not mad sciency at all, its just the sort of thing I do, by the way you can get little lithium powered spot welders for around £40 - search Handheld Mini Spot Welder Machine Portable 18650Battery Welding Power W/ Display, not great but it can spotweld batteries at full power.

In the end, it's just a couple electrodes, a mosfet, and a button on a timer. I'm surprised it even costs that much (assuming you supply your own power source, which Rin has plenty of).

I dont understand seventeen cells one left over maybe I can't count perhaps four times four is seventeen

The other one is a sodium-ion battery from another project

So you destroyed working battery and didnt even finish your project. What was the point of all this? Didnt even measured capacity.

Temgot wanted the video up so I didnt finish in this video. I had to do something with this battery and had a deadline, remember that

Those are very good cells, i have 7kwh of them roughly that were used for a battery pack custom, but unfortunately the bus strip bars were too small and some of the cells were not getting balanced. Oh well, I might capacity test them and build a small pack, but yeah,
Its alot of work, and it needs patience and well, expensive alcohol, or some other type of sedative lol.
If i need an ebike battery, thats probably what I will use them for, also, i will replace my dead nicd cells and deal lion cells with lifepo4 on all my old cordless drills.
I have them now in a converted cheap chinese 15 led flashlight, and it is 3 cells crammed in the housing, and just a clunker on and off switch.
About 15000 lumens or more, which I think is indespensibly useful as the batteries will not discharge cause of crap electronics, there are no electronics only shit leds to fail.
ANd i can get about 2000 recharge cycles which will last a lifetime.
This is how they should be built.
Spot welding would help cell life too i am sure, it helps ease of assembly, but best to burrow a unit instead of having another clunky niche tool.

You can make a battery spot welder from a microwave transformer and some thick wire easy.

Far too easy to blow up the nickel ribbons that way, and also I would have to buy nickel ribbons

I think that will work for a short time but soon the cells are going to go instantly of balance after you tune it on at that wattage, will make the BMS cut off if it's a good BMS. Need two of them battery's and make a plug in so the batteries can be external.

The BMS will balance it just the same like this, I dont think you entirely understand how BMSs work

@@RinoaL I don't mean after you changed it, that's fine. I mean if you pull the max rated current or over, they go off balance really fast, maybe not when new but it won't take long. they might still charge up balance but when pulling a load, they drop differently if pulling over max current over time and if they get too far off balance the overall voltage drops and BMS will cut it off. Unless that thing pulls less current then the recommended battery rating, maybe there recommended rating is over kill?

Ah yeah I doubt these are different enough to really matter for a UPS
