As a mom of a boy with autism, this really made me feel so happy and so sad. The boys did so well handling the son in such a scary situation. Having a medical emergency while being with my son is one of my biggest fears. Seeing these boys handle this so well made me feel a little less scared knowing people can be so compassionate.
@D M I don't want to discredit your personal preference as an autistic woman, but I have heard autistic people make arguments for both being preferred. I once had an autistic woman correct me the other way saying she would prefer I call her woman with autism because she wants to be referred to as a woman and person first, with the disability being the added descriptive, because she didn't want autism being used to define her in entirety. I am sure there are probably just as many people on both sides of that, and even more who don't really care either way. I do know that when I am informed of anyone with a preference either way I will always use the way they prefer when addressing them.
@@DM-it1qf if that’s what you prefer that’s fine but it’s not for you to tell someone how they should address their own family. I, too, am mama to a son on the Spectrum. I'm terrified of anything happening to me while he and I are out somewhere together. These guys handled it so well ❤️
When the guys gets rattled by the drownings i feel so sorry for them. Been a OR and ICU nurse for years and know the feeling of helplessness when you loose someone
Two of my best friends, married couple, are a paramedic and an OR nurse. IMHO, anyone providing care in emergency situations like that are... something else. Something akin to superhuman. As I love to tell any new, nervous employee I've ever had to train IN RETAIL: "There really aren't any mistakes you can make that we CAN'T fix, so relax." But for YOU people... I shudder to think of it, and I thank you for serving us all!
My mom has been an ER nurse most of my life, and we had a family friend who worked in cutting down trees. One day while he was working his boss who had not been feeling well that day went up the tree against the advice of his entire crew. The boss ending up having a massive heart attack, fire fighters and EMTs couldn't get the man down so our family friend had to climb the tree and bring him down. His boss later passed away in the hospital. After this our friend stopped by the house, and while talking with my mom he mentioned how guilty he felt that the man died, this was the advice she gave; "You did your part, the firefighters and EMTs couldnt of gone up there to get him. You did everything in your power to retrieve him and you did that. Anything that happened after was out of your hands, take pride in the fact you could at least get him back to his family." It's the same for these lifeguards, they do everything they can that no one else could do. Sometimes that's just making sure that someone's body can get back to their loved ones.
4:54 he’s being amazing here, because he’s being clear and explaining to him what’s happening in a way that the guy can understand, without being patronising. ❤
When i was a kid i went to a Beach in America with my family, i didnt speak good english and only knew The basics. I went in The water with my Big brother and i realised i couldnt get back to shore and my brother kept saying i wasnt trying hard enough. Then this Young lifeguard came and picked me up and had me ride to shore with him. Because i didnt know much english the only thing i said was a tired little “thank you”. My god watching that little girl say thank you just took me right back to that red surfboard and his kind warm smile and the taste of salty water. Bless this girl and her rescuer. And bless the guy who helped me that day.
It breaks my heart knowing Terry has passed. When he saved that little girl and she said thank you. What a great man. I hope the team is there for the next little girl or boy. Rest in peace Terry.
Clip 3 had tears forming after hearing the lifeguard had lost his son and how hard saving that girl hit his heart😢 I don’t think I have as strong of heart as these amazing lifeguards 🙏🏼 you all have an amazing and needed job and love how you risk your lives to save others
Yeah it’s popped up in many of their videos how passer-by’s join in to help, many times it was sorely needed because the lads an only do so much. Truly wholesome crowd! ❤
There is nothing worse than the loss of a child. My condolences to the lifeguard who lost his baby. I am sorry I didn't catch his name. You are correct sir. Whenever a child is in danger it brings it right back. I also speak from experience having lost a 2 year old. Bless you sir.
The second the video said that a 2 year old drowned I was about to cry. I had a two year old sister who passed away on her birthday when she turned 2 because of epilepsy and she died from a bad seizure in the hospital. My heart sank when I found out and on Boxing Day my niece just turned 2 years old and I was terrified and was overthinking because I have trauma and I’m now scared of children 🥲👍✨ Thank you to the lifeguards who try their best to save the life of people, this world appreciates and loves you all dearly for your assistance ❤❤

I lost an inmate that I had known for years when I was a deputy sheriff. He was a good guy, but he was a drug addict and just make bad decisions which lead to him being in jail. I did CPR on him for what felt like a lifetime, but was unable to bring him back, eventually leading to my PTSD. I know how you all feel (regading video #2). I pray for him often....
Every life matters my brother. I hope you can find peace. I'm a volunteer fire fighter here in Aus and I've made it home when others didn't. Just have to keep going. Keep going mate.
I can’t even imagine. My mom had to perform CPR (she’s a caregiver at a residential facility) on a woman not long ago and she’s got PTSD from it, even after nearly 30 years of caretaking and working in hospitals, so she’s seen and experienced some wild stuff. And that woman survived and is doing perfectly fine now, so I can’t even imagine how it can effect a person when there’s just nothing more you can do.

God bless our DS boy. The gentlest most innocent people I know. If only everyone in society could conduct themselves with such dignity as these people do.
These lifeguards are amazing caring. They’re always on alert and on the rescue even when someone is in trouble and doesn’t wave for help. They help with EVERYBODY and EVERYTHING on the beach, from thieves, perverts, lost children, injuries, drownings, etc. They take their jobs seriously and that’s why they take the deaths so hard, but they are true HEROS. I’m impressed with how they all work together in unison and help one another
You can clearly hear that the little girl was struggling for her breath while there was water in her throat🥺 you find her at the right time! I know your son is so proud of you!🥺
The boy with Down syndrome one hit me 😢 his mama is probably his whole world and I hope she is ok and safe for the sake of her son. Bless you guys for saving her life that day at the beach. I really hope the son is ok too and is taken care of by kind people
the little girl whos first words after being saved was thank you, I cried my eyes out instantly and I'm a guy who never gets emotional that hit hard and it was unreal
NEVER, NEVER EVER say its not good enough!!!!! you risk your lives to save people and sometimes, things are out of your control. You guys clearly give all to save people and you always do good enough!
I used to be a lifeguard and rescued a lot of people. I only had one resus and they survived. After they were taken away I burst into tears. Its a really emotional thing to do. Thinking that the person you are working on is dead with their family and a whole crowd of people watching.
These are the real men and women that I refer to as AMAZING… I am in the U.S. but part of my heart is for you at Bondi and to those throughout the world who do what you do because you truly care, God Bless You❤️❤️❤️
This is for Corey Oliver... just want to let you know.... on my bucket list, meeting, and spending a couple of houurs in conversation with you is #1. Youre my hero!
Thank you all so much for the hard work you do to help save and keep safe everyone on your beaches. Number 2 makes me cry every time. You all tried your best and please know that everything you do is appreciated, even if the outcome isn’t the desireable one
We must have a short video on all incoming flights about the danger of swimming at our beaches. 90% of the rescues involve tourists or new arrivals who can't swim or are weak swimmers. The bottom is not flat sand. There are sandbanks that move all the time and the areas where there are few breakers are where there is a rip that can take a person out into deep water in moments. The only safe place is to swim between the red and yellow flags and even so, its still very dangerous. If you are a parent and you take your kids to the beach, but you cannot swim yourself, then find another safer place to spend the day.
My parents nearly drowned around 30 years ago in the U.S. and I’m so thankful to the lifeguards that saved their lives. They’ve told my sisters and I to be careful and aware in the ocean our whole lives since.
That’s a really good idea. The amount of rescues they do are mostly tourists. None of which, clearly, do not so any research upon booking the tickets to Australia, and none of which do the research and take the time to educate themselves about what can happen if you don’t follow the rules/flags, also, most I have seen don’t even have the basic swim knowledge neither. It’s all, let’s go to that pretty destination and go a for a swim and wonder why we end up in trouble and have lifeguards “yelling” at us to not swim there. They have no clue. I hope you wrote that idea down and sent it off to all airline businesses.
You guys are ACTUALLY real life hero’s…. You don’t ask for thanks for your help, but too many realize how much they needed your help without asking for it. So many don’t understand the work you put into protecting them until it’s too late…. That’s what a hero does
Im a middle aged man now but when i was a boy i grew up in a fire station as my dad was a regional commander (similar to a fire chief) . We had to attend car accidents with dad sometimes as he was on emergency call 24/7 . We always took his emergency response car wherever we went in case he got called out, to things like parties ,late night shopping ect. My dad went to accidents all the time but the only time i saw him shook up was when kids were involved. He could deal easily enough with screaming adults as he said while they were screaming they were alive. He was very compassionate but also very professional and experienced at his job. He put all his concentration in to getting patients to hospital and keep everyone else safe. I saw him at home however after dealing with kids and the emotions sometimes really showed. I knew to leave him alone and just try to help around the house as it was the best i could do to help him. The first one brought tears because ive been around down syndrome kids and they are beautiful. Im so grateful the life guards and the locals helped by talking to him calmly and comforting him. Im kinda glad mum was screaming as she was alive. I understand her pain. I live with constant permanent chronic pain and i can deal with that. The hospitals in Australia are usually very good and they will help her.
All professional and volunteer lifeguards in Australia are our unsung heros. The public, especially foreigners truly have little comprehension of how dangerous our beaches, rivers and gorges can be. We need to do more to educate the public of the dangers of the water. People not only put themselves in danger but also those of Bondi Rescue and hundreds like them scattered around the waterways of Australia. If your not a strong swimmer, if you can't stay between the flags, then seriously consider using out public pools to cool off in the hot, stiffling summers. Please everyone, stay safe. Become water smart in order to survive you next water experience.
My 2 year old brother drowned in a pond his dad was meant to be watching him but clearly wasn’t sometimes this show just upsets me but I’m so happy they get saved x
The women & men who go willingly into dangerous life threatening situations to save the lives of others are remarkable humans. They also don’t get paid enough.

These guys are such heroes. They are so strong and brave and truly wonderful. I am sorry for the losses they have suffered. Bless you boys. Be safe.
Its so heart braking when someone doesnt make it but the work of these life gauds is unbelieveable we need more life gaurds like this everywhere. Great job guys
I know your son is so proud of you!🥺
Thank you for saving the little girl, watching it broke my heart to pieces so glad she is alive thank you GOD for your kindness.
The ones saving the lives are so wonderful and I love that they are brave enough to shed tears. Thank God for them.❤❤❤❤❤
The 4th one is heartbreaking they tried everything thing they could. The poor women losing her husband Infront of her was so sad
The boy with Down syndrome one hit me 😢 his mama is probably his whole world and I hope she is ok and safe for the sake of her son. Bless you guys for saving her life that day at the beach. I really hope the son is ok too and is taken care of by kind people
BLESS THOSE LIFEGUARDS!!!!! PEOPLE DON'T REALIZE THE RISK THEY TAKE.
the little girl whos first words after being saved was thank you, I cried my eyes out instantly and I'm a guy who never gets emotional that hit hard and it was unreal
NEVER, NEVER EVER say its not good enough!!!!! you risk your lives to save people and sometimes, things are out of your control. You guys clearly give all to save people and you always do good enough!
These are true heroes, God Bless them and the families that they save
I used to be a lifeguard and rescued a lot of people. I only had one resus and they survived. After they were taken away I burst into tears. Its a really emotional thing to do. Thinking that the person you are working on is dead with their family and a whole crowd of people watching.
missing those moments with Terry❤❤ Hope your happy and guiding those Bondi Boys saves lives😊😊🥺
These guys are so brave! They jump in with no regard for their own safety. Kudos to these hero’s

These are the real men and women that I refer to as AMAZING… I am in the U.S. but part of my heart is for you at Bondi and to those throughout the world who do what you do because you truly care, God Bless You❤️❤️❤️
These guards and first responders are just the best! Not just top notch rescuers, but really decent human beings! 😊

Extremely loving, friendly, enthusiastic, hardworking, efficient life savers! Thank you for your work and empathy. ❤
Amazing work! With a deep and thankful heart, we are all blessed with your tenacity and professionalism.
Terry's a legend. R.I.P.
I'm not swimming on any beach unless i know these guys have my back, Your amazing.
absolute hero's bondi life gaurds
That little girl is so polite her little "thank you"' and then the mum says thank you
Like mother like daughter
It can be difficult to maintain professionalism in stressful situations, but the Bondi Life Guards excel at it. Their empathy is truly remarkable.
Lifeguards, (I want to name you all), I have high respect for you in your life saving endeavors. ❤
Heroes. All of you. 🩵🌊🩵
I am so very sorry for the loss of your son 😢 i know the feeling. But im grateful you saved that little girl and all the other people you save.
I am a great swimmer, but I am scared of the ocean. The fact non-swimmers can be so confident is crazy. These guys are magical
I think it's less about confidence and more about simply being uninformed about the dangers.
Absolutely hard to watch.....
These people are heroes......all of them.❤
These Lifeguards are so awesome.
My 2 year old brother drowned in a pond his dad was meant to be watching him but clearly wasn’t sometimes this show just upsets me but I’m so happy they get saved x
Thank God for rescuers.
