SALT LAKE CITY- Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham is in for a big pay raise (and a new contract) after the Rose Bowl success of his 2021 football team. The new contract still goes through 2027, but increases his pay to $6 million in the 2022 season and up to $8 million to the end of the original contract

Couple of factors on Whittingham. He is probably on his last year or three as HC(?). He likes living in Utah, and one big reason is his religious affiliation. He drives an old pick-up truck by choice. Money is not necessarily the prime motivator for him ... particularly at this point in his life. He knows the day he steps down they will put up his statue and possibly name the field after him. I can't see him going anywhere - other than hanging up the whistle in next 2-3 years.

I won't say underated that's not an accurate description. I believe Mark Stoops makes more and has less success but then again Stoops is at Kentucky, Whit is at Utah--maybe the cream rises to the top now that Utah is in the big 10 we'll see.
If Whit leaves it will be after 3 or 4 six win seasons and he'll do it on his own accord.

OU went from winning the conference every year to losing a couple bs games and not winning their conference under Riley. If either guy was good at building a program they would have improved over those years and achieved more is all i’m saying. Urban Meyer built 3 programs up, 2 to national titles. Matt Rhule built 2 programs from terrible seasons to great seasons at Temple and Baylor. Saban built up everywhere he went including LSU and Bama national titles. You get the point. Those are guys who can coach and build programs. Day and Riley have never done that, they both inherited good programs and have simply maintained them while slowly regressing over the years.

Kirby was and is harder on himself than any fan of any school could ever be and i wonder if Kirby can sustain until he WANTS to leave. God i hope so. If the article i browsed the other day said that Deion Sanders brought $100 million dollars of 'value' to Colorado i can't speak to the funds Kirby has circulating now across Georgia--not to mention the SEC. Kyle Whittingham is underpaid but not by 4 million. I would rather have lane kiffen or josh heupal as my head coach.

    DeBoer should be #1
He just had 6 players go in the 1st round of the NFL draft and his team is 5-1 vs Kirby.
Also the only coach that won a playoff game last year. Currently it’s hard to argue that he isn’t the best coach in cfb.
