Thank you for the fun adventure. RUclips just having to throw this video my way and I've never heard of you before and I'm glad they did I really enjoyed.
OMG! LOVE this place! And your channel name 🙂 You even got underwater shots . . so beautiful! AND, your music is sublime. I want to go here now!! Thank you so much for sharing this! Enjoy!!
It was the music that made it even MORE special for me. HAhahah The Madelyn with the shit shovel not so much but hilarious!!!! Just kidding, I love fun people and a great sense of humor. Love that !!!! Thanks for sharing, great spot looks like fun. MAybe someday i will heal and be able to take that on . A girl can dream !!!!
Right? It's hard to believe, but Arizona has some of the most amazing creeks on the planet! We are publishing a video of West Fork tomorrow or the next day, so be sure to check it out :-)
I've lived here in Phoenix area for over 30 yrs and there are still amazing places that I've never got the chance to visit. The elevation ranges from 72' above sea level to 12, 637' up in the high country of flagstaff where there is a nice ski resort. There's another ski resort in the NE side of the state as well as a small one down by Tucson. It does get hot here June thru September. You just learn to stay indoors from about 10am to 8pm and stay in the shade. If you live here it's nice to have a pool which may be used from April thru the end of October. There's also several lakes around the whole state where you can be comfortable all year long if you have a boat. 6 to choose from all within an hour or two from Phoenix. There's more boats per capita in Arizona than any other state. I moved here from Ohio and there's no way I'd ever go back? It's absolutely beautiful out here.
You should see further upstream towards Happy Jack! Upper WCC is easily some of the most beautiful places in our state! Google it, you won’t be disappointed!
Been going there since the 80s. Lot easier then, now that I’m almost 60, not so much. Planning a trip there but we are going to drop in at Tramway train and spend a few days. Showing my boys where I want my ashes spread after I can’t hike anymore. Years ago we would park a car down at hanging gardens, then drive up to tramway or the poor farm and drop in. Took a few days to go to the gardens, but always a fun trip! One of the most beautiful places in the state.
I agree, Hanging Gardens is amazing! We made a video about that also, check it out! Haven't done Tramway yet but I hope to soon. West Clear Creek is always amazing.
@@shutupandhike Upper clear creek is a lot like west fork past the 3 mile mark, only taller, steeper canyon walls. This is a great time of year for it too, winter is too brrr, spring you can get unexpected flooding. Give it a shot, it’s more photogenic than downstream!
I grew up in Flagstaff AZ and moved to Florida in 1988 when I was 16yo....I still miss AZ to this day!!! Thank you for the memories! Great video!!!🎉❤ it felt like I was there feeling the cool water and smelling the fresh AZ air ❤️ Peace love and light always 😊
Beware and careful of the bacteria and pollution that can be in these waters one of my friends daughters almost died from barefoot wading and the bacteria that entered her system through the bottoms of the feet.
That's awful, we're glad she pulled through. Was that at West Clear Creek? We haven't heard of harmful bacteria there, but I guess it wouldn't surprise me. We always wear water shoes when we are there.
some of the cleaner waters you will find out there. Hardly any people and water that comes out of the bedrock filtered through hundreds of layers of sand and rock.
The whole trail is a bit challenging for young kids, but you only need to go a mile or two before you get to some great scenery and stream crossing where you can swim. There are also places to access the creek near the parking lot.
Wonderful place I don't Believe that is in the state of Arizona Nice and Relaxing thanks for sharing with us I will visiting some day This is so cool guys hopefully you get many views , I love your video all but water is my thing 😊 😀
I love the name of your channel! 😆 We're old and love to go out to these places, too. We have yet to go to that location, and maybe we're too old to go 5 miles one way, but we would enjoy going in a little ways anyway. Also, really enjoyed the Ren Faire style of music. Very cool!
WCC is a pretty tough hike, perhaps I would suggest West Fork in Sedona. Somewhat similar but much easier hiking. Or possibly Fossil Creek, another one of the most beautiful places in our state.
Old does not look so awful now 🙌🤩😂 what a video ! I think we are older than both of you, more than half way to a 100 🤪😎 it’s how we feel not our age 👍🏻 ❤❤❤
I just had my 59 th birthday and my boys and I are heading to upper WCC for a backpacking trip. Been going there for decades. We’re planning on dropping in on Tramway trail. Easily one of the most beautiful places in our state!
I think the water felt perfect on a hot day. Not too cold for me. Definitely check it out, it will be worth the drive. You don’t need much in the way of gear if you do a day trip, just water, sunscreen, and snacks. Walk down the trail until you find water and have fun! Let us know if you have any other questions!
I understand your concern but I respectfully disagree. There are a lot of reasons that more people are exploring the outdoors lately. I really doubt this video is going to have a noticeable effect. Also, this is a very popular and well-known area, so I'm not revealing any secrets. AllTrails (and other apps) have probably done more to help people find the awesome trails around them than RUclips. Personally, I support people exploring outdoors, because it is good for the mental and physical health of the individual and by extension society.
Unfortunately no. Further upstream, near Point Trail and Maxwell Trail, we have seen bear poop, and near Maiden Falls we have heard mountain lions, but we have yet to actually see any large mammals at West Clear Creek.
It's just under 5 miles one way, but there are spots to swim in the creek starting from the parking lot. If you are backpacking, there are several spots starting at 1-2 miles in. You will be going to the Bullpen Day Use Area and parking at the very end, which is where the trail begins. I would use AllTrails and search for "West Clear Creek Trail." Let us know how it goes and if you have any other questions!
@@shane2808 We parked there last year and this year for two nights each time with no issues. There is no sign-in or permit, just a good old fashioned Arizona free-for-all. Have fun!
I think the best water for swimming that is close to town is the Salt River. I would check out Phon D Sutton, or any of the Salt River recreation areas along N Bush Hwy. Butcher Jones is also a good spot if you want to jump in a lake instead of a fast flowing river.
It’s funny, we have seen dozens of snakes while hiking, but never at West Clear Creek, and we have been there many times. I have read that rattlesnakes live there.
Don't blame us - we found it from AllTrails 😁 Seriously though, if you are mad at us, then you must be mad at the whole internet. I'm sorry if our tiny RUclips channel ruined your secret spot, but I would be willing to bet if you went there right now, you would be the only one there. You won't stop population growth, you won't stop the proliferation of information due to technological advancement, and you won't stop the fact that more and more people need to find solitude in an increasingly hot, crowded, dirty, difficult, and expensive world. I suggest you go for a swim in West Clear Creek and clear your head. You seem stressed out 💜 Also, I’m now considering “RUclips F’kers” as a new channel name. Got a nice ring to it.
One of the first things i did when i moved to az years ago was look up creeks/rivers for hiking, swimming, and fishing. Found reviews, maps , and directions for oak creek, fossil creek, beaver creek, salt river, verde river, and oh yeah, the bullpen at west clear creek, go figure.
Arizona is the most beautiful of places. Lived there for two plus years in the mid seventies.
True, there's so much beauty in Arizona and we want to see it all! We post a new adventure every week 🙂
Is exactly what I do to the outdoor is what I'm enjoying Most of my best moments in life is went I have my memories of life

was the water really cold? it reaches 120 degrees over here in tucson haha
thinking about going up there, any advice? i dont really have proper gear

Alles ein bisschen hektisch, auch Sprache und Ausrüstung, aber: Absolut lustig und auch interessant.
I hear California calling you..
I would love to live in California near the mountains someday, but for now I am very happy exploring Arizona 😎
I wonder how long it will be before this place is a trash heap? Such a good idea to reveal on RUclips the places that are best kept as secrets .
West Clear Creek is not a secret, and everything we do is already all over the internet, including AllTrails. But thanks for watching! 😁
I’ve been hiking WCC since the 80s, it’s still pretty pristine.
Had it to yourself and doing your best to ensure no one else will.

Did you see any wild life there, apart from normal birds and butterflies?
Unfortunately no. Further upstream, near Point Trail and Maxwell Trail, we have seen bear poop, and near Maiden Falls we have heard mountain lions, but we have yet to actually see any large mammals at West Clear Creek.
Hey, you’re not old! Lol
Well, maybe not Better than fossil springs, but it's a lot easier to get to. And the crawdads taste like trout, I kid you not.
The fact that a permit isn’t required is one of the best things. They require actual planning, and that’s a pain.
Didn’t know that about crawdads!
