Powder Coat - Wraps aren't designed for the heat the calipers will generate, and will be a mess of dripping plastic the first time you bury the middle pedal.

I like the bare metal finish that shows the SUPRA etching on the OEM caliper since you already assembled the pieces back together. Otherwise I would have powder coat it when it was apart.

you should've got them power coated while they were apart because they bake them and it'll mess up the rubber seals when they are assembled.
The calipers reach very high temperatures on the car as well. A single exposure to high temperature should not affect anything! In addition, the rubber of the gaskets is treated for high temperatures. It's just my opinion, I hope you don't mind. All the best
Powder coat is baked around 400*f (and mostly I see it done between 375-390*f), hard worked brakes (racing) can exceed 500*f pretty easily. If the seals hold even during extreme use. They'll be perfectly fine during powder coating. Provided they weren't compromised to begin with.

That was awesome...I'm fixing my Supra calibers on my Lexus GS 300 and I think I need to rebuild mine as well. You make it look easy! I can't wait to see if you powder them or wrap them.

While everyone is worried about the powder coat… im thinking you should zinc plate the hardware. Those bolts are going to Corrode again. I use Caswell kit copy cad kit. With yellow chromate, makes the bolts looked like candy!!!

It’s all good. That’s how u learn with mistakes. N it would have been easy with calipers together n just put a piece of wood to stick in between n use air compressor to pop them out. Just watch with fingers u don’t get them smash when piston shoots out
Yeah! definitely kept trying and trying and even everybody at the shop was helping but it was a no go. 😅

@@hotmodz_ I got a 1995 Camry if u want to do more videos. I’ll sell it to u for $300. It’s drivable. It works fine. It need to be rebuilt the engine bc it’s burning oil. If u want more practice this is the best Camrys. All 90s cars were the best ones. They don’t break down it still has stock fuel pump n injectors n coils from factory. That’s how good 90s cars were.

Powder coat but I’m wondering why you didn’t choose to powder coat them or wrap it when it was disassembled? Watching your video motivates me when I’m working on my car . I had to change the clutch slave cylinder on my accord today but my clutch still isn’t working . I might need to check the master cylinder next or I didn’t bleed the slave cylinder properly. Tomorrow is another day right . Keep up the good car work ❤

question why do you put grease on the back of the piston? there is no need to put grease on it at all.
Once you have dismantled your brake calipers, spray them with heat resistant paint before you put everything back together!
@@Noodle-2024 It says on the Toyota Manual to apply grease on all parts even inside the cylinder.
It might not have been necessary but I just wanted to go by the book on this one ✔️
@@hotmodz_ on the backside you did not have to put any Grease on the piston. It's only for the rubber seals

Honestly I have to disagree where you said that the seals between the caliber has are no longer made by toyota. There is a superseded part number for those seals. So they are still made, but you have to find a good parts guy that knows what to look like at the dealership. Sorry it's long-winded, but all too often at the dealer there are a lot of parts counter workers that don't know what to look for you can also find those seals still on stock at Alexis dealership most likely because that's the only leaked a lot on the GS

Seems like the vinyl will peel when the brakes heat up.
There is a special high heat resistance 3M paper they use for Calipers! Good reviews for it too!

Hey girl..... don't wrap it or paint it or dip it or flip it or.....NOTHING!! Man, I HATE ugly bright red or whatever calipers showing through rims, that's one of my pet peeves. Don't like it at all. If you must paint it to look knew, just do like a light gloss black or metal gray color to make it look stock appearing. Ya dig?

such 'experts' doing this.. first you really don't need to split the calipers to get the piston out.. put a block of wood inside the caliper.. and use the compressed air to pop them out..next.. experts.. you wont need vice grips to remove the pistons...wow!!!! so amateur of you.. after you clean the caliper body and replace the seals.. place the pistons in dry ice or a freezer for a few hours.. this will srink the pistons, ever so slightly.. take one piston out at a time,, lube the piston with fresh brake fluid, and being very, very cold.. the pistons will just slip right in..,i work as a classic italian car tech here in nocal.. and i would not let you n our shop, after seeing you do this..its a ' hack ; job
