Hal got me thru the toughest time of my life when I was losing my sight. I would lay back and listen to his songs and cry with emotion. ‘I know where love lives’ gave me the strength of family to get thru the toughest time. Btw, my wife’s name is Mary and I too am no stranger to the dark side of town. I love him. Saw him live at Weeds in Chicago. RIP troubadour. You are the best❤.
I was about twenty years old when this song came out. I’m 55 now. I don’t think this song was ever released too radio, but I discovered this and mote when I got the album. One day a few years ago I was in a second hand record shop,I found this C D for three dollar. I grabbed it fast. I didn’t tell the guy but i would’ve paid a lot more than that. His music made an impression on me that I’ll never forget.
Some are just flat out better than almost most. Guy Clark is one of those. Hal Ketchum can stand in the same room. What a beautiful song. We miss both of your terribly.
I agree completely! I stumbled across him when I won a local NPR affiliate trivia contest. I received 2 tickets to a concert where he was billed below John Michael Montgomery. I was an immediate fan. I can only compare him to the best in my life which includes one Nobel Prize Winner. I have never felt like it was time to change the music once I get started.
What a dream writers-in-the-round. Hal taught me everything about phrasing and a lot about songwriting. Wish he'd been able to shake his addiction and was still here making music.
I had never heard of Hal Ketchum but was listening to The Bob Harris Country Show on BBC radio 2 last week and he mentioned that he had passed. He played " Loving you makes me a better man" and this 54 year old trucker was in tears. A beautiful song beautifully sung. I've been on RUclips since listening to Hal's music. Such a shame that you don't get to know about a person until they have died. RIP Hal.
we really lost a beautiful person not to mention talent. He can me cry just feeling his feelings about the story being told. I really miss having his energy. Rest In Peace
Mr ketchum. I have loved you and your music since I saw you perform at a little country town fair in Meyersdale, PA back in ?? I love your style. Your poetic verses and the fact that you are a storyteller. You keep singing and strumming that acoustic guitar.....I'll keep dancing. BTW will you marry me? 😘
WHY I DON'T EVER BELIEVE IN A CREATOR PERIOD MILLIONS SUFFERING ALL OVER THE WORLD, WHY ????? WHAT'S THE PURPOSE ????? WHO DOES IT BENEFIT ????? RIP HAL MISS YOU.
