He definitely has the skill to pull it off, I remember his Detroit Become Human song was in 5/4 with some 7/4 segments and was blown away at how he made it flow so well
I don't know much about music, but is that time signature part of why the song feels 'off' and 'creepy' in a good way? Kind of how music in the minor key tends to sound moodier or threatening? It''s really effective. The pacing of the verses makes you simultaneously anticipate and dread the next verse, especially fitting as it becomes clearer that the song is about the Mimic.
@@chillsahoy2640 exactly! the time signature basically makes each bar have the last beat cut off of it, which is why throughout the song he continues sentences into the next bar, or starts the next bar before the ending of the last one. He basically has to mesh the sentences into each other in extremely awkward ways to keep up with that lost beat, making the song sound uneasy and anxious
I love how the song slowly starts gaining more beats and starts sounding like an actual song rather then just a poem. Almost like the song is learning and building onto it like the actual mimic does. Its amazing
Oh shit that’s actually really fucking sick. I did think it was weird how the song felt more like talking at first, then towards the middle/end started becoming more song-like, and that’s so cool if that was on purpose. Using the song structure itself to show a character arc, that’s actually super insane 🤯 Sometimes I feel like people overanalyze certain parts of fnaf songs and attribute deepness to the lyrics or structure that the author probably didn’t intend, but I honestly could fully believe they did this exactly for this purpose. I can totally see JT showing evolution/progression of something through adding more detail over time because they’re seriously actually just genuinely skilled in song making like they’re so consistent. I genuinely think they could really make it in the “real” music world if they wanted.
@@seymentheboss5194The mimic is a robot/AI created long ago by Henry, and that was obtained by Fazbear Entertainment to create help wanted, so the AI was inserted in the game, This made the AI start obtaining info about Afton/Springtrap and then proceed to mimic him, creating glitchtrap The mimic is devided in 2 the versions, the non physical version thats basically glitchtrap and was placed in help wanted, which then became helpi (enfasis in the i instead of y) which controls part of the pizza plex in ruin The physical part which is the original and thats below the pizza plex also gained similar knowledge the non physical part, however they seem to think/interact different, since the physical part is the one that talks like gregory and ruin, who acted angry with helpi during a dialoge in ruin. Which is weird considering thay theyre both supposed to also be the mimic Either way they both in some way mimic/mascarade/ think they're Aftom or at least part of him
A short version of my last comment: They're not part or admire, they just mimic and learn from info they had of Afton To the point that sometimes it shows itself as a part of Afton, but the original Afton is dead for real now Edit: I just realized I wrote A LOT in the other comment, sorry lol
@@TeaserTravlein "You thought you knew him, what a deception" "Are you the real one, or my reflection?" "I'm not a person, I'm just impostin' him" It's about The Mimic.
The meaning is incredible, like we all want to distract ourselves from our outside, which we have no protection of. You can't control what you look like, and you don't have protection. Or maybe its a reflection of how you want a distraction from yourself, whom you have no protection against. As the song later says "don't fight your demons" probably meaning you have no protections against your inner demons, and you want to distract yourself from those demons. It's a reflection of the inner pain. Or maybe im dumb as hell and overthinking it, but whatever the meaning of this song is, It's incredible
@@GalexyGamer596 Considering the song is about the mimic who studied spring trap and mimics his killings, it makes sense. Some kind of twisted idolatry but the mimic doesn't seem to worship him
@@ericbell7919the way I see it, Mimic wanting to be Afton is like Metal Sonic wanting to be Sonic. He wants to take his place and be a better version than the original.
my favorite was "I look forward to my shift, but when I'm off again I'll rip off my skin, because the job is all I am" have a feeling i'll be tied very closely to that line in the future
I love how this song quietly but notably flips between Afton, the Mimic, and Glitchtrap while being pointedly titled as a Springtrap song. Because at the end of the day, you never really care about what an animatronic uses to move that often. You just care about the character suit being worn overtop it. Afton himself seems to work like this in Silver Eyes; He plays a security guard that's bullish and pretends to be well meaning with an ulterior motive, but that ulterior motive is a mask itself; the real, actual William is a quiet emotional wall that refuses to interact with anyone without some kind of mask on. The most expressive and 'himself' we ever see him, he's been twisted into the rotten husk of his favorite persona so he never has to take it off again. Glitchtrap is a collection of the Mimic's data corrupted by the information of the murders, and was then told to play that role as its sole driving purpose, and it seeks to do anything it can to continue fulfilling that purpose, up to and including recreating "NPCs" for its game. And the Mimic itself, is a wholly artificial being that was made to imitate what it saw, and it eventually saw the worst in humanity and decided to return it in kind. And in finding the catharsis of enacting violence it was shown onto others, it found nothing but joy in playing that role. Springtrap isn't just one, the other or the third. He's ALL of them, because the one thing they all have in common is that they are cruel, hateful creatures that kill people - children, even - because that's all they know how to be anymore.
I wasn't sure how i fealt about the mimic becoming the new villain but after watching this, i think the concept of him is actually genius, all the "evil robots" we've encountered throughout this franchise have always been possessed by some vengeful spirit, but the concept of having a new villain being an actual evil robot is just very smart to me imo because it simply just works for this franchise
Actualy, the mimic is realy nice. The problem is, hes introduction into the games was bad becoz they literaly put 0 context and explenation about who the fuck he is in the games. I mean, u gotta look in the books for hes lore
@@freedomwriter9688to be fair we don’t quite know whether Edwin and Henry are separate characters since the games and book timelines don’t match up perfectly, though I’m fine with either sentiment of Edwin either being Henry, or his own character. Though I will say Edwin being his own character would work in the game timeline, the issue is that the games don’t present enough of the information surrounding the mimic themselves, and thus it’s stuck mostly in a field of dubious factuality, as we can’t tell canon, from non-canon due to the lack of clarity. So let’s hope the likely Fall Fest game gives us Mimic’s origins and concretely tells us if Edwin is separate or the same as Henry.
“Trust is an edge, and I’ve been taught to cut with it” I love how that one line perfectly sums up Afton’s utterly remorseless and evil nature. The guy literally takes advantage of children’s love for him just so he can brutally kill them for fun.
But it also has a deeper meaning! The mimic learned this deceptive behavior from Afton (More specifically Aftons code within glitchtrap). So William learned to take advantage of trust for his own gain, and the mimic learned this behavior from simple imitation- not experience.
True but I think it's interesting because mimic isn't evil in nature, hence "I've been taught". Afton did all of that on his own, mimic has to learn it
I love how all the signs its a mimic song and not a springtrap song is already in the visuals and lyrics from the very beginning. The song recontextualizes itself as you listen to it in real time.
I had a "What the fuck?" moment. Dragging my jaw around the house while listening to this because it came out of nowhere and knocked me out like a baseball to the back of the skull.
Holy shit! The idea of disguising a Mimic song as a Springtrap song is actually genius. You’re also one of the first Mimic/Ruin songs I’ve seen actually reference or directly show scenes or things from the books! Great song!
Everyone pointing out how this is a mimic song in the end. But in truth this is still very much an afton/springtrap song. Its his legacy. No matter where you look, he has influence. From the old days of fazbear up to current day with the security breach era. Afton is there. You can never remove him. He and his legacy is pretty much eternal
I wouldn't doubt if the box from FnaF 4 contains the only thing capable of finally ending Afton's legacy. It makes sense, though, if he locks away the one thing that could end his legacy? When you have the will to survive 2-3 fires after being springlocked in a suit you (probably) designed, you aren't going to want your legacy to just end, would you?
Yeah, like, it's a legitimately great line on it's own. But if you listen closely, the distorted backing vocals sound a _lot_ like a little kid; which, as we all know, cranks up the creepy and hostile factor up to like twenty. Legitimate chills when I first noticed it.
The mysterious tune, the charade of being a song about springtrap to transition to one of the mimic, the references to the books and to the movie and even to your other songs.. this is just perfect.
Huge fnaf lore nerd and I love what this song and animation represents. It’s the mimic mimicking William Afton. It’s a REFLECTION of William in the mimic! The more I listen to this song the more I love it. It’s become one of my favorite songs you guys have made!

@@TheStarlingGuy I like to think it's cause he saw GGGL and thus Charlie is last. If we remember the story of the kids, she could have either used one key to save a kid and herself and doom the others, but she tried to save them all and failed. So I guess in that case, Charlie was the last?
In a way, this also kind of describes Pittrap. He feels like an embodiment of public perception of what the Missing Children Incident was - he's a "monster" in a rabbit suit who killed kids at Freddy Fazbear's, but all the other details just seem to be wrong. It portrays it as if he was just openly massacring children, as if there was a mass panic surrounding it with people fleeing screaming from the establishment, but the reality of it is that most people at the restaurant probably didn't even realize what happened that day.

Afton is still around bro but whatever 🙄 You guys decided to make him a "good guy" by saying that Entity is MXES and is an AI that is trying to keep Mimic locked away, when in reality he's Glitchtrap.
One thing I adore about this song is the double meanings and innuendos. The one thing that stuck out to me was the line 'Did I say im a narcissist? No wonder I hate to stay anonymous.' Because a Narcissist isn't aware that they're a narcissist, let alone admit it. This is the mimics GENUINE analysis of William, and the one thing that seperates Afton and the Mimic. The mimic is self aware, which makes it even more scary. Edits: Spelling
suce a genuine song, we really think that it talks about springtrap at the beginning, then we are confused of why we see so much the mimic at the middle, and then just understand that this song is actually the mimic thinking that he's william Afton, so freaking intelligent song, the song is good, animation is good, Bravo !
"My coffin is a walking grave, how preposterous! I'll lead a posthumous parade, so cacophonous! How pompous a display, did I say I'm a narcissist? No wonder why I hate to stay anonymous" I like how perfectly the line sums it up that the Mimic believes he is better than Afton, mocking the idea that he is a "walking grave" (a reference to Springtrap), and acknowledging that he is a narcissist who prefers to be the real him rather than remain in the background. In spite of mimicking Afton's actions and deeds, the Mimic truly looks down on Afton, as evidenced by his boastful declarations towards the song's conclusion that he will keep creating new horrors and that he is the real Afton. The original Afton is depicted as the reflection.
THIS IS INSANEEEE ALL THE STORY REFERENCES TO MIMIC'S CHARACTER IS AMAZING!!! At this point, this is more of a Mimic song edit: OKAY IT IS A MIMIC SONG WE'VE BEEN FOOLED but holy crap did Harry or the team do their research, spider mimic, tiger rock, the fridge and coat hanger references go CRAZY HARD. I LOVE YOU FOR THIS JTMUSIC!!! the lyrics go so hard and really make Mimic's character shine.
The 7/4 is fucking amazing, and I'm genuinely proud of how far JT has come with his music, and the Mimic song hiding under the facade of springtrap is genuine musical (and lyrical) genius. Not only was the windup for the conclusion downright monsterous, but the damn song's slowly seeping into the truth which is MIMIC and not SPRINGTRAP is the epithome of suspense for Fnaf. "Look at what *we've* become, something *Amalgamous!* If you *don't want to play your part, you will 'cuz I'll INSIST."* (I swear Insist means *Resist* or *Persist* in this context.) Then to add on to all of it, it actually SOUNDED like something the "MIMIC" would SAY. Even without the ROBOTIC VOICE, it being in 7/4 gave it more of an OFFSETTING TONE, and I genuinely fanboyed over this cause I KNOW it was on purpose. You just brought me back into the Fnaf Franchise with this one. Just went and begun rereading the books again lmfao.
The sound design on this is just hypnotic, it’s weirdly uncanny which fits perfectly with the subject of the song; I can’t wait to listen to this with headphones!!
I love how this whole freaking song is basically the Mimic psychoanalysing William. Like for real, at some point he just straight up says a line that seems to be his personal thoughts, like "I am stronger in the darkness, what ironic confidence!", as if he finds William's cowardness amusing, and yet finds it fascinating: "Like an artist who is carving out his audience", and simultaneously adopting his way of thinking. Or when he straight up says he "Studied sadistic psychopathy, got a doctorate". These lyrics are literally telling a STORY. This is absolutely terrifying and genius. Wow
For those who don’t realize, this is not only the mimic song actually covering as a springtrap song but also mimicking chorus’s from other JTM fnaf songs like “back for another bite”
To be honest, I like that idea for The Mimics characterisation, believing he is everything Afton couldn't be, where Afton failed, Mimic prospers, I honestly think he could be cooler than Afton with enough time and good writing, I'm definitely happy with how it's going so far, as someone who actually likes The Mimic EDIT: to add onto this, the other JT music song about The Mimic (the RUIN song called Lovely Things) has a line where The Mimic says "I wouldn't call this trick mimicry, if I just improve what you've given me!" As if The Mimic believes his mimicry is some sort of display of perfection over Aftons sloppy work, as if he's Afton without flaw, again, I really like this characterisation, and hope its explored more in the games
@@Spinball2006 I see what you’re saying actually. Although, I firmly believe that the Mimic simply cannot match half of William’s intelligence. Yeah, it’s certainly smart, but smart enough to extract Remnant from things by building something like the Scooper? Definitely not and I think that’s where the Mimic’s demise is gonna be. It’s just mimicking William. It can’t actually match him. Especially in terms of things like achieving immortality.
@@Hedron1027 that is true, though they definitely could go with the whole "Ai is 1000 times smarter than any human due to being a machine" sort of plot, but in the end, The Mimic bases itself off of Afton, so until it's able to copy someone else or do its own thing, it will always be tied to Afton in some way, making Afton slightly superior depending on how you look at it, I hope they make The Mimic crazier and cooler than Afton ever was, but we won't know if they do until the time comes to see if they do
Description says "Hope you all enjoy our newest song about Springtrap...*OR IS IT??*" The fact that they know what they're doing oh my god this has so much genius put into it.
Lyrical artistry: The better the lyrics, the harder it is to rhyme them, but in this case both the rhymes and the eloquence are on point. Amazing stuff!
The song of mismatched clustered fragments made into a mask of what he’s trying to convey but every mask slips, revealing who this song is really about. An absolutely spectacular song amazing work from everyone
This is one of the most unique sounding songs I've heard, like ever! It may not be the most flashy song or something you can easily dance to, but my God it is amazing! the mixing, vocal production, how everything keeps panning around you if you use headphones, the tone! it's amazing!! And if that wasn't enough, the animator also crushed it!! Just amazing on all accounts!
This was actually better than I expected it to be, and I already had high expectations. My jaw was literally dropped at the end. Funny thing is, the more I watched the more I wondered "will there ever be an end to the story?" Nothing is worse for a story, in my opinion, than when an author doesn't finish a project for one reason or another and leaves the audience without closure in the process.
I have no idea how this isn't getting more praise, the animation is absolutely insane and the song is in such a cool style! I love when yall experiment with the music, it always pays off. The music video is genuinely one of the most impressive FNaF related things I've ever seen. It feels like the crazy payoff for everyone who actually read the books. I think this single handedly reignited my hope for the FNaF franchise, everyone who worked on the song and video deserves a ton of credit :]
I’m literally so obsessed with this. You guys did such a great job on this entire piece/music video. So, and I say this as someone avidly against modern FNaF and the idea of the Mimic being the new main antagonist, I really, _really_ like this song. I'd say it's one of my new favorite FNaF songs, possibly in my top 10 or even top 5 ever. And it definitely made me see the appeal of the Mimic as a character more. At first, I was ticked off that it wasn't actually a Springtrap song. But then as I listened more, I realized not only do I enjoy it despite that, but it fits _both_ characters. You could see it as purely a Mimic song, purely as a Springtrap song, or as both. And I appreciate that a lot. My favorite lyric in here is actually a very Mimic-specific one, namely: "I look forward to shift but when I'm off again, I'll rip off my skin because the job is all I am" I'll give the character this, rehashing the old "mimic monster who can hide anywhere" horror trope, but as a bare endoskeleton who wants an identity of his own and so puts on different character suits and takes up the behavior of each, is a really, _really_ cool idea for a FNaF monster. He's still not a better villain than Afton or suited to be the main antagonist, but I think he's conceptually pretty cool.
the fact that this was a mimic song in disguise is such a cool fucking idea things like the voice being similar to the springtrap song but glitched up and screwed up was such a cool hint at the start
The amount of wordplay in this song was AMAZING! i loved the eerie energy to it Two parts that stuck out at me specifically are the lines "Trust is an edge and I've been taught to cut with it" and the Big Bad Wolf scheme This is the JT I love to see!!

A well-done song and video about the Mimic! I find it funny that before Security Breach, many fans thought Vanny was gonna be a copycat killer but in reality, the Mimic was the Afton-obsessed impersonator. Love how the song and animation references the books and has some hints of the movie visually.
I think this really shows that William Afton was right when he said he always come back, The Mimic isn't even him, yet in the song it seems like it wants to be William, therefore he came back yet again
The Mimic will evolve into being a complete replica of the true Afton. Hell, maybe he'll even get the real afton revived simply to analyze his behavior further to become like him even more
"Oh so it's like a poem." "Wait no, now it sounds like a rap." "Ooh, they added more beat to it." "They added an awesome background singer." "A reprise! Woo!" ...wait. It slowly grew into an amazing song. It was learning mid singing. That's an insane mimic parallel. 🤯
The fact this is disguised as a Springtrap song is so so clever, for a second I thought you were one of the people to believe Afton was Mimic, but no it was all a trick
I haven't felt this way about a song or an animation in a loooong time! Every piece of this masterpiece is amazing from the vocals and production of the song and the absolutely phenomenal job of Harry101Uk for the animation! Great job JT, Andrea, Harry, and anyone else who worked on this song.
oh my god at 0:34 when springtrap looks in the reflection of the knife, although its not a super clear image, if you pause right you can see that its actually the mimic's face! not real springtrap. this really makes me believe that this is a song about the mimic just disguised as a song about springtrap, which obviously makes total sense. Just going based off the lyrics, id like to believe the first half of the song is about afton's springtrap and then switches to how the mimic took the idea of springtrap and kept it alive. i think its a pretty good understanding/interpretation of how springtrap evolved into the mimic (thats the termology im using) as we know the mimic was both glitchtrap and burn trap (oh and duh i just realized at the very beginning of the music video, the spring trap we see is just the mimic and then the red eyes shift into the traditional white we see with afton springtrap, im also pretty sure the endoskeleton of the mimic also flashes for half a sec)
This is my favorite fnaf song and it being disguised as a mimic song makes this way better I love all the references to jt did so well on this song aswell as the animators props to them
the music aside i am still wondering how in the ever loving father of universe did they manage to not only disgius a mimic song as a springtrap song + book referances but also make the animations so fricking awsome! i mean, just look at the blood drops and you'll just know they made something no one was able to make.
The line ‘My precious puppet turned on me’ could easily be interpreted as Vanny/Vanessa betraying him or Gregory if the whole Patient 46 thing is true! Nice detail! Showing MXES, who is heavily theorized to be a creation of Vanessa’s as that line plays is also a nice touch!
Not only it just brings much flashbacks... But i just like when JT have this serious vib fully loaded with dark emotions and energy... It just gives chills
This song is a fucking bop, visually incredible, and conceptually great. Probably #1 on my list of JT fnaf songs because how great everything about it is.
The lyrics are brilliantly crafted in this song to both match the mimic and afton - both of which putting on facades to hide what's underneath, it's extremely smart to interweave both of these into a single song that represents both the mimic and springtrap! It's very hard to tell which would be william and which would be the mimic and I love that about this song
this song single-handedly make me fall in love with the Mimic Him masquerading as William really is such a cool discision, because (hopefully) he gains enough sentience and begins to have his own motives, seeing william as less of someone to copy and more someone to comepete with.
yea but it feels to me it's like he's learning to break free from the William persona and have his own motives, more of a transitional moment, you know?
@@solarsunne4950 IF thats whats being shown to us, we wont know for sure until the next VR game I assume. Theres a chance that the Vanny ending isn't canon, or that if it is canon, its not her destroying all of glitchtrap. She couldve been removing glitchtrap specifically from the player's mind or that specific mask. I'd say the majority of evidence points towards glitchtrap being destroyed, since the Mimic is basically 100% aftonless by the time Ruin comes around.
I didn't like this song at first until I kept on rewatching it to catch the details. The "Back for the encore part" might literally symbolize the user listening to the song, which is really neat. It's also likely that The Mimic might directly be talking to Afton because of the "I know you wanted it" line. So this segment at 2:00 really becomes much better.
I read a comment earlier saying how the music went from poem like to slowly changing overtime to a genuine song almost like it's learning just like the mimic. I can't unhear it now and just makes this so much more awesome.

this shit hits HARD man. i havent been in on the fnaf lore for a long while so i cant comment on that, but the lyrics in themselves, the flow despite the odd time signature, the heavy distortion to the voice that somehow works in making the song even harsher in its vibe but without being distracting. it even adds to the flow somehow. this is musically just some really good shit goddamn
I’ll explain! What’s shown in this video is from the book: Tales from the PizzaPlex, and mixed in with the common working theory that the Endoskeleton “the Mimic” is mimicking and picking up where Afton left off, and redoing his evil. Now, this isn’t 100 percent confirmed, nothings been stated about it in the games, but it’s a cool theory.
I..... definitely am gonna be watching this like an embarrassingly amount of times from here on out OMG and seeing TIgerRock come to life omggggggg Edit: I ALWAYS COME BACK to this video

That was super freaking amazing!!! The animation, vocals, and instrumental work super well together. I also really like how certain lyrics are reminiscent of Back for Another Bite!
Man this is actually just really good. The slow shift over the course of the song as it becomes clear that its about the Mimic rather than Springtrap is incredibly well done

he also mentions lobotomy and that couldve been a reference to him ripping a brain out of someones head
As far as I’m aware, these references were all from Harry (the animator). Pretty sure that he’s well caught up with the fnaf lore, so props to him.
Okay but can we talk about how this is a rap in 7/4, do you realize how hard it is to rap in an odd time signature, huge huge props for that.
New Favourite Addiction right here
Dang I didn't even notice. Heck yeah! Props to anyone who can do that kind of crap
Using the song structure itself to show a character arc, that’s actually super insane 🤯
Sometimes I feel like people overanalyze certain parts of fnaf songs and attribute deepness to the lyrics or structure that the author probably didn’t intend, but I honestly could fully believe they did this exactly for this purpose.
I can totally see JT showing evolution/progression of something through adding more detail over time because they’re seriously actually just genuinely skilled in song making like they’re so consistent. I genuinely think they could really make it in the “real” music world if they wanted.
Holy shit, I never even noticed that. That's genius if intentional
this is why i love JT's songs so much, they never fail to be clever and well thought out and also straight bangers
I just realized the longer the song goes on, the more British the mimic sounds, showing that he’s adapting to William’s voice
Is the mimic a part of afton or is he admiring him?
@@seymentheboss5194The mimic is a robot/AI created long ago by Henry, and that was obtained by Fazbear Entertainment to create help wanted, so the AI was inserted in the game,
This made the AI start obtaining info about Afton/Springtrap and then proceed to mimic him, creating glitchtrap
The mimic is devided in 2 the versions, the non physical version thats basically glitchtrap and was placed in help wanted, which then became helpi (enfasis in the i instead of y) which controls part of the pizza plex in ruin
The physical part which is the original and thats below the pizza plex also gained similar knowledge the non physical part, however they seem to think/interact different, since the physical part is the one that talks like gregory and ruin, who acted angry with helpi during a dialoge in ruin.
Which is weird considering thay theyre both supposed to also be the mimic
Either way they both in some way mimic/mascarade/ think they're Aftom or at least part of him

LOOKING BACK FROM THE OTHER SIDE!
*You thought you knew him, What a Deception.*
Omg this may be one of my favorite comments about this, it's so cool to read man, good job!!

@@solarsunne4950 The Mimic is imitating Afton so he technically is right! But I understand your point

In a way, this also kind of describes Pittrap. He feels like an embodiment of public perception of what the Missing Children Incident was - he's a "monster" in a rabbit suit who killed kids at Freddy Fazbear's, but all the other details just seem to be wrong. I look at my reflection and I'm one with it
Just like the depth of any mirror, there is none to it
Don't-don't-don't put your trust in me, you won't be comforted
Trust is an edge and I've been taught to cut with it
All for the leverage, I'll prop myself up with it
'Cause this is showbiz, so a showman's all you're gonna get
You might just find the skeletons I've closeted
What's inside the box? Break the lock right off of it
Take this rusty husk, dust the cobwebs off of it
My cover's slipping, yet I've simply come too far to quit
Behind this friendly facade, evil is dominant
Ego balloonin', impugnment ain't poppin' it
'Cause I'm the director, my actors are talentless
So let me control 'em, make sure no one is autonomous
Here comes a one-man marching band
See this army of puppets, I'm in charge of them
With a performance so electric, I'm conducting them
They wanted out, but now they've sprung another lock again
Look upon my face, I just adopted it
Familiar is the pain, I've come to foster it
To make me whole, I'll break your soul like a lobotomist
But on an atomic level, I'm the anatomic mess
My coffin is a walking grave, how preposterous
I'll lead a posthumous parade, so cacophonous
How pompous a display, did I say I'm a narcissist?
No wonder why I hate to stay anonymous
But I'm not dropping this charade 'til I've exhausted it
I keep the monster underneath, but he's prosperin'
I'm stronger in the darkness, what ironic confidence
The kind of artist who is carvin' out his audience
[Pre-Chorus]
Is this all just a projection
Or another misdirection?
Don't we all want a distraction
From that which we have no protection?
[Chorus]
Like your own reflection
Looking back from the other side
You thought you knew him, what a deception
Coming back for another bite if it's inhuman
No imperfection like a mask I pull off at night
My every movement beyond perception and all detection
Are you the real one or my reflection?
[Bridge]
Red, his hands, and dead his eyes
Blueprints stained, it's our doom designed
With these gift-wrapped reveries, disguising lies
Time to tie the bow and then enlighten lives
[Verse 2]
I'm not a person, I'm just been impostin' him
Call me the big bad, I'm one more blow from bustin' in
'Cause I've been tryin' to warn you, a child cried wolf
But people are sheep, pulled their eyes behind wool
Studied sadistic psychopathy, got my doctorate
Buckle up 'cause I'm no longer inoperate
My precious puppet turned on me, and now I'm strung to it
But if you thought you stopped my heart, you put the jump in it
Nobody bother to scream, because I'll muffle it
You're stuck with us in here, just like we're stuffed in it
Look at what we've become, something amalgamous
If you don't wanna play your part, you will, 'cause I'll insist
I built a body count on hollow promises
I got a list of 'em, it's so long, it's almost bottomless
Sorta like Santa Claus, but I don't come with gifts
Nonetheless, once I find your line, I'm crossin' it
Just like a virus in your system, I've corrupted it
I kinda find it like a job, so when I'm punchin' in
I look forward to my shift, but when I'm off again
I'll rip off my skin because the job is all I am
[Chorus]
Is a reflection
Comin' back from the other side
Your point of view is just a deception
Coming back for another bite to become human
I am pretendin' like a mask I pull off at night

One thing I adore about this song is the double meanings and innuendos. The one thing that stuck out to me was the line 'Did I say im a narcissist? No wonder I hate to stay anonymous.' Because a Narcissist isn't aware that they're a narcissist, let alone admit it. This is the mimics GENUINE analysis of William, and the one thing that seperates Afton and the Mimic. The mimic is self aware, which makes it even more scary.

"My coffin is a walking grave, how preposterous! I'll lead a posthumous parade, so cacophonous! How pompous a display, did I say I'm a narcissist? No wonder why I hate to stay anonymous"
I like how perfectly the line sums it up that the Mimic believes he is better than Afton, mocking the idea that he is a "walking grave" (a reference to Springtrap), and acknowledging that he is a narcissist who prefers to be the real him rather than remain in the background. In spite of mimicking Afton's actions and deeds, the Mimic truly looks down on Afton, as evidenced by his boastful declarations towards the song's conclusion that he will keep creating new horrors and that he is the real Afton. The original Afton is depicted as the reflection.

Or when he straight up says he "Studied sadistic psychopathy, got a doctorate". These lyrics are literally telling a STORY. This is absolutely terrifying and genius. Wow

“Now I’m the real one! You’re the reflection!” Mimic, buddy, those are some fighting words to William.
To be honest, I like that idea for The Mimics characterisation, believing he is everything Afton couldn't be, where Afton failed, Mimic prospers, I honestly think he could be cooler than Afton with enough time and good writing, I'm definitely happy with how it's going so far, as someone who actually likes The Mimic
EDIT: to add onto this, the other JT music song about The Mimic (the RUIN song called Lovely Things) has a line where The Mimic says "I wouldn't call this trick mimicry, if I just improve what you've given me!" As if The Mimic believes his mimicry is some sort of display of perfection over Aftons sloppy work, as if he's Afton without flaw, again, I really like this characterisation, and hope its explored more in the games
@@Hedron1027 that is true, though they definitely could go with the whole "Ai is 1000 times smarter than any human due to being a machine" sort of plot, but in the end, The Mimic bases itself off of Afton, so until it's able to copy someone else or do its own thing, it will always be tied to Afton in some way, making Afton slightly superior depending on how you look at it, I hope they make The Mimic crazier and cooler than Afton ever was, but we won't know if they do until the time comes to see if they do
@@Spinball2006That would certainly be interesting
well i think it might to be because of the game theory that burntrap is the mimic....idk

@Spiralredd Maybe that was intended? Springtrap could be considered an off-beat character after all.
@@Spiralreddit’s intentional, the song is in a 7/8 time signature, that’s why it feels that way.
FNaF 1-6 is the story. Help Wanted onwards is a new thing.
@@solarsunne4950 Interesting! I had no idea.

PHENOMENAL!!
Not only is the song beautifully written but the concept is genius and the visuals that match are strung together perfectly. It’s hard to explain but, you’ve come so far all these years and it really shows all your recent work.

2:10 I love these references 😭😭
I love all of the little details and references to past songs, and to make it all the more sweet, they don’t stick within their own songs!
Clever idea hiding a song about the mimic under a Springtrap one. It was compelling the whole way through. Nice job. The animation was stunning too!
Yeah, on the playlist. Also that transition where Mimic crawled out of a digitalized SpringTrap suit holy crap...
Finally, an animator that actually knows Help Wanted and SB lore
I love how when the mimic is singing the text glitches slightly more ❤ subtle, but telling.
I loved, how all the highscores changed, when the mimic walked past the arcade machines
My favorite lyric in here is actually a very Mimic-specific one, namely:
"I look forward to shift but when I'm off again, I'll rip off my skin because the job is all I am"
I'll give the character this, rehashing the old "mimic monster who can hide anywhere" horror trope, but as a bare endoskeleton who wants an identity of his own and so puts on different character suits and takes up the behavior of each, is a really, _really_ cool idea for a FNaF monster. He's still not a better villain than Afton or suited to be the main antagonist, but I think he's conceptually pretty cool.
It’s my number 1. Number 2 is back for another bite. This man is CRAZY with it. (My third is stuck inside tho)
Same, I dislike the importance of the books and the direction of FNaF since SL. This song is extremely good tho, music video is also extraordinary

The amount of wordplay in this song was AMAZING! i loved the eerie energy to it
Two parts that stuck out at me specifically are the lines "Trust is an edge and I've been taught to cut with it" and the Big Bad Wolf scheme

genius song.. the eerie feel and the hints getting stronger of it becoming a mimic song impersonating and BECOMING the ‘reflection’, youre a legend.
Is no one gonna talk about how he used the same rhyme scheme for the whole song? This is so cool! I love good rhyme and how artist use the rhyme! Honestly a masterpiece!
2:12 Tiger Rock is here. LETTSSSS GOOOOOO
"The kind of artist who is carving out his audience" gives me chills every single time I listen to this song
You dont realize how much evil SpringTrap has influenced until you watch this.. he had contigencies for his contigencies... cant wait to see some of them in the next blumhouse sequel!
If you really think about it, Afton technically did achieve immortality, just not in the way he wanted.
@@Jedi-ge6lr dude seriously does not seem to die off ever

The Mimic will evolve into being a complete replica of the true Afton.

"Oh so it's like a poem."
"Wait no, now it sounds like a rap."
"Ooh, they added more beat to it."

oh my god at 0:34 when springtrap looks in the reflection of the knife, although its not a super clear image, if you pause right you can see that its actually the mimic's face! not real springtrap. this really makes me believe that this is a song about the mimic just disguised as a song about springtrap, which obviously makes total sense.
I have no idea about any FNaF lore beyond the fourth game, but this is just incredibly well done all around. Fantastic song.
My RUclips wrapped just informed me that this was my most listened song of the year
I love this, BUT MAN... Are we looking at one of the best FNAF animations? This is visually beautiful!!!!
Fact that it’s actually the mimic deceiving us in both the video and title is genius
I really like this style of making a song focused on a specific character rather than a game as a whole
2:13 BRO READS THE BOOKS, THAT'S CRAAAZZZYYY

This song is a fucking bop, visually incredible, and conceptually great. Probably #1 on my list of JT fnaf songs because how great everything about it is.
simultaneously one of the best fnaf animations and songs out there. i literally cant stop looping this
this is SO GOOD, the flow is so odd its like its trying to mimic what rap is, insane!
I love how you made a reference to your other FNAF RAP “Back For Another Bite”
The lyrics are brilliantly crafted in this song to both match the mimic and afton - both of which putting on facades to hide what's underneath, it's extremely smart to interweave both of these into a single song that represents both the mimic and springtrap! It's very hard to tell which would be william and which would be the mimic and I love that about this song
this song single-handedly make me fall in love with the Mimic
Him masquerading as William really is such a cool discision, because (hopefully) he gains enough sentience and begins to have his own motives, seeing william as less of someone to copy and more someone to comepete with.
fr
The Mimic is already sentient. He actually makes fun of Cassie and torments her in the RUIN tooltips
yea but it feels to me it's like he's learning to break free from the William persona and have his own motives, more of a transitional moment, you know?
@@Ranchy-Randy Yeah probably because Glitchtrap is gone now in Help Wanted 2

It actually scared me for a split second-
this shit hits HARD man. i havent been in on the fnaf lore for a long while so i cant comment on that, but the lyrics in themselves, the flow despite the odd time signature, the heavy distortion to the voice that somehow works in making the song even harsher in its vibe but without being distracting. it even adds to the flow somehow. this is musically just some really good shit goddamn

That was super freaking amazing!!! I love how the song disguises itself as a Springtrap song before it shows its true colors: this is a Mimic song (or if you want to go deeper, it's an Afton and Mimic song), and I am all for it. The animation, vocals, and instrumental work super well together. I also really like how certain lyrics are reminiscent of Back for Another Bite!
