p.s. for context, I am a Harvard graduate who was rejected from Stanford undergrad. I wrote these essays back when I was applying to college (I'm class of 2016). The unsuccessful essay that was in this video was written ONLY for Stanford. I did not include it in my application for Harvard. Lol, I find it so funny that, at 17 years old, I basically wrote an essay about loving capitalism... ahahah I was young, and my brainstorming game for ideas has improved quite a bit XD

The stone that was rejected by other sculptors was the stone that became Michaelangelo's David.
I got to thinking about applications, and the questions that sometimes appear on them.
"What five words would you use to describe yourself?"
Now notice that question seems superficially similar to the question, "What five adjectives describe you best?" But it seems to me that on close inspection, those questions are very different.
If I were asked the question, "What five words would you use to describe yourself?" , I would reply, " 'To' , 'of', 'the', 'a' and 'and'. ".
If asked to justify my answer, I would say, "Those are the five most common words in the English language. In any sufficiently long description of myself, I am bound to use all those words, sooner or later. So I would thus use those words to describe myself."
Now, would an answer like that get me into Harvard? Probably not. People who think like that go to M.I.T. instead.

Your story inspires me to push forward, been subscribed for 4 years. Like you said the downfalls lead to depression but then you reach the sky as you have no choice but to go up!

Right? Rejection is like the building blocks of life along with failure. One will fail and be rejected countless times, but that just makes life more amazing 👏
