one chooses not to drink then, how sad. Like any Kingdom we've known the King rules, but we do not withdraw from the rest of his family. We'd honor his mother as well. When I hear someone insult Mary, our Mother, I tell them if someone insulted my mother like that, they would not be invited to come into my home. I wonder if Jesus doesn't feel the same way. After all, the commandment says, "honor thy father and thy mother".

Romans 8:34 Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died, more than that. Who was raised who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceeding for us.
Mary or any other saint being an intercessor is Papist false teaching. There is one intercessor and one mediator Jesus Christ. Mary has no authority and no intercession power.
1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God and there is ONE mediator between God and men. The man Jesus Christ.
An intercessor pleads and a mediator guarantees. Both are the done by the work of Christ.

I am not Catholic but I’ve been going through major spiritual warfare. All of it leading me to our Heavenly Father… one day I was being tormented so bad I ended up in a Catholic Church. No one was inside so I was able to have a meltdown and cry in front of Jesus… when I was done crying I got up and wandered around the church looking at the beautiful stained class and I saw a statue of Mary in the corner with the kneeling bar. I knelt in front of her and I said I don’t know you and you don’t know me but can you please help me? Shortly after that I started feeling like she was my mother ❤
👍you may not have known her, but she knows you. She calls us to herself that, in a way only a mother can, she may show us her Divine Son more perfectly.

Mary wraps our prayers perfectly and presents them to Jesus interceding for us just as she intervened at the wedding in Cana.
I have called on Mother Mary just as the Protestants call on Jesus and she is fierce powerful. Just as she protected Jesus as a baby she protects us too and bring us to Jesus.
Never was it know that anyone who fled to the protection of Mary implored thy help or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Our beautiful mother is co-redemtrix and mediatrix of all graces.

What a special woman to have had the closeness of her Savior in her womb. When I was pregnant for my two children, I knew they were a miracles. I cannot imagine how she must have felt with Baby Jesus.

salvation4all How is speaking to his family honoring them? I totally agree with Jesus that we are His brothers and sisters and He made an amazing point. Jesus did not deny they were His family, He was saying we are all His family which is amazing.
Let's see what Jesus thinks of his mother: {While Jesus was still speaking to the crowds, His mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to Him. Someone told Him, “Look, Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to You.”

Jesus *never* said that Mary should receive any more honor than anyone else! Anyone who does God's will is equal with Mary.

Growing up Protestant, I was raised to be suspicious of Catholics for their worship of Mary. But I have done some thinking of my own since then. I have had a great deal of respect for Mary for her willingness to go along with God's plan. Lately, I have been exploring Catholicism. We Catholics never adore the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Adoration, called “latria” in Latin is reserved for the triune God alone. We do not worship or adore Mary because she is not God.
Instead, all of the angels and saints are given “dulia” which is veneration or respect.
In Mary’s case, because she is the Mother of Our Lord, she is given “hyperdulia” which is the highest respect of all of the saints.
I am a certified diocesan Catechist with many years of experience in teaching catechesis and the status of the Blessed Virgin is a very common topic for discussion.

The wife of a king was a fairly lowly position, but the mother of the king was exalted. She had her own throne. She interceded with requests that he would grant. Mother Mary interceded during the wedding at Cana by bringing the concern about the wine to Jesus. We believe as the mother of Jesus she is the Queen Mother, just like Bathsheeba. And Revelation depicts a woman in heaven crowned with the stars.

People tend to forget that it's from the Blessed Virgin Mary that Christ assumed His Human Nature from in which through her Christ is a descendant of Adam.

Recently i’ve felt myself drawn to the catholic church for the first time. But the status of Mary is probably the single biggest stumbling block. Thank you Father Mike for explaining some things here. Praying God will continue enlightening me on this topic.
She is always the biggest stumbling block, because she is the greatest treasure/gift of the faith, and the one the devil most wants you to stay away from. he will sow doubt as much as he can to stop people from turning to Our Lords own chosen and created Mother. It is by the heal of this Jewish girl’s yes/fiat that the devil will experience his ultimate humiliation and defeat. If the devil loses to God he can still hold on to his pride, but if he loses to a little human servant girl of Our Lord, well then he cannot even keep his pride.
Something that helped me with Mary was actually the passage where the Lord talks about blaspheming the Holy Spirit. He says that to the pharisees because they saw all of Jesus' miracles but still refused to believe. And the miracles they saw were healing miracles. The Lord said that a house divided can't stand, and so satan can't heal. In fact, from all the prophets, only Jesus could heal lepers. So, the fruit you can recognise as God's fruit is true, complete healing. Mary has more miracles of healing than i can count, but the hospital near the place of our lady of lourdes, who tested all the claims of healing and only accepted those who could prove with medical records previous illnesses, that had instant or near instant complete healing at lourdes and who's disease was inccurable by current medical expertise were accounted around 7000 confirmed cases. Satan can perform miracles, but not healing, as Jesus said. So, if our prayers to Mary don't go to demons as some denominations say, then God is healing, and Mary is passing the prayers she receives, and she can only do that by God's grace, since humans have no power apart from God given gifts of Heavenly grace. Where in scripture does it support this thought? I read just the opposite... Act 17:11 says to bring what is said in the light of scripture to see if what is being said is true. Also, test the spirits to see if what is being said is from God. 1 Jn 4:1. I read in scripture call no one Father or teacher. Matt 23:9 we are all equal brethren. We are all Saints who put their faith in Jesus. The Pharisees and scribes were putting themselves over people like they know best and changing the Bible with multiple extra rules, in reality they were the evil ones. Jesus said the brethren have one Father in heaven. Scripture is very clear in saying not to add to it or take away from it in Rev. 22:19 & Duet 12:32, Prov 30:6.
Prayer to the saints is nothing but asking saints to pray to God and intercede before Christ for us just like we praying for each other. Prayer is mot worship but simply asking. we pray in and through Christ not apart from him.
Saint and us are apart of the body therefore we are not separate.

My mother died when I was five years old. I just recently lost my father a few days ago. I don't think I've experienced what it is like to have a mother in that sense. Going to pray on it and see what comes from it. A part of my mental health prevents me from accepting love or that I am unworthy of love. At least that is what I think. Perhaps there is something in there that I am missing. Thank you for the clarification. It's been almost a month since I've renewed my faith. Now for some deep inner reflection. ❤😇💥

in Jewish culture there is a king and queen. The queen is always the mother of the king. Solomon is a great example. They have to go through her to reach him. Hello, I was raised Catholic all my life and attended mass but I always felt empty and wondered why God couldn't speak to me like He did to other people in the Bible. So I started to study the Bible and pray asking God to guide me. And I came to find the truth from God and that is only Jesus Christ is the only way to God. There is no such thing as Mary's intercessions or saints, purgatory or confession to priests. If you are searching for truth with your honest heart allow God to lead you and not man, because man errors many times Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

Great representation about Mother Mary! I'm an ex-Muslim now born-again Christian. Studied in a Catholic school. I don't agree with everything you said. But you've given the best explanation so far. You took one verse in to consideration but what about the verse where Jesus said whoever does the will of My Father are my mothers, brothers and sisters. And with the verse you shared, it can be contextual to the 5th commandment of honoring your father and mother. Jesus didn't want to leave Mary without a son's love and knowing that John loved Jesus and would live longer than any other disciple (and the fact that John was the only one standing at the crucifixion), Jesus knew that John will be a good son to Mary. He knew John would take her to be his own due to the love he had for Christ. By the logic that was used, John should've been the first Pope of Catholics then.
Anyway I'm not trying to offend anyone. All I'm saying is Jesus has sent us a comforter and guide in the form of the Holy Spirit who lives inside of us, to remind us , to guide into all Truth who groans and prays on our behalf. He is the one who needs to be leaned for help

Nope. Disagree on this one, though I agree with Father Mike on a lot. Reading John, I don't get the impression that Jesus is giving Mary as a mother to all, rather if you read the text yourself it is saying that John took Mary into his home and cared for her.
The Gospel of John is a philosophical gospel. Mark is the one focused on being historical.

The big confusion here is Mary was Jesus earthly mother. He does not have a spiritual mother. In the verse in John when he says behold your mother he is obviously talking about earthly Mother.

It is impossible to want to suffer. At best, it is an unpleasant means to an end. But Christ suffered over a period of time. Therefore he immediately wanted something that he hadn't the power to obtain. Where is the Second Person? The dual nature is almost as complicated as the Trinity.
Our example lies in the Wedding Feast at Cana: The servants went to Mary, Mary went to Jesus, Jesus said "My hour has not yet come", but a Mother knows her own Son so she said to the servants, "Do whatever He tells you." Her trust in Him was absolute. It was not misplaced. He responded to His Mother. Therefore we can also go to Mary and she will take our requests to Jesus, who will respond to His Mother just as He did at Cana. That's her role, to point us to Jesus!

And that doesn't mean that He's dumping Mama Mary away. It's a whole different thing. God would never do that to her after finishing her job as being the Mother of Jesus Christ. There's something you should see there from a different angle.

Thank you for this video, Father Mike! Mary was instrumental in my conversion to Catholicism, and I often feel that she takes me by the hand to lead - or carry, or push ;) - me closer to Christ each and every day.
Is worship of saints/Mary biblical?
The Bible is absolutely clear that we are to worship God alone. The only instances of anyone other than God receiving worship in the Bible are false gods, which are Satan and his demons. All followers of the Lord God refuse worship. Peter and the apostles refused to be worshipped (Acts 10:25-26;14:13-14). The holy angels refuse to be worshipped (Revelation 19:10; 22:9). The response is always the same, “Worship God!”
Roman Catholics attempt to “bypass” these clear Scriptural principles by claiming they do not “worship” Mary or saints, but rather that they only “venerate” Mary and the saints. Using a different word does not change the essence of what is being done. A definition of “venerate” is “to regard with respect or reverence.” Nowhere in the Bible are we told to revere anyone but God alone. There is nothing wrong with respecting those faithful Christians who have gone before us (see Hebrews chapter 11). There is nothing wrong with honoring Mary as the earthly mother of Jesus. The Bible describes Mary as “highly favored” by God (Luke 1:28). At the same time, there is no instruction in the Bible to revere those who have gone to heaven. We are to follow their example, yes, but worship, revere, or venerate, no!
When forced to admit that they do, in fact, worship Mary, Catholics will claim that they worship God through her, by praising the wonderful creation that God has made. Mary, in their minds, is the most beautiful and wonderful creation of God, and by praising her, they are praising her Creator. For Catholics, this is analogous to directing praise to an artist by praising his sculpture or painting. The problem with this is that God explicitly commands against worshipping Him through created things. We are not to bow down and worship the form of anything in heaven above or earth below (Exodus 20:4-5). Romans 1:25 could not be more clear: “They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator-who is forever praised. Amen.” Yes, God has created wonderful and amazing things. Yes, Mary was a godly woman who is worthy of our respect. No, we absolutely are not to worship God “vicariously” by praising things (or people) He has created. Doing so is blatant idolatry.
The major way Catholics “venerate” Mary and the saints is by praying to them. But prayer to anyone other than God alone is anti-biblical. Whether Mary and/or the saints are prayed to, or whether they are petitioned for their prayers-neither practice is biblical. Prayer is an act of worship. When we pray to God, we are admitting that we need His help. Directing our prayers to anyone other than God is robbing God of the glory that is His alone.
Another way Catholics “venerate” Mary and the saints is by creating statues and images of them. Many Catholics use images of Mary and/or the saints as “good luck charms.” Any cursory reading of the Bible will reveal this practice as blatant idolatry (Exodus 20:4-6; 1 Corinthians 12:1-2; 1 John 5:21). Rubbing rosary beads is idolatry. Lighting candles before a statue or portrayal of a saint is idolatry. Burying a Joseph statue in hopes of selling your home (and countless other Catholic practices) is idolatry.
The terminology is not the issue. Whether the practice is described as “worship” or “veneration” or any other term, the problem is the same. Any time we ascribe something that belongs to God to someone else, it is idolatry. The Bible nowhere instructs us to revere, pray to, rely on, or “idolize” anyone other than God. We are to worship God alone. Glory, praise, and honor belong to God alone. Only God is worthy to “receive glory and honor and power” (Revelation 4:11). God alone is worthy to receive our worship, adoration, and praise (Nehemiah 9:6; Revelation 15:4).

How about the reverse question. WHY DID JESUS CHOOSE TO COME THROUGH MARY INSTEAD APPEARING AS A MAN RIGHT AWAY..? I think he wants us to go to Him through Mary. He gave her to us from the Cross to help us through this valley of tears.
How about this, Jesus being born of a human because it's a natural thing to do, he has to go through life as human so he can be a priest because only then he knows how human feels and go through, the pain, the sorrow, the happiness, having family. If he just suddenly appear as a grown up straight away that would be scary and back to my first point. Mary or any other woman God could've chosen is merely a tool, and it shows God's humbleness

I've grown up a devout Protestant (Southern Baptist specifically), and while I still remain, for years I've felt a draw to the Catholic church as well.
This is one of the issues I've had with Catholicism, the constant veneration of the Mother Mary, but you have explained it beautifully, and in a practical way.
While I don't know that I can convert, as I would like (could possibly become the 2nd Great Schism between myself, my husband, and our families), I truly enjoy learning more about Catholic beliefs and teachings.

I'm in the same place right now funnily enough, and have been for a few years
I am 66 years old; have been a Christian for 50;... I have been mostly been influenced by Protestant doctrine; but I accepted Jesus as my Savior, mostly due to having been given a "Living Bible" paraphrase version, by my grand mother at age 15. I was rebellious; trouble; a rebel without a clue. But, while bored at my relatives' Christmas party, where my gift was the Living Bible, I was not interested in small talk or any other thing that was going on, so I read the Bible. This time the words seemed to jump off of the page and into my mind and soul!!!
I prayed on my own about a week later, asking Him to forgive my sins. I repented, in that I didn't want to sin any more. I DID sin again, many times. But His Holy Spirit came into me that day and helped me grow in Christ and increased my desire not to sin.
Anyway, HE'S graciously allowed me to walk with him and be one with Him through faith. I do believe we are saved by grace alone, not by works, lest any man shall boast. I'm a Reformed Protestant now, in the ilk of John MacArthur and the late Dr. RC Sproul.
Until tonight, when I heard your very simple and effective communication of why Catholics emphasize and pray to Mary, in the context you explained it. "Behold your mother," I John was just a guy. But he was a guy whom Jesus chose.
And Mary was just a woman. But she is the one who Jesus chose. And the fact that knowing her is like getting to know the mother of your brother in-law, into whose family I've been adopted.
In that scenario, I could see looking at her as our mother. That version or context makes sense to me. Yes, some Catholics have taken it so far as to deify her, which is definitely not correct, in God's eyes. I'm still not convinced I should pray to her or any of the people the Catholic Church has designated as "saints."
Paul wrote that all believers are His saints. So I'm not there regarding sainthood, etc.
But thats ok; not a deal breaker. And as a Catholic, your explanation of Mary makes fine sense. If all Catholics believed this in this context, I'd have no trouble as seeing her as my mother or mother-in-law, kind of relationship. But then again, I don't know ow that dead believers can read my thoughts or prayers.
So I am essentially in the same place regarding Mary and the Catholic definition of sainthood I d, and salvation be Sola gratia, grace alone, your video enlightened me and softened my stance on Mary, the mother of of our God on earth.

I was raised Pentecostal, and I'm new to Catholicism. (I went to Mass for the first time Sunday.) I couldn't make sense of thinking of Mary as my mom. But when he said what he did at 6:34 in the video, it clicked. It made me so happy just to think Jesus is willing to share his mom with us, with me!
Hello, I was raised Catholic all my life and attended mass but I always felt empty and wondered why God couldn't speak to me like He did to other people in the Bible. So I started to study the Bible and pray asking God to guide me. And I came to find the truth from God and that is only Jesus Christ is the only way to God. There is no such thing as Mary's intercessions or saints, purgatory or confession to priests. If you can pray to God yourself, then why ask anyone else to pray for you? I think rather than praying to mAry it may simply be speaking to her as an intercessor as we do for one another here. Mary converted me, I cannot wait for Baptism and just the concept of having an actual Mother was amazing to me. I guess, Catholicism is the filled in hole of my life. It definitely fills in those holes of having a terrible mother and a father who abandoned me. Mary and Jesus seem to always at every second walk through life with me. It's real great because, the more and more I pray, the further I get from my parents. I asked to get closer to God though, not my "parents." God is a true Father who will never give up on me. We pray to God the Father, the Lord Jesus Christ and God the Holy Spirit. We pray “ Our Father in Heaven; “Son of God/ Jesus have mercy on me! “and “Spirit of the Living God fall afresh on me. “These are the three persons we worship and pray to . So Jesus clearly does not view her as our mother or as an extremely important figure or else he would not have said this... she is just another sinner like all of us...
Also you kinda did not pay real attention to the last part where it says: "From that time on, THIS disciple took her into his home."
It does not say that from that time on all the disciples and other believers took her into their homes as their mother... which is kinda the idea that you seem to have... so it's just a clear error that you are teaching.... She is not our mother... Jesus just cared for her and thus it was a way to tell his one disciple to take care of her... nothing more... it shows him thinking about others while he is suffering...
Here is another time Jesus took the attention away from her:

The catholic church seems to do the opposite of what Jesus did they put the attention back on her rather than on God... rather than talking to God they talk to Mary who passed away about 2000 years ago... rather than listening to Jesus when he says to not call spiritual leaders father or mother... they actually just go and do it...

With respect, this doesn’t make sense to me. How can you have a relationship with a person you haven’t met and who has lived and died a long time ago. Why do we pray to Mary? Do we also pray to Moses, King David, Billy Graham? It’s not at all the Message I’m reading in the scriptures. There is one God. There is also one mediator between God and humans-a human, Christ Jesus.

Jesus gives peter authority. The 12 come together multiple times in acts and other letters showing they made decisions together. Jesus wasn't there anymore. Someone had to have some authority in making the church.

Respecfully we cannot have a relationship with Mary as shes dead. We respect she was chosen but it ends there. to love Jesus you get to know Him not who his earthly mother was. Praying to her or asking her to intercede for us would be consulting a soul of a dead person. Not sure how you could use the livings relationships in this situation.

He will teach him the Scripture and wisdom, the Torah and the Gospel, And [make him] a messenger to the Children of Israel, [who will say], 'Indeed I have come to you with a sign from your Lord in that I design for you from clay [that which is] like the form of a bird, then I breathe into it and it becomes a bird by permission of God. ( Quran 03:45-49 )
"[Mention] when God said, "O Jesus, indeed I will take you and raise you to Myself and purify you from those who disbelieve and make those who follow you [in submission to God alone] superior to those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me is your return, and I will judge between you concerning that in which you used to differ." ( Quran 3:55 )
